Looks like it's going to be me and my copilot, and the wife and her copilot in her car, I dunno for sure how many of my rigs are going to be going up, but count on at least two but could be as many as 4.. . The Rogue Roos convoy is going to add quite a bit to the "Bend or Bust" convoy, we're looking at, at least 10-15 rigs.

About a month ago, maybe less, (I'm too tired at the moment to go through the archives). I posted on here about a little buisness that I was planning on starting up, well, the thread got very few replies, and almost no interest, and it dropped off. Needless to say, I had planned on throwing the whole idea out the window, cause there is no point to starting a buisness if there is no interest in the product, and just go on with my dreary job of working on fords and hondas. I bring this up again because of all the down in the dumps, "I'm so depressed there are no parts left for my soob" threads that have popped up. You guys want body parts??? To recap my previous post, I have the will and the know how to duplicate body parts in fibergalss, the only real problem is getting the molds made up, but if I can get my hands on a good piece, I can make a mold in a few days, I have some of the basics here, Gen I hood, Gen II hood and fenders, and Gen III hood and fenders, I can actually get these molds made up if I actually saw interest. Also, one of the more better things is that I can make whole hoods or fenders with scoops and vents and stuff made into, one piece, bolts right on. So if I can see a couple hands go up that think they would be willing to spend 250 on a set of fenders or 200 on a hood, I will be quite willing to haul the stuff outa storage and get too work. ALthough mind you, I leave next friday for Colorado to do Army stuff for 2 1/2 weeks, getting back just in time for WCSS. On a side note, there are a number of other things that I planned on producing as well, but don't want to spend too much time writing it down on there, if you interested, look for the thread about NDJ Engineering. -
Hey guys, if'n you'd watch the board alittle closer, you'd have seen that about a month ago, someone posted here, they are going to be making fiberglass replacement body parts for Gen I-III's. Granted they aren't steel, but they look and function just same, and at the same time are lighter. Heck, if'n you guys really want it bad enough, and are willing to put down the cash for new JDM fenders, you could prolly talk this guy into making some snazzy carbon fiber body parts for ya. But then again, I'm prolly p***in into the wind here, cause who the heck would buy fiberglass body parts, if'n you hit a tree they break, yada-yada-yada.....

Ya, it's quite possible they were all assembled with the intention of going to different places, but some people got tired, or lazy, then they just went where ever they got sent. Who knows really.

What you are seeing is the stock O2 placement on the EA81T's. The EA81 and 82 turbo's use the same crossover pipe. All the EA82's I've seen have a plug in this port. It is quite possible that either A, it has been replaced with an older pipe, B, someone installed another O2 to monitor A/F ratio's, or C, that it is indeed a stock O2 for a cali. I cannot verify option C, as I have never worked on a Cali car, and don't even know if they have the option of 2 O2's or not, I'll look into this tmarrow on the the computer at work. But for the most part, I would go with the first 2 idea's.

Should be a whole mess of em from your arear headin up. Which route I'm not so sure of. Also most of em from round there don't really get on the computer much, you'll have to actually face to face, or phone up some of em to get the digs on what the locale is going to do. -
Alrighty, I got the digits for our "Campsite", you can just plug it into your mappers and get the low down on the down low!! Hahahaha Walmart 20120 Pinebrook Blvd Bend, OR 97702 Kewl thing is that it's like right off 97, so we don't have to go hunting all over the place for it. That and it's a big well known store that anyone can find so that if the crews from Eugene to Albany want to run over and hook up with us that night (Friday) they can find us easily.

I started the whole playing around in Soobies back in early 95, I had a beat up old 89 Justy, 2wd, carb'd. Found it in the back of the wrecking yard that my buddies owned, got it to run, and rallye'd the heck out of it in the yard, and through the fields of Tennessee. Thats where I started. Then in 97 I got my 83 GL Hardtop, found out they only made em in 2wd (cept for the turbos), then started aquiring parts to turn it into a 4wd, went to basic, the car got crushed while I was gone. Came back from basic and in the spring of 98 got the 82 Brat, that July had a 2" lift and 195/90R13 with mud/snow terrains on them. It's been a series of evolutions since then. -
Just a thought, but isn't your rig an automatic?? If the diaphram broke and it's now sucking huge amounts of ATF into the intake, it will blow billowing white smoke. So I guess the question is, do you have a bit of steam coming out the rear, or are you pumping out clouds?

8?! Ha. I don't have any doubts that I'll prolly be up and about before 5 on Saturday. This means that theoretically I can be ready to head out by 6, which puts us in Hood around 9ish. Me likey that idea better. But it would prolly take me a little while to get everyone roused, so I guess we'll leave at 8. Have we gotten any leads on a camping area. We need something that can handle to the tune of anywhere from 15-30 vehicles, depending on how many crews plan on heading through there. If the Eugene guys are heading that way, then I can definatly see a need for 30+ spots for vehicles. Mmm kay, I thinks that I gots something here, it's just outside of Bend, and plenty of room. I plan on reserving a group site for the Rogues for the weekend, but there are plenty of other single sites there. It's the TUMALO STATE PARK, Looks pretty good if you ask me, if you go to the Oregon Parks department website you can read up on it. I think that I can accept other vehicles into the Rogues site, but that depends on how many vehicles I actually get to come.

