YES YES World USMB meet in NZ
subGSR replied to subGSR's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
My home is yours if you make it over. -
TWO DOOR ,TWO DOOR,TWO DOOR SEDANS There must be someone out there who knows of these models or where one is.
-
Is subarob still on this forum? If not how do I contact him.
-
If anyone comes across an older early 70's model Subaru do not strip it or wreck it if you can help it.These cars are now ,after being on this board extremely rare and are worth keeping to restore. If you find one and can get for a low price take it.These cars will be worth something in the future, and it would be a shame to just sit back and see these cars disappear for good. And if you do find something please contact me as I would be interested.

Do it, you yanks have plenty of money(no offence I hope to the term yanks if so let me know) -
Wow there has only been a 1000 members look at the GSR photo's.Where are the other 3000?(just kidding)
-
Is that photo what I think it is, or is it another photoshop materpiece.Other wise it looks awesome but my plan was for a four door.
-
Are you saying it has two exhuast ports per head. One at the front and one at the rear of each head.Normal EA81 heads have the port at the bottom in the middle of the head.
-
Yeh its a big job.Maybe a two year project if it gets of the ground. But I think there is enough work in a crew cab model yet alone a six setter limo type. Thanks for your comments though its good to get other peoples point of view and ideas.
-
Yes just like a crew cab.Read my answer to phatbrat.
-
Sorry phatbrat I don't think we are on the same wave length.I would cut the front portion off just in front of the T Tops. Then I would cut another from behind the T Tops doing away with the deck.Seewhat I am doing. The brat will be about another half length longer.Where you used to sit to drive will become the back seat.Extra chasiss will need to be made and strenghtening as well.It can be done and I"m in the right job to do it.Its just finding the time and another T Top brat. Then its a matter of joining the two halves together.I have sorted out the door problem which isn't a major problem. As for the cost ,well it won't be to bad, it will just be my time as I have my own small engineering business and all the gear and knowhow to do a project like this. Its still a challenge but can be done!If you can get stretched limos and you know how long they can be why not a stretched Subaru ute.

So the FE (GL) was stripped for parts?.What a waste of a good car.I don't know of any of that model left except the one in the photo and its to far gone.Your wagon looked cool.We all live and learn by our mistakes and boy I make plenty of them in my life.
-
Well I told you I could be wrong. Its obvious that there is alot of difference to the eng's you got and the ones we got.We started the EA81 in 1982.The EA71 was phased out in 1981.And no hydraulic lifters that I know of in the models in the early 80's.But who knows I'm learning alot on this site and I thought I knew heaps about early sub's after all I've been involved with them since 1972.But it is clear there are alot of different types of eng's for the Subaru's.Good luck with what ever you are doing.
-
Where did you get rid of the coupe.Do you know who owns it.It looked in real good condition. Can it be traced and found.Where is the wagon that is in the photo gallery?
-
As far as I know EA71 didn't have hydraulic lifters.I have heaps of info and books on earlier models and I don't believe EA63,EA71,EA81 had hydraulic lifters. But I could be wrong. But I think in your case you are safe.

2003 WRX STi motor install in 88' Wagon
subGSR replied to WagonBoy's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
Wow $500 for all that. You would pay at least $2500 to $3000nz over here for that, well done.See there are good reasons for living over there .Things are cheaper. -
Why do you want to know.Whats the problem with JDM motors. We have Jdm motors imported all the time by Jap car part importers and as far as I know there isn't any problems. My 4WD 84 wagon was an import and apart from a few more hoses and different carb the motor is basicly the same.
-
I"m lucky because it in my line of work. I am a sheetmetal engineer by trade.Just toiling with the idea but have already figuered out how to do it.
-
Just a normal twin cab like all other ones. With twin T tops on the front and the standard deck behind.
-
What do you fine people think of a twin cab brat with twin T Tops.It means cutting into two brats and making one good one.Has this been done before.By the way for those who are after the taildoor strip I haven't forgotten they are on there way to being made.
-
I will see what I can do.
-
The split gate model never came here. All other info is on the E mail I sent you.
-
Find someone talk it over and contact me.I am surprised you didn't have them over there. They were very common overhere.
-
The rims I can get and I think the mirrors as well.Let me know and if the price is right I'll send them over.
