  1. Straight from owners manual: Capacity:fwd 6.0 quarts Dex 2 AWD 6.4 quarts Dex 2 Refill after drain: add 2 quarts, check and fill accordingly.
  2. Ok, number one, leave the car off, wheels in the air (tires still on), no emergency brake, car in neutral. Grab a tire, give it a spin. If you can't turn the wheel, you have a problem. If you can, good. Next; Sit in front of one wheel, grab it with both hands, one at 3 o clock, one at 9 o clock. Now push with one hand as you pull with the other, gently. Do that Back and forth (alternating push/pull hands). Do this in a fashion that you're not using enough force to actually make the wheel turn, but do it firmly. There should be no rocking, no play. Do the same thing again but with your hands at 6 and 12o clock. (Be mindful for the brief time your fingers are underneath that tire though) Once again there should be no play.
  3. I should rephrase that. The auto isn't great. It's just... Not problematic really lol
  4. If I were you, I think my first project would be trying to convert it to a 5 speed. The auto is great but shifting is fun.
  5. They're pretty capable in the snow even in 2wd due to the weight of the motor being directly over the drive wheels. 4wd swap is pretty straightforward, but a little involved. That's got a 3 speed auto. Don't be concerned about it revving up to about 3,800rpms at 65-70mph. These things can rev to the moon and back and I've personally logged over 30,000 miles on the automatic. Most of them highway miles. I try to keep it right at 4k rpms but I've cruised for a bit with it spinning at close to 5k. These engines are bulletproof.
  6. I know what everybody says is the right way to do it and I'm not saying I disagree, but; I slapped in a maxima alt four years ago and did nothing else. Running fogs and 1000 watt amp, I've yet to burn out a fusible link or anything else for that matter...
  7. Pretty sure the 4 or the 5 refers to auto or manual trans. So, so long as you're not getting parts pertaining to the trans, it doesn't matter which one they put.
  8. Alright man, it's been just about a year now. How many pictures are you taking!?
  9. My boss has basically snap on everything. I have garbage tools because I'm just starting out. To be honest though, the only snap on tools of his that I do really like are the wrenches. The open ended wrenches serrated precision grip are unreal. Personally, I'm leaning towards MAC Tools to start building up a quality set with.
  10. I use a DeWalt impact every day at work. When somebody else has the DeWalt,i use the snap on. Then, after the snap on fails to get the job done, I go get the DeWalt. So yeah, go DeWalt.
  11. Calmasters! Nice wagon!
  12. Well since July of last year to this date today, I've amassed a bit over 13k miles on the tin can. He's sitting at 108,xxx right now and I'll be putting another 450 miles on him tomorrow. I put 2,000 miles on him over the past 2 1/2 weeks. I've been doing a lot of driving lately.
  13. Retroroo is *the* place to go in the Denver area. Doubtful anybody else around has nearly as much experience or knowledge with these cars and swaps.
  14. I know 1.8s and 2.2s swap in no problem, just gotta modify the engine mount holes in the xmember a little. A turbo 2.2 I don't know.
  15. Just add a relay to the signal wire going to the starter. Google ultimatesubaru old gen won't start click add relay. That'll get you set.
  16. Next time it locks up, crack open the bleeder screw. If that releases it your problem isn't the caliper, it's the brake hose itself. It has collapsed inside and will allow fluid to move only in one direction.
  17. Normal holes. I have the same thing on my gl and freaked when I saw them. Everybody here said they're normal. Checked my other ea82 and it has them as well.
  18. Thanks Bennie. I know the ej18s are bullet proof. I feel the ea82s are just as reliable though. Just pretty gutless. I'm sure I'll be happy with the ej.
  19. Scott there isn't much you CAN'T do hahahaha, I'm trying to keep costs down and work with what I've got though. You got new interested on the escort disty though, do you have anything i can read about that?
  20. You want a dual range 5 speed. It's straightforward and awesome. It will have two sticks. One for gear changes, one to activate 4wd modes. Push button is single range and vac operated you will have to run a vac line and wire the switch in.
  21. You will use the ecu and wiring harness from the newer model Subarus. Preferably(for simplicities sake) the one you get the motor from.
  22. Did you shut the car off at the end of that video? And the clicking in the background, is that the relays you were talking about? I would suspect one of those relays is going out.
  23. I would like to go for as clean an engine bay as possible. I've even thought about going with carburetion, but the parts are hard to find. I'll look into the 2.2 intakes. I have no reason to keep the egr. Is there any point in throwing on different heads? 2.2, 2.0? Any compression gains, losses.? I'm going to be resealing the motor while I have it on the stand so any potential swaps/modifications I'm trying to figure out now. I might get a regrind in the cams if it's not too costly.
