  1. That's another thing that I had considered, more air out the back doesn't mean anything without more air coming in. Now would you say that a gutted/removed cat along with a weber 38 on the intake would be worthwhile? As those are my future plans..
  2. That's what I figured, just the inspection thing. But despite that, it accomplishes roughly the same thing I take it? Reason being, I'm cutting my cat out next week.
  3. Off topic question; sorry Is there any advantage/disadvantage to just completely cutting out the cat, as opposed to gutting it? If you're going to gut it, why bother? Just delete it. School me.
  4. Do you have those bad-boys mounted in there or did you just hook them around the shifter moulding?
  5. Thanks TheLoyale, that sounds good to me. I was mainly concerned about my rear axles because from what I've gathered, they are a bit harder to come by than front axles. My front axles need to be replaced anyway, so I imagine that will be the next thing on my todo list after ordering a set of these here lift blocks. Is the OP still offering these kits? If so I will probably be placing an order within the next week or so. I guess if I get no response here for awhile (somewhat dead thread) I'll PM him. Thanks for the info!
  6. Realistically how much do I have to worry about my axles if I install these lift blocks? Anybody with personal experience as to how long they've had the lift and how long their axles did/didn't last?
  7. You can find a cheap radiator on ebay for about 45 dollars with free shipping. Been running one of those in the Loyale for a year now. Zero problems.
  8. You're correct, there are only 2 bolts. You have to loosen (not remove) both. If you've loosened both bolts and your alternator still will not budge, it's just seized into place. Give it a good whack, it'll move. You're going to want to push it in toward the engine, it has quite a bit of adjustment so when you move it to it's fully inner position (basically up against whatever is next to it) your belt will have barely any slack in it and you will be able to work it up/under/around anything that is in the way. Good luck.
  9. That GL is gorgeous. Way to save it!! Glad it went to an enthusiast too and not somebody who just looks at it and says "Oh! Cheap convertible" then beats the hell out of it. Hope it keeps you dry!
  10. To the OP, I wish you luck. I've always seen all the nay - sayers on here regarding the 82T, and I've even seen all the for sale 82T's with blown headgaskets to boot, but I've always admired them and I want to get my hands on one so bad. I say go for it, and see what happens. 150 out of an ea82T would be pretty nice.
  11. As a general rule of thumb I try not to go anywhere in my vehicles until the temp gauge starts to move. That's not to say I haven't jumped in the Loyale after it's been sitting, started it, thrown it in drive and went on my way, but I try to keep that to minimum. I can tell it doesn't like it. My GL (carb) however, I couldn't do that if I wanted to. I wouldn't get more than 3 feet before it stalls and it would buck like a horse for the first 2.
  12. Ordered a sticker!

Excited to put it on my car!

    You da man! haha

  13. I know it's not older generation but I wanted to share my brother's 93 Impreza L. Recently had some 16's bolted on. FWD 1.8 213,000 miles and purrs. Edit*** I didn't even *know* there was an awesome NEWER generation picture thread..wow. Ha!
  14. Well, tomorrow turned in to 2 weeks later, but oh well. Life is busy! Gotten myself nice and adjusted back in to the default world. The GL is running great, however my throw-out bearing is making an AWFUL lot of noise when the clutch is engaged or even when in neutral with my foot off the clutch. That noise, paired with my rattling heat-shield, is making my car very...rattly. Going to try a quick fix of some PB blaster on the bearing through the little access port on top of the trans tomorrow. As far as the heat shield goes, that's getting ripped out along with my catalytic converter when I get a nice paycheck. Going to throw a straight-pipe in it's place and put a WRX muffler on the back. (Brother put one on his 1.8 Impreza. I love how it sounds; not too loud, not too quiet.) Aside from all that, my other purpose for updating this thread is to throw some more pictures from the trip up here, so, without further ado, The Bonneville Salt Flats: The night-time view. Bottomed out much? Interior. (Anybody got a brown interior? Want to trade? ) By the way, Colorado is a BEAUTIFUL state. Loved it out there. An *awesome* looking Riviera that was on the highway That's all for now. Will update with more once I get more pictures uploaded. The good and bad thing about digital camera; I have a good 1,500 pictures to go through. Thanks for looking!
  15. You might want to make a little note of how fast your speedo says you're going at certain RPMS if you have an auto trans: 65 mph - 3950 RPM in 3rd gear or if you have a manual trans: 85 mph - 4,000 RPM in 5th gear. Write down the RPMS for various speeds, 25, 35, 50, 60, 70 and keep it for reference, that way if your speedo cable does snap and you lose your speedometer, you still have a way to keep track of your speed.
  16. I'm up to 67,000 in my GL!!! Put 9,000 miles on it in the past month.
  17. You actually have a really good question, I mean the spfi is just a throttle body...I'm pretty sure there is no type of choke mechanism on a TBI.. I'm not exactly sure what it is that makes the engine maintain the higher revs, maybe somebody else can chime in? It even mimics a choke a little bit too because when it is up to it's highest revs (ours will get up to about 2700 RPM all on it's own) you can even "kick it down" so to speak. It will still be idling higher than usual, but just a little higher. The weird thing is how ...out of nowhere it drops if you actually just let it sit and do it's thing on it's own. It'll be steady at 25-2700 rpms and then when it decides to it'll just out of nowhere *plummet* to about 800 rpms.
  18. This happened to our loyale about 3 months after we got it. There has been a coat hanger attached to the hood release and tucked under the bumper above and into the front little valance/splash guard....thing. Works like a charm
  19. alright, when is the dyno video coming? =P
  20. hahaha, sorry. Had to. Also, floor jack and jack stands.
  21. You forgot "Purchase beer." Welcome aboard. If you're well versed in taking things of this nature apart, should be a good weekend assignment. Have fun!
