  1. In Seattle? Good weather? Jes jokin, last few times I've been up there it's been good and sunny. Maybe it's me, I bring the sun with me. We need to trade weather for a weekend, I want to go play in the mud, but we don't have any cause of the lack of rain! I'd come up, but I'm a little busy with working on my club events this weekend. Maybe I should take the Rogue Roo's out to the dunes and get some footage for ya Eric? It's only like a 2-3 hour drive for me to the really good stuff! Kinda sux that all the times I've gone out to the sand, I didn't take the camera with me!!!
  2. Just to make sure that your there Tony, we'll be meetin up at your place
  3. There was this place that we did some field manuvers in a few months back out that way. It wasn't too far outside of Keno, Oatman lake, or sumpin like that. It was pretty kewl out there anyways, I was doing the Army thing so I couldn't go out and explore, would be kewl to go check the place out. It's not too far outside of town, and I think I can remember how to get out there. We took Dead Indian. Might be a good place to go.
  4. I can't see the serials on it, or I would tell you for sure. If you want a serious upgrade for your EA82 though, lemme tell you the secret. Take your old RHB5 off, remove in the intake side of the turbo, exposing the compressor. Now remove the compressor. Find yourself an RHB5-2 off a turbo Legacy, early 90's type. Now take off the intake side of the Leg's turbo, both the houseing and compressor, now bolt the Leg's compressor onto the 82's turbo, then put on the Leg's housing, wha Lah, you have have a turbo that puts more boost, but doesn't spool any slower. Now all you have to do is bypass that boost cut problem.
  5. I do this alot. When I first get a vehicle, the first thing I do is run Dextron III in the tranny, it does help to clean things out. Many will say that this is bad for the tranny and blah blah blah. There are quite a few auto makeers out there that actually run ATF in manuals as the recommended fluid. This isn't common on high horse applications, mostly small cars like swifts and metros. If you wanna know a secret, I run AFT in all the fluid applications on a car when I first get it, to include the engine. When I first got my ER27 it had the all too common lifter tick, ran ATF through the motor for 30 minutes, drained and refilled with 10W30, wha lah, no more lifter tick.
  6. Kewl. Sounds like Tony isn't going to be around this weekend, although I think he should be back on Sunday. I'll find out whot his schedule is going to be, I'll also get with the Ashland guys and see whot they're up to too. Prolly be in Medford on Sunday sometime.
  7. So, whot is everyone doing this weekend? I'm pretty free. I've gotta help a buddy move over is Medford anyways, so I'll be over there.
  8. All of my exploring has been on the North end of the Valley, and I still haven't been everywhere. You guys know, you can never follow ALL the trails around here, heck, we have more dirt and gravel than pavement! I would really like to head out into some new terrain, so if someone else wants to take on planning out the trails and campsite (if'n we're up for camping, I always am), then I have no problems with that. I don't really like to go in for the one specific leader type of organizations, I think everyone has the right to take on the lead at least once. I'm just as happy making the dust as eatin it. Would be really kewl to set up a little get together sometime in the near future to check out everyone's rigs and jes chat 'n stuff. One weekend in the next week or two.
  9. SPFI is throttle body injection. It uses one large injector in the throttle body rather than individual injectors. Think of it as a cross between carbs and injection.
  10. For all intensive purposes, I don't think that this upcoming run will require a lift. Heck, Tony (Soobme) isn't running any lift on his rig, and ran just fine with Brian and me. As I said for my first run, the more the better!!
  11. SWEET!!!! Check the meet and greet section, got a date, the 22nd of Nov. Hopefully we'll actually have some snow. Might end up going over to the Klamath side of the hill to actually play in some. The Rogue Valley has been unusally warm for this time of year. Not to mention that the precipitation has been nill to non. So K-fall will prolly be the better place to go. I'm stretching the legs on the Brat, going on further and further trips. The 22nd is when I plan on having the Brat dialed in as far as fuel comsumption and whot not, so I should be ready by then.
  12. This will be the maiden trail trip for the new Southern Oregon group of Soob nuts, the Rogue Roo's, named for our location, the Rogue Valley. Although anyone is invited to come along with us, we will be out in search of mud and snow if at all possible, so far it's lookin like it's going to be a really warm winter, but with luck, next month will bring on the fluffy white stuff. A location has yet to be concluded, but it will prolly be out of either White city, or Jacksonville as there are some pretty high locations up there, and it's the center of the Valley. Hope to see you there!
  13. Yeah, thats exactly whot I was thinking. I'm gonna get started on planning out a least a day trip next month. I would like to have at least 6 Soobs running with us this time (twice as many as last time) Would be really kewl to try and double our numbers every 3 or 4 months, and it wouldn't be too hard with the number of Soobies down here!
  14. Hey Brian, you don't even need the glass, as it will be different, jes make sure you get the innards that make it work, as for the switches, if you want door mounted ones, look for a 3dr with power windows, they had two switches on the the Dr door, and 1 switch on the Pas door. The wireing will work the same, you might have to swap out a connecter or two, but they are the same. I was going to do this with mine, and this is how I was going to do it.
  15. Was playin around in photoshop, and came up with a pretty good banner! Check it out, the one in my sig is kinda small, so this one is better to see.
