So let's chat a bit more about Operose coming out next week, since it looks like we are kinda stuck to nights shall we meet-up one night someplace and grab some dinner or something? (If you want to see Project Cheap hopefully someplace I don't have to hit a highway to get too) Or do we show the New Yorker part of our mountains...shouldn't come to the front range with out at least seeing Red Rocks, Lookout Mountain (much funner to drive in the RX), or something that's not to far up the hills since we all have to work.

MEET: CO: May 21th at Red Rocks Park
DrKrazy replied to The Korean's topic in Meet n' Greet. Your USMB Welcome Center
Yes it is, what kinda of position are you looking for? If you have any experience etc...I may be able to get you in the door depending on what you want to do. Let's take that to PM's though so we don't hi-jack this thread. -
It provides Vacuum to the Heating/Air controls inside your car. Actually runs right up to the buttons which in turn controls the flaps for air/heat/defrost/bi-level/etc. Hope that helps a bit, kinda hard to describe...basically an air switch system that uses vacuum to keep certain flaps in the ducting closed/open depending on the button you pushed to flow air where you want it.

Great Day for a Family Picture!
DrKrazy replied to DrKrazy's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
Yea well, it's our first house...and I'm a computer nerd (Network Administrator) so I tend to take pictures/video of almost everything we have done to this house. We are trying to re-design our backyard. Kill off all the mrytle spurge that is plauging us and planting some lilac bushes to fill up some space. Been here almost a year and have well over 2gb of pictures on my laptop from just the house...scary since most of it was just repairs -
After work, doing the whole Easter thing today, and before the wife took off to the Mountains for her family. I was doing some planting in the backyard and taking pictures of that, and while headed back inside I noticed my Roo's were all lined up just asking for a picture to be taken. So here's my Roo Family and a nice sunny Colorado day.... 88' RX Coupe, 86' Lifted GL Sedan, 94' Legacy Wagon (all of which are very photogenic, can't even see they are all covered in rain dirt/crap) Got pics of your Roo family?

Ok if I followed this thread correctly then that hose that's not hooked to anything should be hooked to another hose that goes to your intake to provide vacuum to your Heating/Air controls. I've attached a picture that might help you (just have to ignore the fact there is a battery there, this is off my lifted rig that runs two batteries, just pay attention to the hose that my red line follows): Edit: GD beat me to it....

Pretty sure those are for your 4wd, well at least I think so. Think they control the Diff-Lock on my RX so pretty sure it would be for your 4wd. Therefore guessing that yes it would be your boost leak. Does your 4wd work?

atten member help threw a rod
DrKrazy replied to jeffast's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
Oh crap, that sucks Jeff. Could help you out if it was a 4cyl...have a few of those sitting around. Will keep my eye out for a 6. Last time I was at Colorado auto parts there was 2 sixes there but that was along time ago. Anyone been there recently? -
part of black near the back wheel's ...why?
DrKrazy replied to moshem74's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
Hmm I could've sworn Subaru put those there to hide the rust they knew would develop there after ten years.... -
June isn't going to be a good month for meets for me, my baby boy is due June 13th . Operose your more than welcome to swing by/meet-up, sounds like your headed towards Broomfield...there is quite a few members up in that area, and is not far from anywhere along the front range out here. Maybe we should have a mini-meet just for Operose???

I second that, 10 foward gears of fury! -
Changing timing belts on the side of the road with parts from your trunk Zero Dollars... Breaking an axle and putting it in 4wd to get home Zero Dollars.... Replacing that axle with one of the many from your stash Zero Dollars.... Showing a Jeep what a Subaru can do Off-Road Priceless. (actually have that one printed & hanging above a picture of my lifted Roo at work)

Yea we need to get together and show them what us Rocky Mountain Subaru's can do! (or not do ) Two words for you FUEL INJECTION....time for a swap. Don't need to but I did since I can't get a carb to run good out here. Maybe you or Jerry can though. I'm totally down for some Roo wheeling will bring both the digi camera and the digi camcorder so we can prove our efforts ! have a ton of crap to get rid of also...not sure anyone needs any of it though. I'm also sure I will be the first rig to break when we do get together...just my luck, which is why I will bring the cameras....... And Jerry has to get this Hatch out in public for us to see (and I didn't get that pic Jerry)

