My hatch pics and DrKrazy's sedan!
DrKrazy replied to Jerry DeMoss's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
Those pics weren't included BUT...Slightly, just a big hill and some field to play in, looky in the background and you'll see that Primo hatch plowing some 2' grass down... -
My hatch pics and DrKrazy's sedan!
DrKrazy replied to Jerry DeMoss's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
This is a primo hatch guys...unlike anything I have ever seen. Jerry's been hiding it from us forever now...this thing was so well taken care of there's nothing but OE Subaru everything on it...even the alternator belt!?! I got to drive it and was super impressed, hell no one has even hacked at the dash to put in an aftermarket stereo. Truly a good find Jerry, glad you finally brought it out so we could all see it. (Put some close-ups of the decal in the off-road forum for Mick to see, was trying to keep my cars out of your pictures, except the ones you wanted) Though I have to say this was the good one, a Primo hatch with a lifted Sedan outlining it: -
Had Mick do me up a decal for the back of the lifted sedan and all I can say is AWESOME! Mick you are the man, and it fit's the car perfectly! Yes I know it's a play off the Jeep one, but I did that on purpose...and no questions about the Primo hatch playing in the background, I will let the owner show it off later once I get his pictures up. Pics to show off Mick's incredible work! Wouldn't be right if I didn't take it off-road real quick for a picture too: Thanks Again Mick! Thanks to Jerry also for picking it up for me Now I should never get asked: What is that thing? And is it 4wd? (forgot to get a USMB sticker for it though, will have to get one from ya Mick)

Pikes Peak Hill Climb Anyone???
DrKrazy replied to Gravityman's topic in Meet n' Greet. Your USMB Welcome Center
I used to go down and watch it, or at least catch it on TV. My brother and I having been tossing around the idea of building a Subaru to compete with there. Alas my attention moved from that to the XRRA (http://www.xrra.com/) that my buddy races in now, so I catch those when I can. -
fuel door latch doesn't work ?
DrKrazy replied to idosubaru's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
Well was a long time ago on my 85 T-Sedan, but if I remember correctly I unbolted the latch and it came out with about 3 feet of cable. So that answered my question on that one. The one on my lifted sedan works (sometimes) just not all the time so I think I just need to lube the latch and possibly the handle. Again not much help.. Does your latch move in and out freely? Have you had someone else push on the handle to see if it actually tries to move? -

DrKrazy replied to idosubaru's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
I've had two cars where they didn't work quite right or at all. One of them I still have. First one was a broken cable, 2nd one is on my lifted sedan...and the little pin thing that holds it shut doesn't like to move sometimes. Still need to get out there and lube it (though I have gotten good at getting it open with my key if needed, kinda acting like a flat blade). Not sure if any of that is actually helpful though. -
swapping spfi onto carbed ea82
DrKrazy replied to guido32's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
If your talking about the great conversion manual that Snowman wrote you can get it here (I promise not to move it for anyone in the future that might need it): EA82 EFI Conversion Manual -
Ah a little duct tape, jb weld and it will be fine All I have to say is talk about some bent rods. Warranty isn't going to cover that! Ouch...

DrKrazy replied to mcbrat's topic in Meet n' Greet. Your USMB Welcome Center
Yea not going to make it to meet ya Mick, got some unexpected family coming over tonight that are flying in from Chicago today. Jerry will get that sticker for me from you (Thanks Jerry!). I'll just have to make sure the next time I fly out to our Des Moines office that I catch up with you. Will give me a chance to see those Brats in person. -
Yea for free fixes! Gotta love the Roo's for that, half my fixes are an easy fix like that or a quick part out of my stash.

My baby boy Tyler was born this morning so hard to say if I'll make it or not. Jerry I may need you to do me a favor and bring Mick some cash from me for the stickers if you can. I'll know by later this weekend if I'll be able to make it or not, really up to the wife at this point. Would be a shame to miss it but with a newborn not sure the wife is going to let me out of the house. -
Going to 2nd that, my RX did the close to same thing to me...cleaned the contacts on the temp sensor and 0 problems since.

Hmm well if it's just going to be a few of us, I would be willing to have you guys over for some beer/brats (bratwersts) or something if you would rather do that...need to pick up a grill but was going to do that this weekend anyways. Not as scenic as Red Rocks, but you get to drive by a poor Brat that really needs to be rescued to my driveway. Jerry knows which one I'm talking about. I'm down for anything, really up to you Mick. -

On the top of the back window...I think, that's where I was going to put Project Cheap, but it's not so cheap anymore...and more like Project POS . So the Subaru thing sounds much better now. If I recall correctly from our previous talks about "Project Cheap" the back window is like 38-40" wide and could easily be up to 4-5" Tall without blocking my view at all. I trust you to make the final call, and whatever is easiest for you. -

