EA82 timing belt slop video's
Aye, I run the engine real quick after installing the belts, then re-tension them and make sure they are still where they are supposed to be. Those belts are really loose, surpised they didn't jump some teeth....just another reminder to check things here and there.

Old School Meet! Wyoming/Colorado guys and gals! Sept. 23rd, 2006
Ok all those dates I listed previously are on weekends...Jeff was the only one to actually vote on a date, so hopefully that means most everyone is open for pretty much any weekend. I am thinking Saturday September 23rd around noonish since that gives everyone several weeks to make sure they can come. Would do the 16th for you Jeff but our expansion at work might get delayed a week which would push me into working the 16th (won't know until next week). So looks like this: When: Saturday September 23rd, 12pm'ish Where: My house, unless we actually get a ton of people that want to come Address: 15892 W. 1st Drive, Golden, 80401 Directions: From 6th Ave, take it to Indiana, go south on Indiana till you come to the 6th Ave frontage road (first light just south of 6th). Take a right (west) on the 6th Ave frontage road. Follow the frontage road past the fairgrounds and stay on it as it turns south and begins to go up a big hill past a bunch of businesses. Keep going on the frontage road (keep an eye out for my future Brat on the right about halfway up the hill, unless I have it in my driveway by then) and as you approach the top of the hill you are going to hit a dead end and can only take a left. So go ahead and take a left and that is 1st Drive. I'm about halfway down the block on the right, can't miss my driveway with the RX, Lifted Sedan, wife's legacy, etc. Really the only one on my block that has a huge driveway on the side of my house. I know it sounds kinda hard, but believe me it's super easy to get here, I just suck at giving directions. Several of you have been here, and don't think anyone has ever had a problem finding it. Also will need volunteers to bring some of the following: Chairs (I have like one outside chair left after all the windstorms this summer) Maybe a folding table or two? (think I have at least one in my basement storage) Food of all kinds, will have the Barb up and going and will provide some meat & fake meat (wife is a veggie) Let's try and get a basic head count, and some volunteers for food, etc... Any problems, let's hear em soon and see if we can't adjust around them. Sound good guys & gals? Edit: Also trying to get us written permission to go play on some land/streets across from Bandimere...will see if my friend comes through or not. (keep those fingers crossed)

It Passed
Woot! No more emissions, gotta love that. Here's Tom's pics (though he didn't bother to include a full pic of his Brat, I've actually met Tom but still have yet to see his Brat) We want a full exterior pic Tom! I believe in the Denver area once it's 25 years old you have to pass a very lenient emissions once, then never again (correct if I'm wrong guys, since I keep all my cars registered in Park County where there is no emissions)

What to offer..80 Brat
Thanks for the offers guys, still may take you up on that Tom...Just haven't even seen the owner yet to talk to him. Somehow all my *extra* money disappeared too, so waiting till I get a bit more saved and I'll go flash some cash at him. The more I look at this Brat the more it needs to be in my driveway... Edit: Haha money didn't disappear, wife just stuffed it away into the savings so we would have it for that Brat and not just blow it...man I have a good woman. (And she knows me, cause I would blow it..good thing she handles all the money I just make it)

Old School Meet! Wyoming/Colorado guys and gals! Sept. 23rd, 2006
Ok let's set a date and at least have a Barb-a-que... What Saturdays (or Sunday afternoon's) work for everyone? I should be fairly open after the next 2 weekends. Put your vote in: 16th, 17th, 23rd, 24th, or 30th Place: TBD (most likely just my house, or a park) If we do it in the next couple weeks Jerry still might have that big smile on his face that he left my house with tonight..he has been shown what an RX can do and he enjoyed it, didn't ya Jerry

Old School Meet! Wyoming/Colorado guys and gals! Sept. 23rd, 2006
Yea seems we ARE the worst bunch on this board as far as getting together, setting dates, etc. My offer is a standing offer for any Saturday (could do a Sunday afternoon also) that I'm not working and the wife is cool with, which should be most weekends. I do have to work a few hours on the 9th in the morning as we expand into some new space, so not sure that will work. My house isn't an exciting place or anything but hey does it really matter with a bunch of subes sitting outside?

Miles Fox crashed my GL
Ummm..ouch that sucks, pretty good amount of damage there too. Looks like the Monte got away pretty good for that much damage on the Roo, guess that's a good thing in this case though.

