MEET: CO: May 21th at Red Rocks Park
DrKrazy replied to The Korean's topic in Meet n' Greet. Your USMB Welcome Center
Won't say I'll be there for sure since my Son is due within about 10 days after that...so you never know when that's going to happen. If we are cruising the highways I will be bringing the RX this time, the lifted Roo prefers to stay off the highways. As far as off-roading, we are going to have to create a smaller meet just for us off-road guys. I can tell you if I was one of those guys with a WRX I would NOT be taking it off-roading. Hell with the snow we are expecting today I was even thinking about playing hookey tomorrow and taking the lifted roo out for some fun -
Hmmm MUD! Wish we got that kinda mud out here! Looks like it was a blast.

Project Cheap:Build Lifted 86' GL Sedan Advice + Build
DrKrazy replied to DrKrazy's topic in Members Rides
It's last years (maybe the year before) of these tires http://www.starfiretires.com/us/en/ProductDetails.asp?ProdType=LtTruck&id=216&title=Light+Truck+Tires They still look the exact same, just called Durango's now. Basically it's a Cooper Tire, just under a different name...still cheapies, but they get the job done on my rig. Only way your getting them as cheap as I did is to have a Brother that runs a shop like I do , I wouldn't recommend them if you are going to pay real money for tires. I just grabbed these since my Brother had them sitting on his floor for another customer that never picked em up. As far as my Roof Rack goes, I'm not finished with it still going to turn it into an actual basket rack. Chances are I won't cut it down anymore, but we will see when I get a chance to finish it. -
I think my cam timing is off on one side
DrKrazy replied to Caboobaroo's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
Hmm I think the timing on the EA82T's is actually 20 degrees BTDC, think I actually have mine set at about 24~25ish. Try bumping the timing up to at least 20. -
Goodbye old friend, last road trip for the 88 DL
DrKrazy replied to DrKrazy's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
This car was not in as good as shape as the pictures look I guess, plus drivers side was the smashed up side. Nothing really left on the car except rolling body/trans/glass/misc junk. And it was a 2wd Auto (worthless piece of junk) , with no paint left on the whole upper portion of the car. Believe me I have a shed and several boxes full of parts from it. Not to mention all the parts that went on the Lifted sedan from it. I just hate seeing any of my cars go...though it does make room for more and the wife is happy not to look at it anymore. Plus now I can say all the Subaru's I own (3 of them) all run and drive now -
Aye same here, Cheapo but it works.

The Subaru that got back me into Subarus after I left so many years ago said goodbye today and got hauled off to the JY. I bought this car a couple years ago, fixed it up and drove it for awhile until I bought the RX. Sold it to my Brother in law, who in turn sold it to my sister in law, and then ended back with me for parts for the lifted Sedan. Today after I finished stripping the remaining parts I wanted and it got hauled off...So in fond memories of the car here is alittle picture memorial: The Day I bought it: After I fixed it up: Sold it, it got beat up, returned to me and now looks like this (with me yanking it out of my driveway with the lifted Roo): Loading on the trailer and saying my good-bye's: And the final trip for the DL, even if it's on a trailer: Goodbye little DL you were good to me, and my family. You already are living on in my other Roo's but I will never forget you. May you have a quick ride to Subaru Heaven

