  1. the car was like that when I bought it last december, didn't realize it til a few months later when my tires started to wear.
  2. I def plan on getting an alignment after everything gets put back together. than 2 new tires
  3. both front tires look like that. And when they are on the car, it is noticeable that the top leans in causing it to "sit" more on the inside than the outside.
  4. A/C Delete Q: I recently deleted my a/c system(compressor, condensor, oil bottle thingy, and hoses). What Should i do with the 2 hoses that come out of the passenger side firewall? Front Upper Spring Seat/Spring Q: I am in the process of changing my front struts and strut mounts. When I removed the old strut assemblies I noticed a lot of rust on the upper spring seats and a little near the top of the coils on the springs(see pics). Where can I get new upper front spring seats/rubber spring isolators(not the rubber bumpers for the struts, i already have those)? Are these stealership only? About how much do they cost? I plan on keeping this car til it dies or kills me, so i want it done correctly the first time should I replace these seats. I am fairly sure the struts are the main cause of my 1 year old tires being bald on the inside but still good on the outside. Pics:
  5. while you are doing the timing belts/ water pump, i suggest getting a new gasket and seal for the oil pump ( make sure the oil pump is still in spec with the rotor diameter/ depth). also think about replacing the front main cam seal.
  6. just got done installing the nearly brand-new radiator i got from pick n pull over the weekend. also got the brackets to delete my a/c and uninstalled that stuff since it didn't work. It really cleaned up the engine compartment.
  7. I would say your best bet would be to find a 91' loyale (that is what I have) mine has a/c, ea82 with spfi, full instrument cluster, 4x4) the only thing you would have to worry about is swapping in a dual range tranny.
  8. I had to same whine after I changed my timing belts/idlers. not sure what it was. :-\
  9. I bought a gates timing belt kit for my 91 loyale from amazon and it was only $116. and it is free super saver shipping here is the link to the kit that fits my car. http://www.amazon.com/Gates-TCK299-Timing-Belt-Component/dp/B000C2UL5U/ref=au_pf_pfg_s?ie=UTF8&Model=Loyale|65&n=15684181&s=automotive&Make=Subaru|13&Year=1991|1991&newCar=1&carId=001
  10. just to clarify, I have 2wd with push button 4wd. right now with same size tires it sits higher in the back so when i get the new tires I will most likely move those to the front and have the slightly smaller ones in the rear to make it look more even.
  11. I only use 4wd when there is snow on the road or its really rainy out. Is there going to be any binding issues with snow or heavy rain?
  12. (1991 Loyale 4wd) The two front tires on my subie are bald cause of bad alignment so I plan on getting the alignment fixed and two new tires. I have toyo spectrum 175/80R13 tires on the back that are in great shape and found two toyo spectrum 175/70R13 tires for $50. Will the smaller size tires in the front cause any problems? thanks in advance for responses
  13. My engine would vibrate or shake until I found and fixed a vacuum leak. maybe try checking for disconnected hoses.
  14. just got done with my tune up. replaced disty cap, rotor, wire set, spark plugs, pcv valve and both accessory belts.
  15. Went to Tear a Part over the weekend and got myself all the exterior trim molding pieces and a passenger side seat belt track and motor. Installed all of those and I am so happy with the way my loyale is turning out. Today I installed speakers in the front doors so now I don't have to listen to silence when I drive.
  16. hello everyone, Recently my driver side front wheel area has been making a metal on metal contact noise (not a grinding but more of a slight squealing). the noise occurs when I am braking or when I am turning left. any thoughts on the cause would be appreciated. car is a 1991 4wd loyale wagon.
  17. I recently took off my door panels to clean the contacts on the window buttons. Now the windows don't go as slow as molasses. Re-hooked a wire in the wagon tail gate so that when I unlock/lock the doors, the tailgate does as such also.
  18. hmmm.... I am interested in going to this but can't make up my mind. :-\
  19. lol, the loyale doesn't look the same now as it does in the picture (that was the photo the previous owner had when the ad was on ksl and he didn't sell me the roof rack or the front fog lights). for updated pics see my thread in the meet and greet section http://www.ultimatesubaru.org/forum/showthread.php?t=120712
  20. Hello everyone, I am semi new to the board, I have been lurking(I do this a lot) since I bought my 1991 Loyale 4WD 5 speed manual the beginning of december last year. It has just under 175k miles and hopefully many more to come. Here are some pics I took today to show my beauty. Here is a photo of a subaru sticker I had printed at my work. I have one on each back rear quarter panel window on both sides of the car.
  21. Did that from oct of 06 til march of 07 so i could save enough money to buy my other car (mustang), I have had my fun riding a bike in the snow during the winter months. I shift between 2500 and 3000 so I usually don't bog it down. Should I look at replacing the engine temp sensor and get a new exhaust put on? All the wheel bearings are new as I had to have those replaced when I bought the car so it would pass safey and IM I live in northern utah so elevation is around 4,350 ft. I don't let my car warm up unless there is snow on it, which I warm it up briefly while I scrape it off. I have used seafoam in the fuel tank and the crank case but I can't figure out which pcv hose to use it through. Thanks for your replies. if there are any other suggestions, feel free to ask.
  22. Hi everyone, I have a 91 loyale wagon 4x4 manual spfi. Today I filled up my tank (put in 12.5 gallons to top it off), I went 228 miles from when I last filled up. That puts me at 18 mpg. what can I do to get better mpg? More Info: -My car runs great for being 20 years old. -My muffler has an exhaust leak. -I don't drive it like I stole it, I am very conservative at where I shift it. I live about a mile from my work and mostly only drive it too and from work and home. -The steering is a little bit off(slightly veers to the left when I take my hands of the wheel). -The tires(175/80R13) are about 4 months old from when the previous owner put them on before he sold it to me. He left one of the old tires on a rim in the back compartment and it looks like it has unusual wear on the outside tread. Thanks in advance to the responses.
  23. I tested the motor using a 12v car battery charger and it works great. So the motor isn't getting power. Should I use a multimeter and probe the plug harness? Should I pull the passenger seat? Could a bad rail/track sensor cause the motor to recieve no power? Where should I check next?