  16. Hey General, sure your not in my unit? I do that with my stainless coffee cup on my duece. I've also gone as far as making up a metal loop that a 1L of Mt. Dew fits into nicely and that hooks into my magnet and holds the Dew nicely. (I drink Dew way more often than coffee, in fact, I've been told by many that my blood is prolly green). As for cup holders in my cars, wouldn't work, the only cup I use is a 64oz Circle K or 7-11 cups, and I haven't found a cup holder on the market that fits them. (have one that holds my cup in the Brat that I made, don't wanna mess with the HT to do that though).
  17. I've been searching for people in my area with Soobs go out wheelin with, I found Toney earlier this year, and now I have two more potential members. I met up with one of the guys on Friday, and he's pretty kewl, deep into the addiction like most of us. Well I didn't get his number, and he lives in Ashland, where I do my Army thing. I was leaving the Armory headin to Medford when my "Subie Sense" started tingling, I caught a glimps of something out of the corner of my eye, and told my buddy to pull over NOW, he pulls over and the "something" I saw was a Hatch, er, an UnHatched, with no doors. I was the same guy I had talked to at his work. His brother was there, with, get this, a Justy, this thing has been modded to heck and back again. He has the front end "bobbed", radiator in the back, and a set of ATV rims and tires on it. I know for a fact that these are my kinda people. I didn't get to stay long as I was due at the shop. I gave em the board's address, so hopefully they will be logging on soon. With any luck, we'll be the Southern counterpart of the Hatch Patrol! I'm stoked. Oh yeah, took out the buddy I was riding with in the Brat (Toyota guy) he was very impressed with the Brat! Might have our numbers nearing 5 or 6 by the end of the year!
  18. No prob, do you have any messenger services? I'm on yahoo, Adam_NDJ if you run into any probs, you can drop me a line and I can help ya out.
  19. Sorry to confuse people. my lift drops the sub components (i.e. crossmember, torsion bar, ect) but leaves the motor and tranny up in the engine bay, so I didn't have to come up with new linkages with this set up (although I did have it the same as Hasseys at one point, those linkages are laying around if anyone wants them, 4spd D/r). I also moved the engine and tranny back about 2 inches to make a little more room for my radiator up front. Still don't have enough room for the fan between the engine and rad, so it's in front of the rad.
  20. The problem with these old stereos is that they use a common ground system for the speakers, this doesn't work with new aftermarket stereos. You will want to run your own speaker wires, directly to the speakers. The black striped wire is ground, and the old speakers had the polarity on the connector. The blue wire is your switched hot, this is the one that you want to run to your decks red wire. The yellow wire on the deck is the constant hot for the memory features, for this one you can run a wire straight to the battery, or if you find a non switched hot, (like the one for the clock memory) run it to that one. Then just like Hassey said for the speakers.
  21. When you say turbo heads, I'm thinking that you are refering to the EA82 turbo heads, the EA81T's have a single intake port like the NA's. Then SUB4 heads are REALLY REALLY spendy, I looked into those also. What you could do, if you are pretty good at welding aluminum, is drill out ports into the "bubbles" in the head, the block off the single one, then make up a flange and weld it to the new holes in the head, then make up an intake to match, would be interesting to see, also would be pretty interesting getting to the spark plug. You'd also have to make up something to run the water lines for the thermo houseing and heater and the crossover.
  22. Are you worried about the paint? If not, you can use aircraft paint remover (found at pretty much any parts store), this stuff will remove anything, down to the bare metal. If not, then you can get some glue and label remover that works ohkay, you jes have to put on one coat, then wait about 5 minutes, then apply another coat.
  23. I'm thinking that you have an entire car harness your working with here. What you should do is find your computer connectors, and then follow them and trim them out from the rest of the harness, this will make things easier. You will need to modify the EA82 dizzy to work in the EA81, I'm thinking there is a page on the USRM that tells how to do this. This is integral as the computer uses the signal from the dizzy to fire off the coil and time the injectors. Then you will need to swap all the sensors into the EA81 block. There won't be the orifice for the knock sensor to plug into though, unless you get an EA81T block. Just follow the diagram and keep to it. You will need to make sure that all the powers and ground are perfect, just one ground that isn't connected will make everything not work, this is what happened to me. As for connecting the power, get a fuse bar, then from your ignition switch run a switch hot to a relay to feed the fuse bar, run 10A fuses for the system, you should have at least 3 fuses, as the injector harness has their own power supply, as well as the computer and some of the sensors, you will find at least 3 power wires when you run through the scematic, there are more, but some of them are run together. Each ground should be run individually, you can drill some small holes in the fire wall, and connect up the ground with self tapping screws. This is important though, cause a loose ground can pop a computer. Also, don't forget the ignition amplifier, it is on the coil bracket, this is important to the coil fireing, there is a condensor in the IA circuit, this is pretty important too, make sure it's in there, it doesn't look like a regular old condensor though, it's a grey or black box that is connected to a 2 wire plug, the box looks like it's just a plug cap though. Lotsa luck to ya. If you have any problems, lemme know.
  24. Yeah, I did leave out a few things (like the 3rd radius rod block), as I just made this up while I was bored over in Egypt. Some of the measurements in the cad are a little off, I was planning on actually sitting down and doing the measurements on my Brat then making a new one from there for everyone with cad programs. I actually have two cross runners on the front, one is my lower tranny mount, and the other is my engine mount (cause the engine and tranny are sitting up in the stock location, not on the stock mounts, for the T-case setup).
  25. The engine from the EA81 back have the timing gear setup. The gears are on the back of the motor, behind the bellhouseing. Here is a pic for ya'll. it's not all that great, but you can get a good idea of it.
