  1. I would start with checking grounds. Specifically at the switch it's self first. I've run into some weird stuff lately that have all been ground related. Funny how those little buggers can cause so many problems.
  2. Bout time, sheesh, slacker. Whotchya miss? Not much, just that we're having a bar-b-cue and doughnut contest at your place on saturday. Hmm, what else, oh ya, Matt broke, Mike broke, Sean and Ken have been MIA, and I still don't have a kitchen.
  3. Ya, I like the idea of hiding things a little. Thats why my snorkle is going to be grafted into the exoskeleton!! I've heard of some people modifying ones made for like toyota's and whot not for other rigs (one was for a B210 datsun, ) Guess it's a matter of how much work you want to do, and how much dough you want to part with.,
  4. Hey, we haven't really had a full get together in a while, with me working onrebuilding my kitchen, and doing the army thing, Tony moving, and Matt and Mike breaking themselves. . . .. N-E ways, just wanted to see what everyone was up too this weekend, I don't have any real plans, (prolly sleep in for the first time in weeks, eh, maybe not). Don't even really need to do anything fancy. Just a Bar-B-Cue would be awsome. My house is out of the question though, I still don't have a fully functional kitchen. Although the Fridge is still in the carport, and I could set the counter up on the couch. Hmm. Neways, lemme know what ya'll thinks. Also gots to show ya sumpins. Also want to talk over the route to WCSS, should we head upthe 5, or cut over to K-falls and hook up with the Cali/Nev guys?!
  5. The Turbo ran 0-60 in just under 19 seconds, thats all stock with 11psi of booost. The Brat, now that everything is up and running good, hits it in about 18 seconds, would prolly do it faster if I wasn't worried about snapping a rear axle, haven't actually opened her up to her fullest potential yet.
  6. Sure is. Worked just as well on the bumper of the 89 as it did on the moulding (sp?) that runs down the side of it.
  7. I used a 3M double sided tape that was designed for emblyms and badges, had no problems with the stuff either. Used it on the tailgate badges, and they are still holding on 6 years later. The ones that I pulled off for painting, where holy hell to get off too. Can't remember the name of it, just that it was a 3M product, good stuff. As for the bumpers and stuff, Bumper Black is the way to go, I've used it on my 84 and 89's bumpers, and they looks awsome. Brand new! Did the 84's over a year ago, and it still looks just as good, and it's been sitting in the sun for the last 6 months, (awaiting and engine). The stuff I use is made by Duplicolor and is called Bumper Coating. Also good stuff.
  8. welp, I dont' have a digi camera to take the said pics that the webpage requires for submissions, or I woulda sent mine off already. I'll see if I can whip some up here this weekendish.
  9. Ya, we've got some emissions here, but my Brat, being an 82 is outside the 20 year limit, I just tested it because we have the machine at work, and I was curious as to how it was looking. Whats kewl is that I CAN have it smogged if they change the year limits and stuff in my area, cause it will pass with flying colors.
  10. It's a hot wire. ER27's only came with the hot wire post 87 style MPFI. BooYAH!!! Oh man, the power, the pure, unadulterated POWER!! I thought that it had gobs of power before, when it wasn't running right. Just for $h*ts and giggle I took her to work, and threw her on the scope, I had over 6000ppm HC's at an idle, and it dropped to about 4000 at 2K rpms, sucky. I worked on her, and found the problem, drum roll please, GROUNDS. Check you grounds everyone, I had two that had come unsoldered somehow, fixed em up, plugged in the MAF, fired right up. I'm now getting about 750ppm HC's at idle and less than 150ppm at 2K rpms!! I also have full throttle, no more sluggishness, burping, cutting out, back fireing, she runs like a dream!!! On the way home just now, I was rolling at about 30mph, in second gear, about 20% throttle, I floored it, the back tires broke free and the rear end kicked sideways!!!! Still need a new TPS, it's got a couple bad spots, and sometime when coasting to a stop it will stall, but hey, it's running right!!!! So remember kiddies, CHECK. . . YOUR. . . GROUNDS!!!
  11. Every C/W that I've run has given me nothing but good, I swear by em. Had tonnes of probs with the Hitachi's. Found that all the C/W's, feedback or not will run the same with or without a computer.
  12. Ohkay, I've been working on getting the Brat ready for the run up to Hood River, and in the process I hooked up an 02, (8mpg sucks). Ohkay, this doesn't change my mileage any, so I look a little deeper, I'm getting a code 23, somthing wrong with the MAF. Hmm, take a look, find out one of the wires has come out of the connector. Ohkay, no prob, fix the connector, hook it back up, now the trouble starts. Won't start, have fuel, have fire, but won't start. Getting code 21 now, ECT, change that out with a new one. Still have fire, still have fuel, turn the computer off, then back on, it fires and runs for about 5 seconds, then dies, and won't restart till you reset the computer. No codes anymore, flashes a steady 1 (one short, long pause, one short, long pause....) If I unhook the TPS, it will fire over every time, but only run for a couple seconds, same with unhooking the IAC. Unhook both, won't start at all. What I've found out is that I've been running in limp home mode for the last year and half, as I never noticed the break in the wire on the MAF, as it was under the boot on the connector. I unhook my MAF now, putting it back into LHM, and it runs just like it did. But hook everything back up, and nothing. This has really got me bewildered, I've gone through everything I can think of. I've checked all power, all grounds, all sensors wires, all output wires, everything is in good condition. Has anyone else run into this problem before? Specially you XT-6 guys, if so, whot was your fix? My buddy keeps saying that it's the computer, but I don't want to believe it, as it runs ohkay in LHM, that and it took me forever to track down this computer, getting another one would be hell.