No doubt, I was thinking that just a straight shot into Hood would be the way to go, but that would mean leaving behind a few people in my crew. I think we all should just bed down in Bend for the eveing, have some barby, get organized, then mass convoy into Hood the next morning. People might think something is going on if they see one or two little packs of rigs going through, but if they see just one long massive line a mile long rolling into town, they will have no doubt that sumpin is going down.

Actually Lumpy ran a V6 in the unhatched. I've though tabout the idea a couple times. Mainly cause a buddy of mine has a Rachero with that is the same color as my Gen I Brat, looks almost the same but bigger. Welp, thought about putting a blown 429 in there, and eating big inch domestics rigs for lunch at the track. But alas, I have WAY too many projects, and only one Gen I that I really don't want to cut.

Yup, and if all goes well, you'll be hookin up with the Rogues in K-falls, so thats another 10 or so rigs that you'll be picking up in the Falls. -

I'm thinking that the Rogue's will prolly be running with your southerners, we'll catch up with you K-Falls, and join the convoy from there through Bend. While we are on the five, I like the idea of the back country road. 5 hours on the five is long and tiresome. Specially when your in a big loud Brat with mud tires whailing the whole way. -
I like that Idea, but to take it a step further, I think you can hook up like 6 PS2's and play GT3 with up to 6 people. Although you would need 6 TV's. I would be down for bringing my PS2 and GT3, and possibly an i-link Hub. Although I wouldn't bring my TV, (30 sumpin incher). Although I think a 19" is pretty cheap. Hmm, me likes this idea. And power isn't much of a problem, I can power my TV and PS2 off the Brat. Ya, lets go with this idea!!!

Don't worry, your not nuts, least not when your compared to half of us on here. Wouldn't be too hard to convert over. All you need to do is get or make a carby intake manifold and the dizzy from a carb'd car. Wire up the dizzy to the ignition box, drop on the carb'd manifold and carby. You don't even have to take out the brain box or any of the wireing.

I think this has been hashed out quite a bit lately. I do have to say, that I used to be the typical die hard "nothing is better than an EA81 guy" But after getting a couple OHC engines, I do have to say that the power is definatly a detirming factor. I have had an equal amount of basically the same problems with both my EA81/71 car and my EA82/ER27 ones. Only thing that you don't have to worry about with an EA81 is timing belts, but if you do regular mainenance, then you don't have to worry. And I've had about 10 times more headgasket failures with the 81 cars than with the 82's, it's all in how you keep up on them, if you give them hell and don't put any work back into them, then ya, they will die a horrible death, this goes for any engine, regardless of what it is.

Ya, it's quite possible, and has been done a few times. You'll need to mix and match the proper clutch parts, make up tranny mounts, and mount the center carrier bearing or have a custom driveshaft made, (5spd D/r's are shorter than EA81 trannies). You can get a 5sp D/r out of an EA82 car, mid to late 80's. If you do a search on the board, there are tonnes of threads that go on almost endlessly about this sort of thing.

You guys are pretty close, but those sepcs are in metric, KG and PS. In english this means that it put out 108Hp and 108 LB/ft of torque. Which really isn't that much over the US spec stuff. The only reason that our stuff is lower is because of all the import standards that have to be met. Not to mention emissions nazi's over here pretty much make auto makers overseas kill their engines when they send em our way. In short, there is nothing wrong with dropping in a bigger/newer engine to get more power. When I built my est. 140Hp EA81, I put nearly 600 bucks, and over 70 hours of time into building it. Thats a lot of work and money. For only 300 bucks, and about 10 hours of fab time I swapped up to the 2.7L and got about 10 more hp and about 35% more torque out of the deal. Not to mention the use of FI right out of the box, which no matter what you say, FI will always make more power than a carb. Now back on topic, it isn't really ALL that hard to get an EJ motor into an EA car, with a little time and money invested into an adapter plate, flywheel spacer, and associated hardware, it really isn't all that hard. Once I have my shop up and rolling, this will be one of the things that NDJ eng. offers to the public. One of the main reasons for this is because of my own jealous greed. I think that it is entirely possible to have an EG33 powered 3-door. I just need to find the time to sit down the put some product together. That and get an EG33 for a reasonable price with computer and harness (it's always the computer that gets you).

ea81 A/C installation.

take apart all your connections, replace ALL the O-rings. also ramove all the old oil, the mineral oil won't play well with the 134's PAG, this goes for the compressor as well as the lines and stuff. I would reccomend getting a new dryer/reciever, this will prevent any problems further down the road, as they tend to build up quite a water content over time, and will degrade your system if you put it in there. Once you have all the connections cleaned, new o-rings, and oil out, install it all, except for the compressor wire. (This prevents accidentally turning on the compressor and frying it, remember, no oil). Take it down to your local shop for a charge. Make sure you tell the tech that it needs a full system of oil, and the compressor line hooked up. Lotsa luck to ya. -
