  1. I am sure if you managed to get a group together you could import a couple of containers full of parts and panels ,use what you want and sell the rest. You can by a NZ dollar for 65cents US.About six months ago it was 45cents US.Contact a local importer from your end for shipping costs if you are serious, let me know what you are going to do and I will source the parts required from here. Kevin.
  2. Been going through the forum and seeing alot of rust problems. It just might be conceivable to import parts from my home New Zealand.Subarus are very popular over here and there are plently sitting in wreckers yards.Fibreglass panels for series one brats were available and after market panels for series two brats including doors ,bonets(hoods). You maybe surprised how cheap it could be and what you can find over here.
  3. Ea71 and Ea81 pistons are the same item. The difference with the Ea81 motor is that it has a longer stroke which gives it a higher CC rating. You can put them in either motor with no problems at all Ive done it.subaru brat 84 subaru gsr coupe 72 subaru gsr coupe 74 subaru legacy 94 subaru dl1400 75
  4. Head gasket sounds about right but you may have to get your heads milled off if there is any pitting.Do you run it on anti freeze .If you dont you shout as this helps to stop head corosion.Plain water is not a good idea for alloy heads.
  5. I have been ready alot in the forum about the rust problems you guys in the states are having.Subarus are a very poular car here in New Zealand and there are plenty sitting in wreckers yards over here. Has anyone ever given thought to getting a group together and import a couple of containers full of panels. You might be surprised at what you can get and the cost.
  6. Just done some rust repairs on my brat today, not as bad as your thankfully. Here in New Zealand series one finished in 1980 and series two started that same year and we continued the brat range until 1992.There were fibreglass panels available for the series one and you could get after market panels from taiwan for the series two models. If you want I can try and locate the supplers of these very important parts.Hate to hear of another Subaru going to subie heaven.
  7. If you really want it,you will find a way I always do.I just dont tell my wife until the deal is done.Maybe a bit tight for cash for awhile but you will come right.Think about it and if you can swing it go for it.
  8. Thanks for your reply.I would like two front guards(fenders) and it would be good to get doors as well.Panels for brumbies are hard to get here in NZ.Any help would be great.Would anyone like to swap a left hand drive ute for a right hand drive.Regards Kevin.
  9. Did the US get a Subaru coupe produced in 1974 called a GFT.Here in New Zealand we had GFT,GFA,GF5,.The GFT was what you would refer to as a luxury model with a plush interior with all the options of the era. There is only one left in NZ and it is under restoration by its owner.
  10. Thanks for your reply and I will put photos on in the near future. Thanks for the info as well.
  11. Hello from New Zealand My son and I own a 1972 sub GSR coupe. It is the only one left in NZ on the road. It took us two years to restore it and parts are very hard to get.We would still like to aquire whatever parts we can get to help keep it on the road in years to come.I also have a 1975 DL1400 sedan in storage waiting to be restored. And I have a1984 brat which I would like to get new doors and guards for.My wife owns a1994 Legacy and my father owned his first Subaru in 1972 and brought a new one each year until my mum and dad were killed in a car crash. My father had Subaru GFT coupe in 1974 and I just loved it. I would love to own one but there is only one left and the owner will never part with it.Needless to say I am another Subaru nut and look for ward to talking to other nuts and seeing photos of members pride and joys.
