ARGH!!!!! bad oilpump + running EA82T = .....
DrKrazy replied to Caboobaroo's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
Damn, did your engine start ticking like crazy before it happened? does it turn over by hand? What do you need, I may be able to help you. I have a few engines sitting around, just waiting for projects. But thinking EJ for the lifted rig, and a special built higher compression EA82T for the RX when I blow the JDM, so my spare engines might not ever get used. -
MEET: CO: May 21th at Red Rocks Park
DrKrazy replied to The Korean's topic in Meet n' Greet. Your USMB Welcome Center
Trying to work it out to at least make it to the meet, and then head back to work like last time. Again I have the problem of what car to bring, seems like the lifted rigs were a big crowd pleaser last time....but then maybe it's time to show those all those WRX's their roots and bring the RX to park with Cab's (Don't worry cab mine is 3 colors too, white with grey molding and of course Rust! ) . -
Cab is right the bull bar is from an EA81 series car, I just made a few extensions and some other minor fabbing to get it to work. No welding though, but it's on there good. Thanks guys, appreciate the comments...wasn't sure if it was just me who actually thought it made it look better. I'll try to make it to the meet but I do work Sunday's and my baby boy is due fairly close to that time so who knows!
-
Haha yes I do actually, would need to be off an 85/86 though. I had that piece but it fell off twice...last time it fell off someplace while I was driving....didn't even know it. So it's long gone now.

Well started with me straightening some bashed metal that came from getting a large rock stuck between the front tire and unibody/fender, and then on to stopping some surface rust that was starting in certain places where I cut the car up (and neglected to primer it). Well needless to say it ended up getting out of hand as things usually do with me and I ended with a new paint job on the car. Washed the whole car down, did some sanding/rust removal, couple cans of flat black, and a couple coats of clear over it..and I now have a two-tone sedan. What do you guys think did I go too far?? Hoping it will hide the future dents a bit better....

My brother has a set of 205/60/13 tires on order to replace the POS's on my RX, and I do believe this is what he ordered for me (will have to wait and see, but did say it was a cooper tire). Crossing my fingers since they look like what I want on my RX. So good to hear you've liked them Jerry, and you seriously got 60k out of them? . I'm just looking for some more tread on the road while doing 75+ on the highway, and hopefully get some more grip in the corners sick of the squealing.

DrKrazy replied to TheSubaruJunkie's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
I think I paid $53 for the filter and the adapter(package deal), so maybe around $45 for the filter -

PIC Request: 1987 RX Coupe
DrKrazy replied to The Korean's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
Blue is screwed now, saw the addiction in his eyes as he left after going for a ride in my kinda stock RX You'll be dreaming of them now Blue, until you get one that is... Just keep thinking 10 speeds of Subaru power! -
Well not really a tribute since he did his much much nicer for the EA81. I plan on doing the same thing as soon as I get my hands on another cluster I can take apart for awhile and get it right. I like to drive the lifted Roo once or twice a week so I just did a quick like fix for now but based off what 88HatchMonster came up with. So cheers to his inovation. Did my calculations for certain speeds, ran some white numbers in a black background through a laser printer several times. Started with this: Good old friend Mr. Sharpie to fill in old numbers: Plotted the places for the new numbers, and added holes for backlight: Placed new numbers without trimming much, so looks like hell but works: And reinstalled, backlight does work just badly..but I don't care for now: Project Cheap is now much happier (well at least it's owner is): Thanks for the idea 88! Now I can drive in front of cop without being super worried about how fast I'm going.

att. all Colorado subaru fans!!!
DrKrazy replied to subaruloverbrad's topic in Meet n' Greet. Your USMB Welcome Center
Exactly, well it didn't really fail just never really existed (though we are all still Rocky Mountain Roo's :-) )...but yea there is too many boards etc that everyone hangs out on..last thing anyone needs is another one which is why I took it down. I could bring it back but we would all just hang out here...more people to chat with. I agree with Mike about awdpirates, been there hung out, just not my kinda atmosphere, USMB is like home and can't be beat in my mind. And again Eyesore is exactly right underpaid, undertrained emissions people in this state. The emissions guys in Colorado kill cars....that is why I keep my cars registered in Park County=no emissions. There is a rumor though that emissions in Co will be abolished in the next few years -

