  2. well, both my sisters have 87 GLs' and they are carbed. my 87 GL was SPFI(now has EJ22 goodness:grin:) sooooo its safe to say 87s can be either. Dave
  3. Having ran RWD for over a year, yes it gets squierlley sometimes. Watch out on wet tarmac, it could it ugly. But one things for sure, IT'S FUN!!!
  4. Having done the swap about 2 years ago, I also ran into that. The owners' manual says the non-turbo EA82s came with the 3.7. Turns out thats a typo. Apperantly all non-turbo EA82s have the 3.9, and just the turbos had the 3.7. But then again, it could've been a option:confused: Good luck with the swap. You won't regreat it:burnout:
  5. I live down south a bit in Sierra Vista. I gotta be at work early tommarow, but I could come up on Friday late morning/early afternoon. Just let me know if that'd work. Dave
  6. I ran my '87 wagon in RWD almost 2 years with no ill affects. And I was able to do over 80mph still. OK, 100.(shhh) Also ran with LSD for the last 6 mouths before changing back to 4wd(was getting stuck too often). I did , however, smoke 2nd in that tranny. But I don't think it had to do with running in RWD.
  7. Sweeeeeeeet.....wonder how one of them would look on my '87....hmmm...
  8. I ran my '87 wagon in RWD for over a year and the only prob is the bushing on the front of the diff dosen't last. Makes for clunking on take off. But it's WAY fun on wet tarmac and dirt:headbang:
  9. OK, this afternoon when I tried to turn Suby over, I got nothing when the key is "ON". The stereo and clock are on in "ACC", but go off in "ON". The batt is at 12v, and no change when key is "OFF","ACC", "ON" or "START". I do get a buzzing sound when its "ON" under the dash someplace(I THINK its coming from the ECU). And the tach is at 1000 when key is on. Changed out alt with spare, no diffence. I'm guessing I have a short someplace, but where? I had the batt and alt checked at Auto Zone a while back, and there good. Anybody got any ideas? Cause I'm stumped. BTW, its a '87 GL SPFI. Hope all that makes sense.... Dave
  10. SWWWWWEEEEEEEETTTT! Looks like it never hit that tree:banana: YAY another Soob saved from the crusher:grin:
  11. YO that lookie sweet man! I do have a question tho.....If you stay with the stock alloys, will they still rub? Again, like RX Dave
  12. Hey Guys and Gals! I've been thinking of putting a EJ22 in my '88 wagon for some time now. I also want to convert it to rear wheel drive(driftmobile baby!). I figure a single range 4wd tranny would be best. The question is, will a SR4WD tranny put up with the power of the EJ22 in RWD? Thanks! Dave
  13. DUUUUUUUDDDDEEEE That Car is MAD!!! Now I've GOT to put a EJ engine in my wagon!!!
  14. YO Dat Rides' da BOMB!! Wanna trade it for my '87 Waqon? uh, didn't think so.....
  15. If they don't cost too much to ship, I'd like a pair!!
  16. Hey guys, what's happen'in? Got a prob with me soob. ECU was saying that the Air Control Valve was open or shorted. It was bogging real bad under load when cold. I swap the ACV with the one on my '88 parts car tonight. Bogs' gone, but now it won't rev higher then 4800!!!! Feels like its hiting a rev limiter. Once it starts warming up, it'll get to redline, but takes awhile. Any ideas??? Also, I converted it from 3AT to 5MAN about a mouth ago. Is there any rewiring I need to do(besides 4x4 indicader, reverse lights, and park/neutral swich)? Any help will be apreesheated. Thanks Dave
  17. well, I got both amps for under $100(used) and its plenty loud anuff for me;) I plan on getting the windows tinted for that reason:)
  18. YO, me and my bro went to Tuscon yesterday. On the way, my bro decided to see how fast my car would go(he was driving). He noticed that on inclines, floored in third, it would sometimes downshift to second resulting the engine to go over redline(7000-7200). Is this normal for Soob 3spd autos with over 180k on the ticker? Or does me have to do a tranny swap earlier then I thoght? Any feedback from y'all would be great! Thanks! Dave
  19. Got pics of me sound system. My car is now offically called "Tumper The Rumblewagon" soundsystem.zip
  20. YO, I was wondering if a turbo 5speed 4x4 tranny will work on my spfi? I know the axles are different, but I can use those turbo axles on my car, right? Thanks!!!
  21. well, never timed da 0-60, but had it up to 93 two Mondays' ago:grin: And thats stock spfi with a worn 3spd auto.
  22. Major whoops.....could a mod please move this thread to the older gen soobs section? Thanks!!!
