  1. me and WJM tried an 88 and an 89 in his 87, and neither one would start it. and it would throw code 44 (wastegate duty), but that shouldn't have made it not start. never tried an 87 in a later car so I dunno about that. and the pin outs are different for 87 compared to 88-89. gary, this is for RX's as I haven't owned anything else EA-82t powered. I think the 87.5 was basicly an 88 and later, but I could be wrong. what kinda plug did you change? black and round or white/clear and square?
  2. it will run, but you can't drive. the dists might be the same 87+ but the connectors are different for 87, its a round plug instead of square like 88+. I don't see why the mafs shouldn't be interchageable, but I am pretty sure the ECUs have different pin outs, turbo to N/a. also I know an 87 won't work in an 88+ car, and vice versa.
  3. just do a search for WJM, that will turn up all kinda of info. oh and btw, I did a search for "oil coolers" and found TWO threads in which WJM gave the info on where to get them.
  4. I think they took that down actually. as for the swap, I wouldn't do it, unless you want to run without a hood, or use a carb, which is what mine has. Rotarys are much taller than the boxer 4; and as such the factory fuel injection will interfere with the hood. I have driven mine around in a very limited quanity, and I liked it. but there are far better engines to swap in.
  5. look in retrofitting, he "sold out" if you will.
  6. both, its the only way to go. or just the XT6 and put an RX tranny in it. port/polish the heads, open up the exuast, intake, advance the timing, get bigger cams, go race.
  7. there is this neat thing on the board, its called "search"
  8. my car was like 50.1/49.9 or something like that
  9. I think it depends upon where the car was going to be sold.
  10. so you're telling me you never found the clutchnet stuff, or that will found one that has like 80% more hold power than stock? hell I'll go out on a limb here and get you a complete kit for 275, shipped. 6 puck kevlar, sprung center, upgraded PP, new throwout bearing, clips and the polit bearing. race proven even.
  11. good work man, always does a heart good to see people doing this stuff.
  12. why the hate? WJM offered his hook up on upgraded clutches, and nobody took him up on it. you're right I was thinking the EA81 clutch disk was the same, but its not; shaft size is different.
  13. umm good work getting them to do something they already do, I didn't save the link cause they wanted like 300 bucks for the kit. and thats too much considering if you find a brake and clutch guy its sub 200 bucks for kevlar. edit: it might have been the centerforce II that they made.
  14. run a vac line from the reference port to the wastegate on the turbo. full wastegate control that way. good to hear that you're driving it now, I missed mine when it was down. good luck selling it aswell, I really want to see if you'll get that for it. BTW if you want to chat on aim anytime my name is Supersportguy550.
