  1. Finally found a heap of photos I thought I had lost including a mint FF1 set up for racing. It has been in storage for about 20 years.A friend owns it and it was her fathers. He used to race it in the early 70s.Thanks for the offer of tail lights mcbrat but she has more spare parts than FHI.Her father was the local Subaru dealer. He aquired all parts for older sub from all dealerships in NZ.I have a set of those mags on my brat.
  2. That is going to look awesome when its finished well done great job so far.I have been thinking lately about doing a twin cab Brat with 4 sun roofs. What do you think.Has anyone done that overthere.
  3. You wouldnt have to bring your cars just heaps of photo's and videos of your subs.I know its a long shot but just think how good it would be.I would organise a bus tour to subaru collectors and peoples back yards to see what they have.By the sounds of things we have more older models left for you to see.And I am sure that sponsership can be arranged.Even if you only send a small committee over to have a look get some photo's and then report what they saw to other members when they get back. And who said we had plenty of money!.It costs more from here to go there because of the exchange rate. How many other Kiwis are members of USMB if there is enough and we contact each other we may be able to arrange a trip.As it is I might be traveling alone.if there is no one else overhere.Paul I wasn't going to give your name as I didn't want you to get into to much !@%$#&*#$.
  4. Just boosted post in the hope of someone knowing of two door sedans. Two door sedans,Two door sedans ,Two door sedans.Has anyone guessed I want a two door sedan!!!!!!!.
  5. It has been lowered 2" since photo's were taken.Hope to have more photo's soon and maybe video of it.
  6. Please heed my advice and if you get a WRX-STI don't mess with the engine to try and make it go faster. They go fast enough from the factory and if you don't know what you are doing you will stuff the car.The models we get do 240kmph I think thats fast enough. Not one to put you off ,but high performance means high maintainance.Keep it simple and leave the car standard. They have more power and speed than most. Regards Kevin
  7. C'om guys nobody has given me any info on two door sedans. Please give me some info on the cars if you know of any. Thanks Kevin.
  8. Oh baby yes yes yes come over here for your meet.Come to the lower part of the south Island which has the largest Sub population in NZ.To the USMB Please consider this as an option.I would do all the leg work and organising from this end.Sorry I can't supply a 747,I just sold it last week.It didn't have horizontally opposed engines.WOW what a thought and it wasn't mine.It was some one on the board.Great Idea to you know who.Look forward to meeting you USMB members. It might be possible to get some sponsership from automotive companies over here and Subaru of NZ might come to the party with some funds as well. There is always a way of getting some financial assistance if you put the effort into it.Not this year but maybe 2005 or 2006. Regards Kevin.
  9. I'm not sure but I tought the UK was still behind the times and still in MPH.And as for the spelling we spell it kilometres not kilometers.Don't ask me why but your way looks better. Now Wagons only, are you taking up my offer for some where to stay, or are you offering me .My son is 18 and I'm sure you would both get on really well.Dam I wish I won Lotto cause I would be at your back door in a flash.moosens(aka Paul)I will ring you soon, just been abit busy at the moment.I want to send a video tape of some very interesting images that I am sure you will like but I think our video format is different to the US.
  10. Well I have had some offer's of acomodation in the US and I would like to extend an offer to all members and friends of members accomodation(free of course).I would really like to meet you guys and show you around. You will be surprised at how many older generation Subs are still on the road over here.My number one plan is to go to Japan with my son and go to a car show and to FHI.The US just has to be next and to see the models we don't get and never got would be awesome.Let me know of anyone heading this way I will show them a good time but they must come to the south island ,thats where I live. Regards Kevin
  11. If anyone or you know of someone who is coming to NZ for a holiday let me know.I will show them true southern hospitality. And a place to stay and will help them in any way.I know of one subaru collector you guys might drool over.I suppose there are good things living here and good things living there.I want a two door sedan!!!!!!.Don't come here without telling me and very important don't go to the north island ever! it sucks. All the good Kiwi's live in the south island.