Project Cheap:Build Lifted 86' GL Sedan Advice + Build
DrKrazy replied to DrKrazy's topic in Members Rides
Been awhile, and I haven't been around much. Been busy with expecting our Son (Woot won't be in a house full of women anymore) who is due in June and redoing a few rooms in the house to get ready for that. Also been working a lot which has left me no time for my Roo's . Anyways I have made a small amount of progress and broken things in the last few months. A few weeks back during the -10 to 10 degrees for a week straight snap we had here in CO the O.E. Alt went out on PC. Well I've had the 100amp GM Alt sitting around just waiting for me to put it in, which of course I did in the 10 degree weather. I had to do some major trimming on the alt, and move the adjusting bracket over to the water pipe bolt to make room for it. This however did allow me to keep the original belt. I made my own wiring harness adapter so I can just throw on a stock alt back on at anytime still. Then rewired all the power lines with heavier gauge wires, and moved the stock harness straight to one of the batteries. This alt kicks major a**! Once I grab some red tops to replace the batteries will be ready for my new bumpers with winch recievers. Also cut the roof rack down to size. Here is some Pics of the GM alt install: Mess of an engine bay: Better pic of just the alt mounting: GM to Subaru wiring adapter: Roof rack cut down to a much better size, took 4" off each side: Things broken in last few months: Alt died Blew a front CV axle, smashed up the middle of my exhaust a tad, and put some slices in my a few of tires...all from playing in what I thought was a big snow pile....turned out to be a big flipping ice chunk pile. Didn't get stuck but it hurt. All fun in the end -
Subaru must have been nuts!!!
DrKrazy replied to pheonix165's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
Haha that's exactly how I would describe driving my lifted 86 Sedan, it NEVER gets shifted before 4500 and that's when I'm being nice to it. Gotta drive it like that just to move with 235/75/R15 M/T's. The RX on the other hand, well...never really gets shifted before 4200-4500..have hit redline a few times, but never held it there. Still have to remind my wife to drive the older Roo's like that, not like her legacy that has power much lower in the RPM's. -
Does my 1990 Loyale have a VSS?
DrKrazy replied to mbrickell's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
Indeed 85sub4WD is right it has one. Heck even most (all?) of the Carb'd EA82 cars have them (just don't use them). When I did my EFI swap on the lifted 86 Sedan, it had one...and haven't heard of anyone else doing the EFI swap that didn't have one. Think it was just standard built into the cluster on EA82's -
Let's see your USMB People Group photos
DrKrazy replied to ezapar's topic in Meet n' Greet. Your USMB Welcome Center
Here is a few shots from the Colorado meet in Jan, 2006. The group photo is most of us "Old School" Colorado/Wyoming USMB folks...taken by Tom. Can't find any group photos from the prior meets (don't think we actually took any in the last few years) -
Yea that's pretty strange, I can say from personal experience that it usually takes about 2-3+ seconds of light from a spotlight to turn off street lamps (used to deliver pizzas years ago and got my kicks out of turning off street lamps with my spotlight..yea I know..weirdo). So I doubt it's the reflection off your sunroof... I would just take it as the lights are showing their love for your Brat

89 RX dual range question
DrKrazy replied to idosubaru's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
Yep I believe your right Mc...doh always thinking of the cars in my driveway.. (Luckily he was asking about an 89' RX which I didn't even notice until now) -
89 RX dual range question
DrKrazy replied to idosubaru's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
The ones in the RX's are FullTime. The "normal" dual-range is fwd, 4-hi, & 4 low. -
Wow, yea thank god you all were okay. Been in two Roll-overs in my life (none when I was driving) and they were both the scariest things I've been through...after seeing those pics though, my lifted Roo is getting a cage/good seats & belts before I do anything else major.

Ah ha! You must be the one I see every once in awhile, think I saw you just the other day on 6th..I was in my RX and gave you a head nod that I don't think you saw as I was turning off on Indiana. Think I was even following you a week or two ago in my lifted sedan, but couldn't keep up. I like to see the other Golden guys on here. -

Finally a huge meet, sounds good. Turns out I have a long day at work on Sunday, but think I'm just going to come in early 3-4am, so I can still get out of work on time for the meet (crossing fingers). Did we decide we are bringing the Lifted Roo's or our older fast Roo's to represent the old school? Since it sounds like we are going to be out-numbered by the newer gen cars. Anyone need any parts off my 88 DL sedan, or out of my stash? Have a pretty near perfect 4 head light conversion already pulled off of it, lots of other stuff in my stash too. Jerry knows he's seen my shed...
