any luck on finding out the pricing for the oil pump?
-
I have a question for those of you that have the pcv reroute kit. what is the difference between the blue and the black "T" connectors? The reason I ask is I bought some hose and connectors from lowes to make my own reroute kit so i don't have to buy it from the stealership. This pdf website (http://www.directcon.net/gmc248/Subaru/pvc_mod.pdf) explains the procedure and at the 4th page states that the blue and black connectors aren't interchangeable because the blue connector has an "orifice". what is it talking about? please explain in detail. thank you

for head gaskets, people here like to recommend using fel-pro permatorque cause of not having to retorque after driving or get oem ones from the dealership.

how much is discounted?
-
if you don't swap out the pump because you plan on doing a motor swap, you could sell the new oil pump to me. my loyale needs a new one
-
if you are swapping out the engine in a few months, it isn't even worth touching the oil pump just because of the TOD. it isn't going to harm anything, just gets annoying at times

code 07 is nothing to worry about. it is the car classification code meaning you have a spfi automatic 49 state/canada model. I can't offer any real help on your code 34 egr problem. hopefully someone else can chime in. -
Hydrocarbon Emissions Failed
Skysm182 replied to Skysm182's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
I think I found the cause of my high HC. I started to pull the 3rd cylinder plug to see if it was fouled and noticed that the back area of the passenger side intake gasket had a small puddle of coolant there. I'm 90% sure this is why under acceleration it feels as if there is a slight misfire cause of coolant and/or air entering right there. can anyone chime in on this? -
Hydrocarbon Emissions Failed

air filter changed 1 year ago,(right after I bought it). oil changed about 5 to 6 months ago. have only put 2500 miles on it since I bought it. cleaned the MAF thoroughly this morning before I had the inspections done. thermostat is 1 month old straight from the dealership. -
hello all, 91 spfi ea82 wagon with 176k miles on it. went today to get my emissions and safety done. before i took it for the inspections this morning I took off the MAF and cleaned it with MAF cleaner and took off the IAC and cleaning it with throttle body cleaner. (the idle was jumpy at around 600-800 and cleaning these parts seamed to improve the idle a lot.) I also set the timing by plugging in the green connectors under the hood and used my timing gun (distributor was all the way advanced at probably more than 30 degrees btdc) it is timed now at 20 degrees. When my car warms up, it idles at around 700 rpm but the temp gauge on the dash never gets above 1/4. I have a hunch the cts is malfunctioning the ecu into thinking the car is colder than it actually is. Mpg is around 22.5 with a mix of city and highway got a code 11 and 13 (crank angle sensor) from the ecu today (no check engine light is on) passed both high speed and idle CO idle standard: 1.2, my idle reading: 0.02 high speed standard: 1.20, my high speed reading: 0.21 failed both high speed and idle HC idle standard: 220, my idle reading 306 high speed standard: 220, my high speed reading: 526 Recently new items include: gas cap(2 months old), pcv hoses(2 months old), oxygen sensor(2 months old), plugs, wires, and rotor(6-7 months old), dealership thermostat and gasket(1 month old), and old owner replaced the 2nd cat about 15 months ago. I need help from you gracious people in figuring out why my car won't pass. thank you (I would like to fix the problem rather than patching the problem with the denatured alcohol trick.)

I recently put gabriel's on all 4 corners of my 91 loyale and I really like the ride. The price on amazon was really cheap.

maybe you have the wrong belts or one is more stretched than the other. I tighten my belt by leveraging a small crow-bar against the alternator and its mounting bracket, than i tighten the bolts
-
yes they were, my 91 loyale has a manual trans with pushbutton 4wd

I think I found my problem, after getting the inner boot off I found the wire retainer ring was bent and broken in 2 pieces. Where can I get a new one? And will this fix the problem I am having? I made sure to torque down the axel nuts REEAALLYY good. by the time I had finished torquing them the socket on my electric torque gun was very hot to touch. -

to get the knuckle off, i just pounded on the back of it with a dead blow and after a while it finally came off. Im not sure what you mean by "cup". Im new to doing this indepth work on my car but am learning a lot. -

before i started maintenance, when I would be accelerating I could hear a noise that is kind of like a bad bearing. my guess is that while pounding everything in and out it finally took a turn for the worst. Is it possible that the axle shaft isn't engaged far enough into the DOJ(I don't know if this is possible on my subaru)? what is the easiest way to get the clamp rings off the boot to inspect? -
I have a 91 loyale spfi with push button 4wd. On the front of the car, I recently replaced the lower ball joints, outer tie rod ends, struts, all four wheel bearings, and brake pads. I got everything back together today and when I went to take it for a quick test drive my front wheel drive isn't working. I pushed the clutch in and put it into reverse and noticed I could take the clutch out all the way (while still in gear) and it wouldn't stall. while I did this, I looked at the driver side axel and the transmission cylinder thing was spinning around the axel.there is quite a bit of play where the axel shaft goes into the boot near the transmission. what have I done and how do I fix it? thank you for your feedback in advance. I need to get this fixed soon as this is my winter car and I don't want to drive my mustang in the snow like I have past winters.

A most excellent deckless head unit.

Wow! I have been wanting to replace the stock radio(radio only, not even a cassette) in my loyale. I think that you may have just sold me on buying this one. Thank You very much edit: went ahead and bought one right after posting this -
Where does this ground go? Pic
Skysm182 replied to Skysm182's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
does it matter where at on the tranny I connect it? -
I was changing my o2 sensor and realized that the ground that connects right underneath the spare tire wasn't connected to anything. Where does it connect?
-
maybe just get another longer bolt that sticks through and thread a nut onto it?

google would have sufficed but here goes from a yahoo answers question: a short block is a motor without heads (includes crank, cam, pistons and all bearings) a long block is a motor with the heads installed,(these motors come complete less the oil pan and intake and accessories) link: http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index?qid=20070902023349AAEbbPI here is a better link explaining it: http://www.ehow.com/about_6383527_difference-vs_-short-block-engines.html
