  1. In Ben, the G/f just uses the arm rest. Ben has the high-rise arm rest, so she just flips it open and keeps here coffee in there. That drives me nuts however because whenever I get in the car, I lean on the arm-rest, and usually wind up leaning on a styrofoam cup haha. In Margaret, she doesn't have the high rise, so I found those little plastic ones that hang on the door by hooking into the gap where the window is. They are pretty useful.
  2. Yeah, even without the experience GD has in this field, I'd even say steer clear for 1k. Known reliability issues, high mileage (relatively), and you could find something better than that for 1k, whether it be another GL (non turbo) or a different type of soob.
  3. Glad you were able to find a solution to your issue! That's what it's all about, anyway haha
  4. It's too easy to jump right off the bat and say no don't do it. However it's too difficult to jump right off the bat and say go for it; If you are comfortable with wiring, and have confidence in yourself and your ability, go for it. As for the things you are asking, do yourself a quick favor and go to ebay and get yourself one of the chilton's or Haynes manuals for the car. If you want, I have a FSM I could email you. PM me if you'd like. I do recommend getting the service manuals though as they're a-lot more reader friendly and they do have thorough wiring diagrams. At any rate, however, good luck with it!
  5. !! Ouch!!, wow, I feel for you my friend. That is painful to look at I can imagine how painful it was to experience. She got you home though?
  6. yeah same here, new remans on the GL and the driver's side has clicked since day 1.
  7. I noticed you had said depending on what happens haha, so that being said, let me know what kind of prices you would consider. I'd definitely definitely absolutely be interested, that is an awesome hook-up and I appreciate you even considering it. I'm totally down. And that thing about your cousin, that would make me 99 % positive on this, as the only drawback for me would have been getting the parts. Thanks again my friend!

  8. Yeah, you know, I just was trying to order everything in one shot lol. Ever notice when you try and think of *everything* you need...there's always one little thing you'll forget?
  9. Yeah, probably was just luck. Every nut I unscrewed I was a bit worried it was going to snap the plastic, but nothing broke at all. In fact, after I removed them I cleaned them and they look brand new. Might post them up on ebay, they could pass for NOS.

  11. Cool! Guess I got lucky with my covers, they all came right off. Low mileage cars probably had something to do with it. Here's to nothing happening! haha:clap:
  12. Classic! lol, don't you hate that moment when you realize what you did and you're just........DAMMIT! lol
  13. .......Can I have your GL-10 guts? lol
  14. That is an interesting fact; I never would have guessed.
  15. Thought this was a cool idea, and maybe it'll revive. Anyway, I got a quick question; What would cause an entirely stock vehicle to have an off center steering-wheel? My 87 GL has a lot of front end issues, it only has 52,000 miles and has never been modified in any way. When the wheels are straight, the steering-wheel is rotated clock-wise about 5 degrees....
  16. Here's a quick guide/write up I put together. It's not the most intuitive but if you read it through, it'll help get you through it. There's some pictures as well. If you have any questions about the procedure, PM me. http://www.ultimatesubaru.org/forum/showthread.php?t=128964
  17. Not necessarily. Not familiar with your car but if it has drums in the back, you could have a shoe dragging on the drum, regardless of whether brakes are applied or not. Could possibly have a bad caliper if its discs in the back and have a slightly rubbing/catching pad as well. Not ruling out your ideas at all, but just wanted to throw my two cents in not to completely rule out the brakes. Just a thought. Hope you get it figured out!
  18. Random question; Do 5 speed GL series vehicles have clutch switches on the starter? I can start my GL without pushing in the clutch.
  19. You haven't taken any Ambian lately have you? =P Good ol' sleep-driving!