Free to good home: pickup only
Funny I posted yesterday in your Overhauling thread about how amazing your car was.. Yea he was getting pounded by people when I showed up..Some lady with a 120k 88 Hatch showed up, and sounded interested in selling it (she now has my number ) oh yea and those Pugs came home with me, spares for me and Jerry. Wish I would've had more time to stick around, but had to meet the wife for shopping. If you need help getting the rack back on I'll swing by anytime I can to help out.

"Overhaulin" the Beefaru
Ok I'm bumping this up after actually going and meeting the Beefaru in person today. The paint on this car is INCREDIBLE...kept grinning bigger and bigger as he was backing it out of the driveway and all the light was hitting it. Truly a masterpiece of workmanship. (if you guys get lucky Beef will post up another pic or two, got one with my POS Lifted sedan by it, should make his car look even better) No picture is going to do the paint job justice though, have to see it in person and in the daylight. It will change colors! And I gotta tell ya I was shocked at his car, wasn't paying attention enough and didn't realize I was going to look at an EJ22 powered wagon with an RX trans that has been geared to 4.11 gears! And I got to drive it Absolutely amazing car.....thanks for letting me swing by and check it out, and was great to meet ya. Still wiping drool off my face...

Free to good home: pickup only
Wow didn't realize you were so close, I may swing over and check out the Beefaru. Not really interested in anything except maybe one of those pugs for a spare...me and Jerry might have to box it out . Got a pref on which one my cars you may want to see Beef? The lifted sedan or my RX? Neither of which are nearly as nice as the Beef, nevertheless all us Subaru guys love seeing other Roo's. Don't believe we have ever actually met before..which is quite sad since your so close. Hell probably have seen eachother several times since I work in Belmar, though I think we would've noticed eachothers cars and I don't recall seeing a wagon on Pugs anywhere. And sure can't miss my lifted sedan, but maybe the RX (which is my daily driver) blends in traffic more. Some more coffee, breakfast and I may swing by if it's okay with the wife.

What to offer..80 Brat
I'll have to go look again, but am pretty damn sure they took the back window out then cut straight down from the edge of the window, which would leave a good area to weld a different piece in...though I am no body guy so who knows. Won't go back down and talk to him till I have the cash in my hands...we all know cash talks. So is that the tops you would go Jerry? Since you've actually seen the car a tad your opinon helps alot. This is of course not really spare cash (there is no such thing in a one income family with 2 kids) but I'm thinking I need to try to get it or just completely put it out of mind which is going to real hard since I see it everyday.

What to offer..80 Brat
Ok there has been this 80 Brat sitting in this guys driveway down the street from me for who knows how long (at least several years). He had it for sale once for $800 and I had talked to him about it, but didn't have the cash at the time. Well I have *some* spare cash now and am sick of looking at this poor Brat sitting on jack stands everyday on my to and from work. I haven't talked to him recently but am thinking of running down to his place with some cash in hand and see if I can't take it away. Here is a really shotty pic I took with my cell phone way back when....: It is almost completely rust free, very minor surface rust in a couple places, no dents that I saw, interior is torn apart no carpet etc...but still has the seats in it. Has a topper that's been on it since it was new. Couple sets of wheels, one set of beautiful white spokes that look brand new. He said it ran, just not good and might have brake problems (which is why I think it's on Jack Stands now with the front wheels off. Now the bad part which is kinda scaring me off from it....someone chopped the back window and below the back window to open the cab into the bed. They did a good job but not sure if that's something I want to deal with. Bed area has been converted to kinda of a sleeping area. Jerry DeMoss has seen this car a few times and can testify to it's shape which I think I described pretty well. So what do you guys think $500? Is that too low/high? Should I just forget about it because of the chopping? Not sure exactly what I would do with it but has been killing me for over a year since we moved into this house. Any suggestions, etc would be much appreciated...

