  1. I've un-earthed some videos of some of the places Ben has been (and some of the shi* that he has endured) Some videos contain cussin'. Some videos contain persons who are otherwise..not sober. A jaunt through the woods in the summer time.. http://s995.photobucket.com/albums/af77/perpetuallynumb/?action=view&current=Video-0004.mp4 Those same woods, only in late February. http://s995.photobucket.com/albums/af77/perpetuallynumb/?action=view&current=03-05-11_1501.mp4 Scenery. Same place. Late Feb. http://s995.photobucket.com/albums/af77/perpetuallynumb/?action=view&current=03-05-11_1514.mp4 Very surreal moment for a multitude of reasons. http://s995.photobucket.com/albums/af77/perpetuallynumb/?action=view&current=03-05-11_1452.mp4 http://s995.photobucket.com/albums/af77/perpetuallynumb/?action=view&current=03-05-11_1450.mp4
  2. Haha, I do know of one, but it's too far of a drive to make any sense financially to go get it. There's a glass place in central pennsylvania that put a windshield in our Loyale 2 years ago. $160 installed. Can't beat that. Most glass places local are quoting me around $250 +/- $30 :-\
  3. Just ordered 2. And -NGK plugs+wires -Beck/Arnley fuel filter -new spindle nuts for the front -Exhaust manifold gaskets -Gates timing belts -SMP disty cap and rotor Need to still -Order the 'center piece axle' or 'conical spacer/washer' from either shawn @ retro-roo or the dealer. Anybody gotten R/Roo's parts before? -Go pick up a steering knuckle to replace the ..problematic one -find a windshield -get a sticker (somehow ) Only two weeks to get the car ready before I book to the west coast. Lots of stuff to do!! Anybody along my route to Burning Man?? (80 from here to NV)?? Not only would it be cool to see some of you guys' roo's, but it would also be cool to know where some people are at just in case. Not planning on breaking down, but life doesn't follow plans sometimes =P
  4. Growing up right across the Hudson from Manhattan, and being in Manhattan very often, I've driven around the country and seen a few cities, and I started feeling like NYC had spoiled cities for me, every place I saw I was like "This is your city? It's three blocks long" . Then I went to Chicago. Chicago is a beautiful city, and the only city that has overcome NYC's shadow in my eyes (so far). Some beautiful shots you got of the sky there, that's why I love driving around opposed to flying. You get to see/experience some pretty amazing stuff out there on the road. Oh and Yeah, the Loyale is bone stock haha. I'm not sure if I'm familiar with those speed-clock devices you mention, though maybe I am; just a sign on the highway that shows your current speed? We've got those things on the toll booth's on the highway, but not on the highway itself. I've always wondered how accurate *those* things are, as well, as there's always a small discrepancy between that and my speedo as well. We all know most of the gauges in our 'roos aren't too accurate to begin with, I'm sure the speedo is no exception lol And that little aspect about the odo reading being off because of the tires, that's one of the only things that's kinda been deterring me from getting different rims/tires :-\ Also TomRhere; I'm really loving that brat of yours *and* the silver wagon. I think it looks great with those rims on it! Sorry for the long post. I return this thread to the OP
  5. That's awesome. lol, different strokes for different folks though, sorry it's something you don't want! I should talk though, my exhaust manifold gaskets are, well...gone. My car is LOUUUD as ************. Can't wait to get that fixed later this month...
  6. Going to be doing this myself here in a couple of weeks, soon as I get the parts. Will write up my experience. For anybody who came across this thread searching about the bearings GD has good information on what bearings to get and where to get them from cheap on the 1st page.
  7. Your landlord should be the one willing to pay shipping. And for the glass, for that matter. Sorry mate, hope you get a good lead on one sooner rather than later.
  8. Yeah, I had read that, but as *I* stated previously Thus; the discrepancy that I'm curious about.
  9. I wonder what's up with the discrepancy between your speed at 4k and mine. It's not much, I guess it could just be a mixture of speedo inaccuracies and other such etc things; I do, however, have a picture of my 3AT enduring 6,000 rpm at 100 mph, but you saw that I think Glad to hear about a trouble free trip, I'm hoping for the same thing for my 10,000 mile cross country expedition the end of this month. Let's go subaru reliability!! lol:burnout:
  10. From a fellow 3AT-er, what is your cruising speed generally on the highway? I usually keep it at 4k, which is about 68 mph. Tend to get 25 mpg +/- 2 Curious to see what you get with the tires you have
  11. What is that stalk to the right of the steering wheel? Windshield wipers? It almost looks like an auto trans column shifter which led to the curiosity; Anybody know of *any* subarus that had column shifters?