Code 21???? with PICS!!!
DrKrazy replied to NuclearBacon's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
Take off your "Turbo" intake plenum then look down inbetween the throttle body and the turbo. There will be a sensor going into the block right below one of the coolant lines to the turbo. With a connector that looks just like the AAV. Chances are you just need to clean up the contacts and put it back on. Just did this on my RX last weekend. And so you know 1=AAV 2=Temp Gauge sensor 3=Hard to tell but guessing by where the circle is, it's your knock sensor Edit:Hmm after reading Tex's post maybe I'm wrong....but that's not where my CTS is at. -

Hmm that's sounds like a good plan, I'm ready to take Project Cheap out and break it some more (as long as it gets me home, always has so far). Just gotta get it someplace to do it, it hates the highways...any places in mind? One of these days us lifted guys need to go hit up my old play ground in Slaughter House (near Bailey) or Red Cone Pass, maybe a camping trip sometime plus have lots of family in that area in case of any break downs. -
Man I love those hatches, and your's is great looking . Bet it wheels like mad too, wish I would've found one for cheap before I lifted the EA82 sedan :-\

need place to get 2row radiator for my turbo
DrKrazy replied to 86subaru's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
I get mine through http://www.performanceradiator.com/, but I do it through my Brother's shop (to get better prices) and they are local. Have one in each of my EA82's (and a few in the past) never had a problem with them. -
I have no mechanical fans left on any of my EA82's. I run the stock electric fan + an EA81 electric fan (actually two EA81's, have one on my intercooler also they are small and thin) on the RX. On the lifted Sedan I run the stock electric fan + a 10" flex-a-lite on the outside of the drivers's side. I personally hate the clutch fans, but if you want to put yours back on I think I have a few good clutches sitting in my piles of parts, and I'm probably not that far away depending on where in Denver you are.

Yea I know about the GM swap etc, have done it on my lifted Roo. But I have tried 3 different styles of GM alts on the RX and there just isn't room for one (outboard A/C compressor). I have an XT6 alt currently (I think, since it puts out about 82 amps at 4k, might actually be a JDM since I don't remember which one I put on it during the engine swap) though it doesn't look to ever have been modified so maybe I'm wrong. Anyways I am now thinking about taking one of spare my EA82 alts to a shop and see if I can get boosted to around 100amps to drive my stereo, my 3 electric fans, A/C, fog lights, etc... So anyone done this before and have a general idea what it might cost? Or maybe another Alt that might fit?
-
I'm going to bump this up, since this is something that Project Cheap needs bad. I would just drive it around in 2wd-lo the majority of the time. Would really help to turn those 235's a bit better for getting to the trails. I'm going to look at it closer on my next day off, but I'm no fabricator (redneck rigger is more like it) so hoping I'll see some pics/write-up from someone who has done it.

MEET: CO: May 21th at Red Rocks Park
DrKrazy replied to The Korean's topic in Meet n' Greet. Your USMB Welcome Center
Yea wish my job was like everyone else's..but I can't take a Sunday off EVER really . Still don't have anyone who is trained (after 3 years so far) to do everything I do to the 26 Servers and Network each Sunday to keep my work going. Best thing I can do is like last time and just show up for a few and then go back to work :-\. Will do my best but doubt I'll make it, though the wife says she might take my daughter and drive the RX (since I finally put a new windshield in it, wouldn't drive it before) or the lifted Sedan up there. She doesn't want to blend in her Legacy if she goes without me. ------ Whoever is organizing the Coors Tour should contact me, I may be able to pull some strings and get you guys the VIP tour . I work for the company that does all of Coors marketing/Design. Even have a Coors badge myself since I have network equipment down there for our people who actually work down at Coors. -

Doh! Sunday now huh? I won't be making it as I work on Sunday's :-\ Have fun guys and gals -
I've had my mildy modified RX around 112ish once, then I backed down as I was getting fairly high up in the RPM's. Give me a 6th speed and I could get it to 150+ no problem. The mostly stock RX's are not really meant for high top speeds, just to get up to it really quick

$100 86 4WD=Rough; 80-84 coupe spotted; sickness?
DrKrazy replied to unclestu's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
According to my wife it's an addiction, and there is no professional help to get for it so just buy more cars and parts. Then sell them and buy more again. I have to drive by a pretty much perfectly straight 80/81 Brat that's been sitting for years everyday since it's right down the block from me. It KILLS me to see it there, though I might have enough extra cash to go talk the guy out of it soon. Jerry knows the Brat I'm talking about, and someone has to save and put this one back one the road.
