Just for search reference though, not all cars have the screw down rotor. Depends on the distributor if I'm not mistaken, vehicles with the screw down cap have a screw in rotor, vehicles with the snap on caps do not have the screw. My carbed 87 has the snap on one The 93 fuel injected Loyale has the screw down one. To OP, glad it was a simple fix! -
Probably an exhaust leak. And a rich condition.

I personally would be very intimidated on a highway with that thing attached to the back of my car. If I were you, I'd clean the trailer up and flip it, and try and find yourself one of those pop-up campers. That would be a bit more ideal for your purposes I think. Or just use the Explorer. That shouldn't really have any issues, though I'd imagine it could still be a little hairy going down a lengthy hill with it. Keep overdrive off.

Don't think GLs had a parking light switch until 87. His is 86. Where is your hazard signal switch located? Is it on the dash on the left side of the steering wheel, or is it located on the steering wheel column. If you need headlights, wire them in temporarily to a switch. Don't forget a fuse. -
That is a big rump roast garage! lol And I'd STILL take the GL-10 over the Raptor or the other Roo. Well..maybe I'd take the Raptor...sell it and get 10 or so GL-10's.

That sounds like a fun sorta short. Good luck hunting it down. Obv. has to do with your reverse light (and the switch on the shifter) and your brake lights (and the switch on the brake pedal). Start huntin' Pray tell; does this car happen to have an aftermarket anti-theft / alarm system installed? -
EA82 T.P.I. has no top end power

Also the EGR being faulty would not prevent your car from doing over 55. Have had a bad EGR and regularly do 85. It's not that. -

Yeah, Pennsylvania is pretty stringent with their vehicle inspections. They looks at *everything* and rust usually prevents your car from passing. However, some garages are more lenient than others. Jersey, on the other hand, will put a sticker on your car so long as it passes emissions. No matter what. Literally. Broken windshield, missing tail-light, no brakes, wires sticking out of the wheels, doors that won't open, a frame about to snap in half; It's considered safe in New Jersey so long as it doesn't hurt mother Earth. -
I reiterate the above comments and admire the integrity of that vehicle. Looks great. I always find it intriguing to look at the crumple zone design on the inner fenders on the body of the car. If you've seen Ben, our 93 Loyale, you'll know that his crumple zones were put to the work, and the design really does work 100 percent as it is intended to. Minimal energy transfer to the occupant in the vehicle, and the front of the car just crumples right at that spot. Here's to TDF never having to have it's crumple zones used though, of course!!!

Sounds like your inspection guy was in a bad mood. I'd just go to a different inspection place, personally. PA is such a pain in the rump roast with that sometimes -

It also sounds like you're using it on improper surfaces. 4WD is not like AWD. It should only be engaged when you're on dirt, mud, or snow. Not pavement. Not wet pavement. If you try and use your 4WD vehicle like an AWD vehicle, you will break stuff. Also, as posted above, if you have any tires on your vehicle that are mismatched, different size, relatively different tread depths even patterns; you are still going to be causing strain to your drive-train. -

Sorry kiddo, that's not quite what he means when he says it's "Dieseling". Assuming the OP knows what dieseling is, it means when he shuts the ignition off the engine keeps running. Combustion without spark (like a diesel). Does it do it for long? What kind of temps are you seeing on the gauge when it's warmed up? Have you put fresh gas in it yet? More than likely the carb on that thing needs a good refreshing, if not replaced. I'd first try using some carb cleaner and see if that helps it out at all. It's a long shot, but I personally like to try the cheapest things first. 5 dollar can of gumout carb cleaner can't hurt. Lots of people just replace the stock carb with a Weber, but it's a bit pricey to do.

Awesome read! I'm glad she got you home with little mishap. Really sucks about the window, what a bummer! I went on a similar adventure after I got my 87 GL. It sat for years, then got sent to a dealership. I got my hands on it, changed the oil, put new spark plugs in it and proceeded to drive from New Jersey to Nevada for Burning man with about 1,000 lbs of gear+people in/on the car. Got me all the way out there and back with no problem. 5,000 + miles. Two days after getting back to Jersey the water pump fell apart. Nice ride and I'm interested to see what you do with it!

Every time I look at this car I'm jealous Love that interior and love the lift and tire/wheel combo you got going on. It looks great! It must be awesome driving around in that thing.
