  1. Hi, Does anyone have any tips on a product or homemade solution that would remove antifreeze film from an interior windshield? My son's hatch heater core sprang a leak and fogged it up pretty well and left a nasty residue behind. Anyone had any experience with this? Windex is basically useless and an ammonia/water solution didn't seem to make any difference. Thanks
  2. Hi, Try these folks too, they usually have lots of Subaru parts. Aldergrove Auto Wrecking Address : 27820 Swensson Avenue, Abbotsford, BC V4X 1H4 604-857-1818 or put out an apb to http://www.car-part.com/ You should find something here.
  3. Thanks for the replies, still narrowing it down - no moonroof or AC on this one though - cleaned all drain holes that I could find - happens only when it rains - could be a seam as it has slowed to a trickle when I run the hose over the windshield - will silicone the bottom plastic strip - previous owner said he rebuilt the wiper so it may not have been put back together properly. thanks again
  4. I rescued an 85 XT4 from the crusher and of course it comes with 'issues' - the main one at this point, in this climate, is that it has a major water leak into the interior of the car. It seems to come in on the front passenger side but also shows up on the driver side too. I pulled the carpet to dry and clean. Anyone ever experienced this with their car or have any ideas - blocked drain hole or ? The windshield seal seems tight. Thanks.
  5. Here, but spendy. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/85-86-87-89-SUBARU-BRAT-XT-Alloy-Wheel-Center-Cap_W0QQcmdZViewItemQQcategoryZ43961QQihZ003QQitemZ130127902128QQrdZ1
  6. "Oh, and the hill holder cable's disconnected, but I left the spring off. Could this be the problem?" Yes, it is a contributing factor - replace the spring - I had this problem with an '86 hb that kept locking up in awkward places (I-5 freeway for one, driving it home from Portland) and finally traced the problem to the missing spring.
  7. Yes, it is a true tale. I picked some up for Ed (Rachner) from Saltair Recycling on Vancouver Island. Check with him on pricing - they weren't cheap IIRC.

  13. It's all about choices in an open market. If immediate need is an issue then both links are closer to home than Colorado. Shawn has an impeccable reputation as a builder so if quality is the determining factor then go with Shawn. It sounded like the poster wasn't sure he would hang on to it.

  19. "..... I'm not 100% on this (someone correct me if I'm wrong), but I don't beleive EA81 hatchbacks came in automatic.... at least not in 86." GD There were some in Canada - badged as a 'Chaser' - just saw an '88 for sale - unfortunately they were extremely prone to rust around the wheel wells and rockers - just about every one of them gets eaten alive up here.