  12. Oooo can you get a sound clip when you got that on?
  13. I like it! It's just a subtle little difference that's hard to spot, but it looks good!
  14. Nah, as much as I would like to jump on the bandwagon and say she is a horrible driver, she's really not. She's caught a couple of tough breaks, 1st accident was swerving to avoid an animal 1 (one) week after she got her license. We all make mistakes, and that's why I'm always proud of Ben. He did his job. He was a young, first time driver's first car, and he sure does look like it. He did his job in the fashion like tincan said above, he's taken his hits, and he just keeps on going. 2nd accident (the visible damage that hasn't been repaired....and might not ever be..depending on how motivated/unmotivated I am in the near future) was another bit of a tough break; Chick in a white honda accord switched in to her lane while she (accord she) was doing about 35 mph. G/f was doing 65-70. No turn signal from the *************** in the accord, no nothing. Bam. There's all that damage. (And NONE on the accord!?!!) There's a couple of reasons why the car crumpled up like that though 1.) It's a subaru (Reaaaaaaaaaaal thin metal) 2.) From the previous accident, it was impossible to secure the driver's side of the front bumper as strongly as it was originally. The impact on the passenger side under normal circumstances would have compressed the shock absorber mounted behind the bumper on that side. Because of the fault in the mounting of the bumper on the driver's side, those mounts gave way and instead of the shock absorber compressing, the entire bumper assembly just pushed backward and did so to everything in it's path as well. Even the frame bent =( But!!! He runs fantastic and is about to hit (no pun intended) his 90,000th mile. Always, always took care of Ben maintenance wise.

    Painted the wheel-weights too?
  16. If you decide to swap the engine from your leggy and EJ your Loyale, or do any other swaps for that matter, please PM me. If you're not too far upstate, I'd definitely want to come by and help out.
  17. I wonder why your car has the older style matte black grill. All loyales I've ever seen have the newer body colored ones.....odd.
  18. You know, it's funny you mention that. It used to redline by itself going from 1st to 2nd, but it won't do that anymore. I had that happen to me on a 3rd gen accord once and it was just an adjustment I had to make to the throttle cable linkage. In essence with age it had slackened and full throttle in the car (pedal to the floor) wasn't really full throttle at the linkage. Maybe I'll get around to taking a look at that one of these days, but just food for thought. If that's the case, I could probably shave a good .1 sec off my 0-60 and do it in 14.9 seconds hahaha
  19. Yeah, RockAuto is definitely the place to go to. They have a pretty ample supply of any parts for your braking system you could need, and various makes of each part to fit various price ranges. It's not that big a deal; once you replace it (caliper, rotor, pads, etc) you're not going to have to do it again. At least for a good while.. On the other hand, if you have a legacy parts car available, I envy you.
  20. See Ben do a 2nd gear pull on the highway from 45 to redlining at 70. http://s995.photobucket.com/albums/af77/perpetuallynumb/?action=view&current=e16299c3.mp4
  21. The Flying Magpie is back on the road! Going to have to replace the driver's side hub soon though, it appears. Edit* No idea how I managed to quote myself....meant to edit. Oh well...
  22. Think you could get a shot of your track when you get the 205's mounted up on the car? I'd like to see how wide they look..
  23. You new to the GL/Loyale scene? Either way, welcome. I see you're in NY, I'm right by ya brother, across the river in Jersey. Your Loyale looks to be *exactly* the same as mine, except it sounds like yours is a 5 speed. Looks to be FWD by how long it sits. You're never going to hit anywhere near 130 horses at the wheel with that car, so get that idea out of your head lol. You have a SPFI 90 horsepower at the crank (new) Naturally Aspirated EA82 engine. It also looks like you have sagging rear springs in the back of your loyale the same way as mine. Do you bottom out when there's four or five people in the car? I get a lot of wheel-well rub, especially on the driver's side rear, when I'm loaded down. No good. lol Nice loyale! Nice low mileage too, if you take care of it, it will last a very long time. Got ours 2 years ago with 52k on it and we're up to 88k now and climbing daily. Btw, you should be able to maintain speed on anything but the steepest hills in 4th gear. You may have to put your foot to the floor, but it should do it. Only in Wyoming and over the rocky mountains have I ever had to drop down to 3rd to maintain highway speeds.
  24. That front push bar...is awesome.
  25. Now *that's* how you welcome a car in to the family . Good luck with the repairs. Does/did it have a skidplate?