I don't know Jerry looks bigger than mine, more lift or smaller tires...Looks great though, time for some more off-road accessories, but I swear that thing is sitting much higher than Project Cheap. I love lifted EA82 Sedans since we are so rare....still haven't heard of another one in the states! -

Just for a fact I have been pulled over in "Project Cheap" for a "safety inspection". I truly think it was just so the cop could check it out, he was a real nice guy for a Golden cop and barely looked at anything mechanical. Then after the chat he took a picture with his cell phone before he let me go . I do believe we also have a headlight or bumper height law, but as others say it's never enforced. Been there, tried that, still have the RockyMountainRoo's sign in my office too...ran our own website and everything. Hell I still have an incarnation of the original RockyMountainRoos.net board (minus any posts, users, etc) that I use for testing etc for other websites I build. It's at http://subaru.kacsh.com Jerry and I were really the only people that used rockymountainroos.net when I had it up, had a few more people but not many. -

What a night..Project Cheap *Almost* gets stolen
DrKrazy replied to DrKrazy's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
No honestly it never crossed my mind, I was just so incredibly mad I was in rage mode. Just doing everything I could not to beat the living **** out of him. Plus amazing as it is the cops were here in like 2 mins flat. -

DrKrazy replied to DrKrazy's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
Yea *She* (Roo) got a ton of love and treats, she hardly ever barks and is really a push over. Not even a year old yet and loves attention more than protecting. Just ask Jerry he knows, so ya we knew something was up when she went crazy. Yea of course the RX was sitting right in front of it, but a big blue blinking light that is bright enough to see from the street probably detered him away from the RX. Which has had an alarm system for along time. -
Thank god for my Roo Dog, she woke us at 2 am this morning barking like crazy, look out the window to see what's going on...what do I see??? Project Cheap slowly rolling down my driveway, with a kid sitting in the driver's seat. Was stupid since it was a 17-year old kid from up the street I recongized right away. Have the wife call the cops while I run out with bat to make sure he doesn't get away. Came out my front door so I would be behind him, grabbed him through the window and yanked him out to the ground (no I did not open the door first, I was pissed). Luckily Project cheap backed into my brick wall and stopped since I was more worried about keeping him pinned to the ground. Long story short, beware of your neighbors kid's and keep your cars close to your house. How did he get in you ask?....just so happens he used a Subaru key to unlock the doors, luckily it didn't work in the ignition (though was very stuck in it) and this family doesn't even own a Subaru, let alone an old one. Guess I need to add an alarm to the car now. Who steals a lifted Subaru? Your not getting away fast at all....putting a hidden kill switch today until I can get an alarm on it. The kid well hopefully he will be spending some time in juvie for this. I can tell you his parents were not happy at all, and spent 2 hours apologizing to me after the fact. Watch your Roo's...I would have never expected this to happen in my neighborhood.

Feel your pain Gary :-\ , make sure you let us know the results of your flow test. This is one of the more interesting problems I've seen in awhile. I've never seen an EA82 water pump with a plastic impellar, if I ever did I would hand it right back. Plastic impellar in a pump that circulates super hot water and is bolted to an engine block...sounds scary.

Running on 3 Cylinders at idle
DrKrazy replied to mikeshoup's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
Bah wth is going on?!?...all you guys (Jeff, Mike) keep your bad mojo away from me. Finally have mine all running fine. I can help you out Mike, but it's so much easier to just yank the whole motor and do anything that needs to be done at the same time. Is that a hi-compression motor in that one, I can't seem to recall? I also have a few spare motors laying around, though none which would really help you. I do have a Gen1 turbo block and heads that is good except for a broken intake bolt in one of the heads, and a possibility of a very tiny blown headgasket (though I found out it had blown intake gasket when I replaced the engine with a JDM, so might not be a head gasket at all). Let me know what I can do for ya, can at least offer up my driveway if needed. Bribe Jerry and maybe a few other guys we can get it done no prob. -
I think there is only the two different length ones, so I think your right on that. If you take the radiator hose off from the water pump and spin it does water come out the pipe? Also have you taken off the hoses going to the heater core and checked flow there? Seen a few clogged heater cores....defintely sounds strange.

All I have to say is whatever you do to it Scott I'm sure it will be totally rockin! Haven't seen anything from you I didn't drool over. I agree with ditching the fenders too..though without glass you will defintely be wearing that mud
