Good luck. Damn that car is clean..

Ha, funny you posted that. Saved me yesterday when I changed the oil pump for Glen on here (guy with the green wagon). One of the cams must have rotated and after all was said and done the car wouldn't start. I tried futzing around with the timing by myself for about 20 minutes and then gave up, watched your video, and had the car running again in literally like 5 minutes. Thanks for those videos Miles. They are awesome.

I noticed lateral slop in my rear axles. I noticed that the pass. side axle had more slop side to side than the driver's side. I first checked the axles because there was an occasional clunking noise coming from the rear. 5 months later my rear axle broke. (pass side) Replace your axles. Or remove them.

I know that there's a system in place so that cuts the compressor when you hit the gas a certain amount..maybe you could use that system some way to do what you're thinking? It works that way so that if you say floor the accelerator, the compressor cuts off so that it's not draining any power from the engage, allowing you to get that pick up quickly. You can actually hear it happening, and it doesn't even require full throttle. Even half throttle shuts it off IIRC

Just finished up that job. Didn't touch the A/C Condenser or the radiator at all. Thanks for the tips. Now I know

If you guys say so. When I changed my oil pump, I didn't hesitate to get it out of the way, but that was because my a/c didn't really work to begin with and I also don't really care for air conditioning. I'm hoping it is as easy as you all say, because I remember really appreciating how much room I had to work with when I had the radiator and the condenser out of my way lol

Race him in the snow. Or in the woods. -
Wanted to get the condenser out of the way if possible. Make life easier. Whether that happens or not is dependent on whether there's an easily attainable way to replace the r-12 though.

Makes me think of a couple of things. Coolant, as you said, but I've heard it make more of a whooshing noise, and something you couldn't feel. Speedometer cable. Might want to check that out. And the input shaft on the transmission and/or throwout bearing. Do you feel it in the shifter when it does it?

Radio Cutting in and Out Problems

Yeah, are you talking original radio? Aftermarket? How are the speakers wired in, and are they using the original wiring? Need some more details to help out more. -
Been skimming through here; good points across the board. Too sleepy to say much but one thing that touches on jeszek's point of it being fun; My brother has a 1.8 fwd 94 Impreza. It rides great, handles great, looks good with the snowflake rims on it. It will cruise at 100 all day with no complaints. My point here is that Cruising at 75 in the Impreza is a comforting...smooth thing... Cruising at 75 in the Loyale, however, is an adrenaline rush sensation. In newer cars, when you're driving at speed, you don't really notice. In the older cars, when you're doing 75 it really feels like you're hauling serious rump roast. That's my quick point. Buenos noche.

Looked through that gallery and lol-ed every time I saw the Forester. So much body roll! It looks like the guy was driving the sh** out of it though! Also loved the Corvette somebody dared to take out there. Nice album. -
87 GL Vibration 2500-3500RPM
l75eya replied to Frank T's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
Do you hear any mis-firing when it happens? Is the engine running smooth? Backfires, popping, etc? Have you tried shifting through the gears manually and, if so, does that help? Has it always done it since you've gotten the car? 53k, that's just about where my car was when I got it Check your transmission fluid. -

Loose wire. Run new wire to rule it out. Takes 10 minutes. -
The sedan really is great. I'd love to have a 3-door though. The wagon just seems to me to be a beast for anything. 3-door wins the looks category though. Does your sedan handle very well? The Loyale on the left is a 2wd car, so it's lower, and I swear it handles great. I take turns in that car like you wouldn't believe, man, it drives like it's on rails. I love it. I've always though about how awesome it would be if it had some good tires on it. The GL, however, is 4wd and sits up quite higher. It drives like a truck. It's crazy how different they are.

Two peas in a pod?

It's slow. Don't be afraid to wind out the gears, my GL sees the redline usually once a week, at least. Don't use the 4wd on ANYTHING but slippery surfaces like snow ice mud and loose gravel. If you use it on pavement you will break something. Its not the same as AWD. Treat it well and it will treat you the same.

Need an Oil Pump for a '94 Loyale...and water-pump
l75eya replied to GlenSz's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
Pretty sure his is factory A/C. Factory A/C is inboard A/C, correct? Glen, looking at your engine from the front of the car, is your alternator on the far right side of the motor (driver's side) with nothing else further to the right of it other than the battery? -
#just run the wires.# Damn Swype.
-
Just run the woes directly to the speaker. Eliminate the possibility of a faulty wire. Or go grab a known good speaker and hook that up real quick just to see if you get any sound. Make sure the balance and fade are in their default positions. Make sure the head unit it's definitely outputting sound. Play a CD. It's either Incorrect wiring Faulty wires Completely blown speakers User error Or faulty equipment.