The SUBARU 16 x 4 in white just like the picture would be perfect...can you add the 4WD in the same size after it? Also any chance of getting one to go under it that says: It's a SUBARU thing... You wouldn't understand smaller of course. That would be awesome! Just let me know what kinda of cash I need to bring. Got a time in mind? Who else is coming? I should hopefully be off work by 4:30~5ish but I only live 10 mins away from Red Rocks so no big deal at all. Want to see the lifted sedan or RX Mick? If I come straight from work I'll be in the RX most likely. Only thing that would hold me back is if my wife goes into labor or something before hand. She could pop anyday now. Jerry if your going to make I can bring the cash for that spyder also. -

Whatcha coming into town for? Sounds like a plan, would love to meet up with you Mc. Maybe you can bring me out a big SUBARU sticker for the lifted sedan so people stop asking me what it is.... -
Where's the pic of the hatch climbing the waterfall Zap? I always thought that was a good representation of a good rig/good driver showing off Subaru's ability off-road. I know several non-subaru rigs out here that couldn't do it. Had it as a desktop picture at one point can't find it now.
-
Gotta agree with Zap here, those guys up in WA/OR really have shown the rest us how to build our rigs. We don't have the mud like that out here in CO but I modeled my rig after much reading and seeing their pics/etc. If you want to hardcore rock-crawl out here, going to need clearance and the power to back it up. Most of all you have to be willing the beat the snot out of your Roo You should browse through the whole off-road forum and you'll find plently of rigs, mods, etc that should help you make up your mind.

86 Hatch: How much is it worth?
DrKrazy replied to mikeshoup's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
I saw that one on CL, depending on condition of the body, it could easily be worth the $500. Of course you want to get as cheap as possible. Oh and defintely an EA81, no EA82's had 4-speeds. Jerry went through months of looking at hatches, so he is one that should chime in here. I swear he looked at least 10 different ones. -
I'm probably the no Sunday guy your thinking of Phil, I always work Sundays. I can't say for sure when I can be in yet. 3rd is highly doubtful for me, 10th possibly a no too. My boy is due in the next 2 and half weeks. Plus the Project POS is in a few pieces, but nothing I couldn't put back together or just leave alone and drive it down in 2-lo. So I may be in for late june, july. If you guys go sooner and I can't make it I expect lots of pics, and some video if possible. I'm still a newb in Soob wheelin, still try to drive it like my truck off-road...doesn't work that way, so still working it out on my end. Car seems to be very capable I just need to learn it's tricks. Totally different than straight axles, but that's why I built it + bonus of gas mileage. I still want to go rock slaughter house with some soobs too, even stock ones could make it through most of it with good driving. Has all the fun side obstacles for the rigs and changes with the weather that is another meet though.

Jeff - I have no idea what they would run in price, I got them for free and never pay full price on my tires anyways. Benefits of having a Brother who runs a shop. Maybe 75 knows? Tizzle - The Bra was bought, but for an x-soob I had, which just got parted out recently and send to the crusher. So the hood protector got donated to the RX since we use gravel on our roads out here in the winter, trying to keep the chipping down. Soobscript - Think they are 5.5 inch alloys, maybe just 5 inch. Just the stock 13" Subaru Rally Wheels. Mike - Find them they are not that rare, I did get mine from edrach along time ago shipped in. But I prefer to support board members if they have the parts I want. Thanks for the compliments on the car guys, but it's just really photogenic...not nearly as nice looking once you get up close. Jerry knows he has seen it.
-
Looks pretty clean, would be a nice score for sure. Go for it if you can.
-
Well inspired by all the people who have done it in the past, I had my Brother's shop order me in a set of Nankang XR611 Touring Sport 205/60/13 tires to get some more grip and more tread on the highway at 75mph. Took a month to get them in, hard size to get. Really nice tires, handles like a totally different car (much much better)..and best of all they were free since his shop owed me for some major business I kicked their way Pics of course: Nice and wide, just what I wanted and not a hint of rubbing anywhere.

MEET: CO: May 21th at Red Rocks Park
DrKrazy replied to The Korean's topic in Meet n' Greet. Your USMB Welcome Center
Yea sorry guys was stuck at work and couldn't get out. Will make it up to you guys soon (Well maybe not so soon, kid due in less than 3 weeks now!). I'll at least throw a Barb-Q or something for the old schoolers. Tom I'm in if I have the day off and have the lifted sedan back together (currently in a few pieces, making a twin-shift for 2wd-lo, and fightin some electrical gremlins draining one of my batteries). Gotta say I'm curious where this place is, or is it the one you were telling me about before? By the way your hatch looks better everytime I see it! Too bad this time it wasn't in person. -
Whoa chill Zap...you'll notice the after that statement which meant I was just joking around. Wasn't trying to poke at you or anyone else. I can't make fun of any jeep or toy, there is chevy parked in driveway that's my real off-road rig. Just costs too much in gas to drive anymore.
