  1. Yes, it's hooked up to an old amp and 10" sub. After putting in the new link everything is working as normal, except the plastic piece under the steering wheel I broke off on accident.
  2. That wire is running to my amp in the trunk. A relic from my high school days...
  3. It was the fusible link! Thanks Cougar for the tip. I was planning on checking that out before pulling the ignition apart but I didn't know what a fusible link was before this issue. It was fried. I don't know what the cause was. And the hardest part was finding a new link. OReilly had a 16ga which is close enough to 1.25mm. It works now, but I'm a little concerned about what caused it. Thanks for the help everyone!
  4. Thanks for the tips guys. I'm going to pull the steering column apart and we'll see if I can hotwire it. I'll let you know how it goes.
  5. I'm getting ready to get married and sell my 1993 Loyale. It had an issue with the ignition, especially when it was cold, where accessories would turn on, but it wouldn't start. A buzzing sound would cut out. I found a bundle of wires under the steering column that if I kind of moved around it would start. I figured it was a short in one of those wires. The accessories would always work though, even if it wouldn't start easily. Again, this usually happened when it was cold. Today, I leave it for 5 minutes after driving several miles. Coming out, I put the key in, turned it, and NOTHING. No accessories, nothing. I moved the wire around, nothing. The only things that do work are the hazard lights and the buzzing sound when the door is open and the key is in the ignition. I found that is controlled by a small bundle of 2 wires. The larger bundle that I used to bend to get it to start goes to the ignition switch, and I opened it up and everything seems fine. I wonder if it's a bad ignition switch. Could anyone shed some light on what this could possibly be? I'm getting married in a few weeks, graduate a week later, and then commission in the Air Force and move to Mississippi a few days later. So I really don't want the stress from this :/ The whole electrical system has been a bit wonky in this car since I've been driving it the last 3 years. The clock is dim and SOMETIMES comes on, and lately my car has been running really bad. This could be caused by an ignition switch that was cruddy I think.
  6. cougar, did that and it started up. Thanks for the tips everyone. This afternoon I went to a yard and grabbed a fuel pump off a 92 loyale wagon. After getting covered on grease I swapped it in and it runs beautifully. I'm really happy; its been running bad for a year and I think It's because if the pump. $16 and it runs like it should.
  7. Thanks for the feedback, I'll do as you suggest and report back next week. Any other thoughts are welcome as well.
  8. Hello, I've been having issues with my 1993 Loyale. Mostly it's been just loss of power when pushing hard on the gas and inconsistent RPMs, worse when it's cold. Recently though, it won't start. At first it will act like it starts, then just dies. It dies faster at this point if I give it gas, but rpms get really low and it dies no matter what. If I "feather" the gas it might stay alive a bit longer, but it will eventually succumb. After that, no amount of cranking will start it. If I let it sit for a while (overnight usually) it might start, but probably not. I suspect the fuel pump / fuel system. The fuel filter isn't clogged, and while I had it off I had my dad hold the hose (from the pump) out while I cranked it to see if it would spurt out fuel. It didn't. My next plan of action is to check that the fuel pump is getting power, and to maybe bang on it with a rubber mallet and see if that can get it to start. But does anyone else have some feedback that might help me get this girl running before school starts? I have a motorcycle that I use but I need this running before winter hits. And I am ready to look for used fuel pumps (even F150 pumps) in a wrecking yard or get one for $165 off Amazon, but I want to be fairly certain it's the fuel pump. Any feedback? Thanks!
  9. I'm sorry to resurrect a 2 year old thread! But I need some clarification. The mounting port is 36mm threaded? I can't find any threaded engine block heaters for my 1994 Subaru Loyale, just this that supposedly fits: Kats 11405, however that is the rubber gasket style. Thanks for any feedback, I need to get this guy warm before my daily 5:00 am drives. Also, I found this PDF that shows where to mount the heater. Is this correct?
