Ea82 to Ej22 Swap Questions
ontherun987 replied to ontherun987's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
Sorry about the vagueness, I ended up buying a 1991 legacy. My dad needs the trans so I think I will have most of the swap right off. Is SJR still making the adapter plate for the trans? -
Ea82 to Ej22 Swap Questions
ontherun987 replied to ontherun987's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
I was wondering more if there is a specific ej22 or range of years. I have the write up done by Numbchux, is there any other reference or other guides that are needed? -
Yep but I think the damage was done already(he's not sure how long it was leaking). I did fix the leak, It didn't shift right after I refilled it.So I loaded it on to a trailer took the car to my local guru. They took off the trans pan and said "it looked like a hand grenade went off in there, it's toast". So I parked it like a year ago and here we are. I also needish the ej22 from the donor for my car

I am looking to do the EJ22 swap, I have a couple of questions. What am I looking for in a donor car? Are the parts still available to do so? Thanks

How would I know if they are OEM, and if they are worn out? I am looking to replace them because I was in a Toyota Sequoia that did this at a low speed. A real sh*t your pants moment I have had my Subaru for 10 years, mostly parked, (camping and snow car) but I haven't done much to it.

My 1987 Subaru gl has bad front wheel bearings and my ball joints boots are torn up. I looking to replace them but rock auto only has a few brands. I don't have any experience with these brands. MEVOTECH CONI-SEAL API MCQUAY-NORRIS I am thinking about using these BECK/ARNLEY 0513859 for the front wheel bearings And for brakes DYNAMIC FRICTION 651213042 I really appreciate all the help with this, I know that finding good part is getting harder

Does this look bent? This is what the other side looks like. It looks like the bushing is a little crunched up.

What brand of timing belts should I buy, are these ok? Can I just replace the belt or do I need to do the whole set? https://www.ebay.com/itm/For-85-94-1-8L-SUBARU-1800-GL-Loyale-RX-XT-NON-TUR-TURBO-TIMING-BELT-KIT-EA82T/400176384460?fits=Model%3AGL|Make%3ASubaru&epid=20003000648&hash=item5d2c5f09cc:g:fs0AAOSwEppUNE~z -

Nope, but I have seen milesfox's videos on it -
I just finished my weber install. it ran great for 4 minutes , then quit suddenly. I couldn't get it to start again, I thought the choke open and killed it. After playing with it for awhile checking fuel and spark, I noticed this. Awesome more fun coming right up

ontherun987 replied to ontherun987's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
I am unsure, I did them a while back and I haven't driven the car for a long while. It was stopping just fine the day before. -

Do I just cut it out and force it into the new hose? -
I have to go almost to the floor. My brake booster vacuum line has a couple of good cracks in it. Is this the cause of almost no stopping power?
-
So the shift mount on my 87 GL broke and I would like some input on my fix I Found this online, I don't have a welder so bolt on is great I scarped the old rubber and sent both side through the drill press. This is how it fits. I plan on painting it at some point but is seems to be working What do you guys think?

I just got back from junk yard with a good looking carb for my ea82, my old hitiachi carb has a 3 prong connector and the new one has a 4 prong connector. The extra wire goes here (see picture of old carb). The old one has one wire going to this part the new one has two. How do I hook this up?
