  1. Any news on this? Normally by now the police would have found it in a ditch somewhere. Nobody in their right mind would steal such an old car for parts unless it was super rare, probably some kids. Any idea how they got it? Was it unlocked or something?
  2. Solution to your problem: register the car in a different state. Move to Montana, we don't even have emissions checks here. Most everyone I know got rid of their catalytic converter long ago, lol.
  3. Not a bad idea, but was looking more for places that sell low-mileage engines or rebuilt engines. Something with a warranty, or at least some assurance that it won't be worse than the engine I already have, lol.
  4. Anyone know of a good used or reman engine supplier for EA82s? I've called a few JDM engine importers but they don't get very many engines anymore for EA82 models, and even have trouble getting EJ22s. Did find one that claims to have EA82 1.8 MPFI's but they want about $1000 shipped.
  5. There are some decent cheap HID offroad light kits on eBay that are both really effing bright and use less power. Like some people suggest, get some used light enclosures from the junkyard, garage sales or eBay, but get an ebay HID conversion kit. I got a cheapo dune buggy last year that had headlights but was missing bulbs. I took the opportunity to get a 35w HID conversion kit. Given, the original enclosures are for halogens, but since I'm only gonna need it for trails, not too worried about blinding anyone, and they're REALLY bright while actually using slightly less power. Only problem is that my stupid dune buggy runs the lights directly off the stator, so they're being fed AC current, and they flash like a strobe light! Easy fix, just need to wire them directly to the battery through the key and with a toggle switch.
  6. If you're ever in Billings, hit me up eh

  7. That sucks about your GL-10. From what I hear, those turbo motors are a royal pain. I'd love to see pics of it and your Brat though!

  8. If you're ever in Billings, come say hi, I might be able to show you some trails. :D

  9. Easy way is to round out the strut mount holes, get some big washers, and bolt it back up with more camber.
  10. Looks excellent! I'm SO gonna copy those bumper designs! Can you tell us more about your onboard air setup? Been working on something similar, just haven't actually worked on it, lol.
  11. Nice idea! Was there a trick to getting the original pin out? I've been wrestling with mine forever.
  12. Not a huge fan of blue LEDs, they kinda hurt my eyes. LOVE red lights, though. My parents' Audi A6 has red LEDs backlighting in the entire instrument cluster, dash, radio, and heater controls. Is so pleasant on those long drives at night. I do have a 500-pack of red LEDs off of eBay I was gonna use for my LED tail light conversion, maybe I'll rewire some into my dash and dome lights!
  13. Looks better with the racks in my opinion. I took mine off my car and it looked really funny, kind of plain.
  14. Gotcha. Saw your mention of the heavy duty clutch and got really excited for a second cause I thought it was for the dual range.
  15. Hey Obk, you're rockin an EJ trans and not the EA dual range trans, right?
  16. Congrats! And good point about having a basis for comparison. Such a project is very very tempting.
  17. No kidding? That's a good idea! And don't Isuzu's use the same 6-lug pattern?
  18. Indeed, and I'm pretty sure we all are wanting to migrate to discs anyway, I know I am. But considering how difficult it is to engineer and build a good locking diff that is strong AND affordable, might be easier to go the locking hub route. For one thing, I believe it could be designed so that the same hub would fit on both front and back wheels. Also, one could probably modify an existing locking hub or make an adapter for one to fit the subaru spline and wheel mounting surface. The only problem I foresee is that Subaru had to be weird and give our cars these bizarre knuckles with double bearings that support the whole assembly. I've often theorized about using the front hubs off of a Toyota pickup and then frankensteining the Toyota CV axle to the Subaru CV axle. That gives us our precious 6-lug hubs, and also adds the potential for rear wheel steering!
  19. One thing to consider is that it might be easier to just fabricate locking hubs. That way we could just weld our diffs. Also, it'd mean we could run RWD if we so desired.
  20. Burns out? I guess that's better than leaking oil. Any ideas where it's coming from? Valve stems maybe?
  21. Sadly, I haven't gotten to the point of attaching snorkel piping yet, my Sooby is still up on blocks in the driveway, waiting for me to finish lifting it a few more inches. But the plan is probably to use some good epoxies and not silicone. I have, however, relocated the EJ22 airbox up to where the spare tire mount is, so it's nice and high and far back.