  13. still doesn't make much sense, cause all mine have the seats in the back, heck, two of them are only a year off from each other. Kinda makes me wonder bout the Baja, and whot it's listed as, a minivan?? Wouldn't surprise me.
  14. Ohkay, so I was paying my insurence online today, and it went to the page where it lists my vahicles that are on the policy. I noticed somthing rather interesting. My 83 Brat is listed as a "Pickup", where as my 82 is listed as a "Utility" and of course my 80 is listed as a passenger vehicle, no actual designation. Just an interesting point to, uh, point out. This is through progressive, does anyone else see this with their insurence. Would also like to know, for those others with progressive, what your Soobs are listed as.
  15. Oh ya baby!!! Ohkay, here's the scoopage, looks like i might be able to make it out on Sunday for alittle while in the morning. Nothing too serious mind you, as I still need to get back out to the Cove and back to Medford, so I don't want to break anything this time, but I do want to get out in the woods and play around a little. We still on for this?? If so, where we meeting and when, I'm thinking as early in the morning as possible, as I need to be back in the Cove by noonish.
  16. Ya, I live in an area where in pretty much any direction are endless rally- I mean service roads. Before the motor puked up a couple rings my setup was an 84 Turbo Hardtop, 11psi of boost, NDJ Eng. Auto-trans, rear suspension all the way up, front suspension all the way down, Steely-Del proto-type A-frame brushguard with 100 watt halogens. 195-60R13 B.F. Goodrich Radial T/A's, 4 corner disc brakes with 60% rear bias. Lets just say that this car kicked some serious butt when it was running, I went up against a B210 and a couple Nissans, and whoa!! Granted it wasn't actual sanctioned rallye's but one of them I didn't know the course, and the B210 guy did, and I still timed out faster.
  17. Kewl, thanks. Ya there are a few things that I haven't actually come up with, or haven't had the time to work out yet. I've been working about 19-20 hour days for the last week, so I'm kinda tired and busy, but definatly want this stuff out there. One of the biggest complaints is that there isn't enough aftermarket supply for us Old-Gen guys, after hearing so many people talk about this, I've finally decided that in order for there to actually be aftermarket stuff, then people need to step out and do this. I've actually got a lot of experience under my belt, I built hot-rods from the ground up when I was in highschool, learned how to glass, weld, body work the whole nine yards. I've been to college for computer design, electronics, and auto-science. I have about 3 years of Autocad, 4 months of 3D graphics animation design. (I built the prototype S.E.K in GMax, and plotted out all the movements and everthing and watch it work in motion on the computer!!). Plus loads of other experience that I am a little too tired to think of at the moment. Heck, even if people don't really shout out that they are interested right now, I'm sure once I have most of the final products made, pictures taken, and good website up, magzine ads (SubieSport?), and the like, that the support and interest will be there. So ya, keep an eye out, there will be loads of fresh new stuff coming the Subaru way in the next 6 months!!
  18. Hey all, this fall, (late Sept.) I'm going to be putting a lot of the products that I have been working on, up on the market. I want to guage the interest though, before I do so, because I can make one offs, but don't want to spend the money for a building and the extra equipment if I can't get enough sales to warrant it. Some of the things that I will be offering up are fiberglass body parts, (fenders, hoods, ect), Strut eliminator kits, rear coil kits, frame systems, and T-case kits. At the moment they are only for Gen II's, (body parts are for Gen I, II, and III), but will encompass the other Gen's if I get a shop to work on the R&D part of it. Also I have JUST started working on these, and may not be available till late 04, but FI kits for EA81's SPFI and MPFI, bolt on, plug in applications. A lot of the stuff really ain't THAT cheap, example, a strut eliminator kit runs about $200 for standard, and up too $300 for long travel. But, I know that several other people have tried to do the start a shop and sell stuff thing, and failed at it, so I don't want to stick my neck out too much on this, but if the interest is there, and it is genuine, then ya, I have no probs with it. Anyone asking for stuff right now, no can do, I have a very busy schedule until Sept, I don't even have enough time to change the oil in my truck, let alone fill any orders. But anyways, thanks for hearing me out, would love to hear your ideas.
  19. The EA81/82 injectors are the same, they also swap over to the Nissan 200SX, or rather the other way around, the Nissan has adjustable injectors for it, would be a way to upgrade the ol EA motors. The XT-6 uses a different injector, it's a standard bosch topfeed style, doesn't have the hose on the top like the EA's, and isn't a side feed like the EJ's, but you CAN swap them out with virtually any other make, that does use the same injectors.
  20. Ya, I use the Permatex copper spary too, that stuff rocks. I use it on all my rigs, as well as at work, anytime I do a HG.
  21. If I have a Kitchen again by then, then ya, I'm game, but things are lookin a little sketchy right now for me. It'll prolly be one of those last minute decision, to go, or not to go. I would definatly like too though.
  22. I like the idea of this. I've always thought that we needed a magazine for quite some time, and tried to get one off the ground for a while (couldn't find the backing though). While we do have the USMB, there are (believe it or not), A LOT of people that are just as crazy about Soobs as us that don't have the internet, or computers. Specially here in Southern Oregon. And I really think that some of the people, if they passed a mag with Scotts Brat on the cover of it, would prolly try and get on the net, or at least attend a club function or whot not. I other words I think that it could increase our numbers, who knows, WCSS-X might have a couple thousand attendee's with the help of a magazine!! I better go before I start rambling too much. I say go for it. (Need any writers?)
  23. Ya, the dual port EA81 heads are from SUB4, they are brand new, custom castings. Expensive as heck though. Here's their page http://www.sub4.co.nz/