  12. I have been woundering what it might be worth as it is the only 72 in NZ.I also have a 74 GSR which are different to the earlier models. The 72 cost $6000nz to fix up and then some @#!*&%@! backed out of there drive right into the left side as my son was driving by.I have burrowed $5000 from my wife to get it back on the road hopefully before the end of august. The car was insured but as my son is under 25yrs the excess was to high and isn't worth claiming. If you or anyone knows a serious collector tell them about it as I would be interested to know what someone would be prepared to pay.It is possibaly one of only 10 left world wide.
  13. Yeh the RSK-B4 would nice to have .Can get a 95-98 model for about 20,000 to 25,000nz but my wife won't let me and anyway it is getting to pricey for me .They go really well but cast alot to run(speeding tickets).Excellant fed back guys thanks alot.
  14. Don't worry MW you will soon be 42 yourself.Believe me it comes around fast, but the important thing is I don't feel 42 maybe 22 and thats the main thing. So live life while you can and live , breath , and dream Subaru. And no I haven't taken offence to your comment I am smiling as I write this.
  15. I replied to your other post about the carb problem. The mechanic I mentioned in that post managed to isolate the actual cause these carbs had.As far as I know after his rebuild there are no continuing problems, and the car runs perfect.
  16. I can't really help you with your data base as I live in New Zealand but its a shame that you don't have mechanic's willing to work on older cars. There is no problem with that over here in almost any workshop.I have a mechanic for my 1972 GSR who did his apprentiship on them and is still working for the local Subaru dealer. The carb problem you have is a common one but a mechanic who I don't know his name ,figured out the problem and can repair them successfully. All the best in your quest.
  17. Bummer about the Baja.I thought it looked great.I know they would sell well over here.So you don't get twin turbo's another bummer. The WRX-STI over here are 206 kilowatt,I don't know what that is in horse power.A friend of mine has a WRX-RA and is 253KW.The RA means that its panels are alluminium. Are twin turbo's illegal over there.
  18. Yeh WRX's are very popular and have been here since the early 90's.But they are very expensive and way out of my league. You will pay $30,000nz for a late model jap import. But we don't have the Baja. What an awesome looking sub.Do you have the legacy RSK-B4 twin turbo model. What I really want is the early model DL1400 two door sedan. We never got that model either.
  19. Well the more I get on to USMB the more I want to go over there.Just how popular are subs in the US.You guys seem to live and breath subs as I do but I feel alone over here compared to all you sub nuts that have so many people who share the same hobby(SUBARUS).There are plenty of sub nuts over here as well but not to the extent as you guys.I just love getting on here and reading everybodies thoughts and problems and just general gas bagging. Are they as popular as they seem on USMB.Thanks everyone for stopping me from getting bored at night(my wife does't thank you).By the way we pronounce Subaru SU-BAR-U not SU-BOO-RU.Just thought you would like to know.
  20. Awesome brat. Its butch and mean and says don't mess with me when you look at it.We don't have lift kits that I know of here and they most likely would not be road legal. But I would love to have mine looking like yours.Have fun in it!
  21. A very hard question to answer. I love all Subarus but I do have a soft spot for the earlier models as they are the start of the Subaru blood line that we all love today.A WRX-STI would be nice though. But I must say that cruising in the GSR is an awsome feeling even though its over 30yrs old it still has style and class.Hey but all Subarus have style and class don't they.
  22. Sounds a little exspencive to me.Here in NZ fibreglass guards were popular with your model and did fit really well.I'm not a 100% sure but I think you could pick up a set for around $300nz even today.Your money your choice.
  23. Yes ezy out is the answer. But if you can get things back together and start the engine and get it heated up and while its still warm spray penetrating lube and use the ezy outs it should be easier to remove the broken studs. If this isn't possible, if you can apply heat with a gas torch, just enuogh to heat the area you want the studs should move with plenty of lube and the ezy outs.
  24. I will make a comittment and say I will have photo's posted in about 3 weeks showing the strip and a rear door skin. Kevin