Old School Meet! Wyoming/Colorado guys and gals! Sept. 23rd, 2006
Depending on the amount of people if we just want to hang out and do a Barb-Q I will offer up my house for it. Have a huge driveway, so plenty of parking and decent backyard to hang out in. Those who have been to my place know it. If it gets to big we could always migrate down to the fairgrounds if nothing is going on when we have it. Things should be slowing down at work for me so any Saturday shouldn't be a problem. on a side note if we don't do it Labor Day weekend I may run the lifted rig up to slaughter house and Bailey area for some playtime if anyone wants to join

'81 Wagon Vandalized...possibly for sale
Diamond- Few questions is there chrome around your windshield that needs replaced? That would up the price a tad, but they were giving my Brother a rough estimate of about $140. Mike- does it look like your molding needs replacing..again ups the price. Again they were saying about $140ish so looks like my Bro only gets about 5-10 percent off. Maybe someone else has a better hook-up, since I can get 10 percent off through my work even..Jerry?

'81 Wagon Vandalized...possibly for sale
Still better than the $289 I paid for the windshield for the RX Yea will call my brother back and have him get a quote on yours too, he uses Elite also though....
-
'81 Wagon Vandalized...possibly for sale
PM coming your way, already called my Brother to have him get a quote on the windshield. He will call me back later.

'81 Wagon Vandalized...possibly for sale
I can get some pretty decent deals through my Brother's shop, if I remember correctly Jerry can also get some deals through his work. Correct me if I'm wrong Jerry. Quarter windows shouldn't be too hard and could most likely do those yourself with JY replacements. But yeah plenty of board members in this area that should be able to help you out.

colorado meet at red rocks awdpirates
I'm working that whole weekend it turns out, but am seriously going to try and take an hour or two break and run over there. I hate missing the meets on Sunday's! So if there is going to be 2 other RX's there guess I should bring mine too then we can look like the lines and lines of WRX's.

A/C expert DIY advice
Well I can only give you my insight from re-doing the A/C on my RX last summer with a new compressor, etc...except I kept my system on R12 since my Brother still has a ton of it. Anyhoo I had the same problem on my RX and it turned out to be just a tad overfilled. We pulled some R12 out of the system and it started working perfectly, Brother said something about the high pressure sensor turning it off. So maybe start with that sensor or level of refrigerant....

"Overhaulin" the Beefaru
Wow it's looking fantastic! When your done Beef I'll have to come meet up with you so I can scope it out, gotta be one of the nicest looking wagons I've seen.

Threaded Rod for BRAT battery hold-down
Got a junkyard near ya? Should be able to grab one off almost any car that uses those and make it work easily. Also a good bungee cord is always a good way to temporay (or permanently) hold your battery down

help colorado members
Ouch man, will keep an eye out for ya. Is that black one still at Colorado Auto Parts, anyone know? Been worried about that on the RX ever since I took the latch support out to fit my oil cooler better. Off to order some hood pins for myself now!

Engine temps and fans.
My IC is off an MR2, and originally came with a fan attached to it (which died). If I remember correctly I just did some bending the fan bolt down tabs on the IC and bolted the EA81 fan right to it. And yes it's on a relay attached to a switch, I only run the IC fan when boosting hard (well as hard as stock boost goes) or too help cool the engine bay a bit while driving in stop and go traffic, also dubs as a hot air blower out the bottom of the engine bay. Still gotta hook-up my IC sprayer but running out of room in my engine bay.

Engine temps and fans.
There are off of pretty much any EA81 (maybe they had to have A/C) but these are the ones they ran instead of a crank fan, very very skinny like 1.5" at max. Mounts pretty much right to the EA82 Radiators but is small enough to clear the waterpump pulley. I left the EA82 A/C fan hooked to it's thermoswitch, EA81's are both hooked to relays/switches, I run EA81 one on my radiator almost all the time, the EA82 kicks on with A/C or when it hits a certain temp like normal. They work awesome, make sure your A/C condensor is in good shape too if you haven't removed it. I'm sure you will prob build your RX up well over mine (since I built mine for reliability/daily driving), so might want to look into some newer better slim line fans that can pull some serious CFM's. I also have mine oil cooled which helps a ton also, but that is in front of A/C condensor blocking even more air from getting to the radiator. On these recent 100+ degree days I can get the RX up to almost 3/4 on the highway while boosting then the A/C fan will kick in and bring back down to under 1/2. Normal running on mine is 1/3rd to a 1/2 up the gauge unless it's super hot out. Not great pics but maybe they will help: The slightly larger EA81 fan I run on my intercooler: Better shot of the clearance between water pump and electric EA81 Fan:
