  1. I don't see why not. Just for a reference, ALL EA82's that are FI use the same pump, regardless of MPFI, SPFI, Turbo.... Even the EA81T and ER27 uses the same pump.
  2. Hey RJ, do you have autocad? if'n ya do I've got a pretty wicked design for long travel in a tight place, I origonally threw it together for a rail project, but should work pretty good in your sitiation.
  3. basically any Fuel Injection external fuel pump will work. You can go from this: http://store.summitracing.com/product.asp?d=18&s=112&p=5178&searchtype=ecat or this: http://store.summitracing.com/product.asp?d=18&s=112&p=4421&searchtype=ecat There are lotsa options out there. The pressure regulator on the fuel rail will take care of the pressure. Unless your doing major mods to the intake and fuel system, a monster pump isn't needed.
  4. Sounds like someone was trying to set up a new welding system on their soobie.
  5. You guys have to think that the pumps are not always calibrated right. I've seen several occasions where they've been way off, 6.5 gallons in a 5 gallon gas can?!?! WTF! When I first got my EA81T tank in the Brat, I went down to fill it up and it took almost 13 gallons!!! I know it's not that big.
  6. If your looking for some more load capacity, do the rear coilover from and ea82 conversion. I hauled 3 EA81's, 2 EA82's (complete motors), two rear suspensions from EA81's (whole thing, torsion bars, and everything from drum to drum), 5 wagon doors, and a buddy. Not sure how much all the stuff weighed, but it dropped the rear end about 2 inches, I'm just really glad that I have over twice the stock horsepower and torque.
  7. When was the last time the cap was replaced? And if recently, are you sure it was tight? Did you take the cap off at when you looked for the leak? Here's what I'm thinking, the cap is either bad or wasn't tight, so when the system got some pressure it pushed pasted it, where of course it goes to the recovery tank. Then if you check the radiator it's self, you may not have noticed it was a little loose, and actually tightened it for the drive home. Which why everything was normal when you got home. I've done this before a number of times. On a side note, every time I wash the Brat, it rains. No matter what time of year, or whot the forcast. It's weird.
  8. Check your grounds, all of them, I had this same problem, would start for a couple seconds then die. Had a bad ground (unattached actually). If I had my pinouts laying around I could tell you exactly which one, but alas, I don't. So pull up a wireing digram, and pinout for the computer and follow all the grounds, make sure the ends are clean and have good contact, as well as the wires themselves, check for breaks in the insulation, or "hanging on by a thread". Lotsa luck, I know how a real pain these things can be.
  9. Oh yeah, it's the right bolt. And the "clamp" of the knuckle is all the way down, the metal is touching. My Brat is just telling me that it doesn't like struts, have to admit, neither do I. Hmm, back to the drawing board.
  10. Well, the Rogue Roo's went out wheeling today. Had a good ol time. But the Brat went down. It still has a problem keeping the struts in the knuckles. This turned out to be a serious downfall. I'm crawlin up a hill, off camber, big ditch. The passenger side knuckle comes off the strut and drops down. No problems while the tire is hanging, but as soon as the tire touched the ground, rotating force of over 150 LBs of torque multiplied by 60 times is thrown into that hanging knuckle and tire assemble, the tiny ball joint on the bottom of the knuckle of course couldn't handle almost 10,000 pounds of force being applied to it, and snapped, flipping the knuckle upside down, and bending the tierod. I've got video of whot it looked like, and there will be pictures up soon. Quite impressive!! Was definatly something else to see the caliper on the front!! Had to wait for parts, did a lot of sittin today, but all in all, it was a good day wheelin.
  11. My Mom n Law has an 85 Sedan with a carb'd motor and a digi-dash with trip computer. Sounds like all the sensors your would need there, don't know if the analog dash has the speedo sensor, or if it's external. I've actually got a trip computer pulled out, and there is a little black box that hooks in there, but real easy to pull most everything you need from the wrecking yard, it's mostly separate from the rest of the harness.
  12. If yer lookin for a ride Mike, I've got an open seat. Er, least I will once I clean out the cab.
  13. It's definatly something that should be done on an offroader, think about it, the sway bar, equalizes the wheel travel, if your right wheel goes up, this will push the sway bar up, which will then pull the left wheel up. Whot this means in the real world is that if you are on a trail, and it's off camber with a bit of a rut to one side, your body is going to roll to the side more, because your tires can't conform to the terrain, they try to stay close to each others height. Thats why I call it a sway bar, rather than the actual anti-sway bar. In my opinion, if I'm side hilling my rig, I would like to have body sitting level, and the suspension un even, rather than the other way around. Also, in the Brat, with over 3000 pounds there, the tiny stock sway bar didn't do a single thing on the road! Just on the trail, kept the suspension from wanting to move that little bit that our suspension can actually move.
  14. Anything with an optical dizzy. 89+ SPFI, MPFI, Turbo, ER27's. I too had a problem with one of these during my motor swap. They are a real pain to get a hold of. Basically all it is is a large transistor, so technically there is a way to make up your own, but you would have to figure out whot size it is any find one that pretty much matches it exactly to work right. Whot it does, one side recieves signal from the ECU, the other side connects to the negative side of the coil. When the computer sends the IA the signal, the transistor closes, grounding the coil, and fireing the spark. The two wires you can see, the third grounds to the coil bracket, which is why you MUST have a good ground through the bracket. Simple, in theory, really. Did a little research, here's whot I came up with, one of these MAY work: http://www.cranecams.com/index.php?show=browseParts&lvl=5&prt=160&PHPSESSID=b2b9f3f451e1f222790845bb7ee2638b http://rds.yahoo.com/S=2766679/K=ignition+amplifier/v=2/SID=e/l=WS1/R=20/H=0/*-http://www.qkits.com/public/qkits/k2543.htm
  15. We're gonna have at least 10 rigs coming from the Oregon boarder up, and passing through P-town there is prolly going to be close to 50ish by the time we get there. I thought about going up through Bend, but it is a bit slower, and harder to keep rigs together, we're gonna have like 10ish coming from the Medford area, at least.
  16. We'll meet up at Tony's place about 11ish on Sunday, his place is on the way out to Jacksonville, so thats the best place to go. I can't wait, mmm, trails!!!!!
  17. Fuji Heavy actually builds a lot of stuff. They do everything from Agraculture to Aerospace, Freight Trucks to Buses. When I was in Japan, one of the buses I rode on from the airport to the barracks actually had a big FHI swoosh on the grill, it was sweet. They also have a houseing division, that builds premanufactured "container" houses. In a sense, they have their fingers in pretty much anything and everything. This is why GM was only able to buy a fraction of Subaru, rather than buying them out completely like they have so many other automakers. here is the link to their webpage. http://www.fhi.co.jp/english/
  18. Ohkay, there was contention, Bekah doesn't want to do the ponds thing, SHE wants to go out and hit some trails, like the topic title says. So, being as how she is a woman, and there is no winning an argument with a woman, we're gonna hit some trails. Johns Peak is pretty close, and we haven't even broken the surface of all the trails out there, so I think that would be a good place to go! Would also like to sit down and plan out the Trip next month, it's a little over a month away, but we should figure how all we're going to do it, get the dates out so people can take time off if they need too. Mmmmm, SAND!
  19. Ohkay, here's the thing, this weekend, it's suppose to be in the high 70's, with sunny conditions. I'm thinking it's good campin weather. I love campin, sittin by the fire, yakkin all night. If everyone is down for it, then a one nighter Sat-Sun would be killer. I don't have a location, not too sure of places to go on this side of the valley, (remember, I'm from up north). I've got a couple of the GP guys I used to hang with that would be down for it too. Lemme know what ya think.
  20. Sweet, now that looks like some fun. Also have to say, thank god for 3 meg cable!!!
  21. Yeah, I could do that, would just have to find the time for it. Got so much to do, and now that I'm working, very little time to do it. I'm gonna be pushing to get everything done to the Brat I want to do before the show. Trust me, there is A LOT going into it too.
