Hmm just now saw this... Got an oil pump to do on the wife's newer engine (long story...) on Sat, possible I may have it done in time. So I may actually make it..Sunday would work better for me though. All my cars have been re-registered so not sure what I would come in. Who's bringing what? And what are you in need of Mike?

Senior member huh? Not sure what to make of that.... You can always do what I did with my other set of strut lifts...and that is take them to a good buddy with good fabrication experience and have him cut and re-weld them back into a more correct position. If I remember correctly he took all the measurements and ended up cutting them at a slight angle and then re-welded the bottom piece back on in a different position. Can't remember any specifics but that was a long time ago when I lifted mine...

Pretty cherry looking 79' Brat in this video... (notice his shifter boots though, definitely a Subaru type guy) Funny how it's about people dropping their new cars for the old ones for better gas mileage. Something we all already knew, the old Subarus get great gas mileage (better than my new one even!) http://www.cnn.com/video/#/video/us/2008/05/06/dnt.co.retro.gas.cars.kmgh?iref=videosearch Edit: Whoops just noticed someone beat me to it in the off-topic, mods feel free to delete.

EA82T Fan Modifications....?
DrKrazy replied to EvilDead's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
Hmm well I have one of the "slightly modified" EA82T powered RX's in CO that I know of...cooling is so extremely important on the EA82T's. I keep mine cooled with: 1. INTERCOOLER, can't say enough get one! 2. Hood scoop for said intercooler (if top mount) 3. Brand new everything in the cooling system, including an all metal 2 core radiator 4. Replace mechanical fan with EA81 slimline or aftermarket electric fan. 5. Big a** oil cooler....helps a ton, remember the turbo is heating your oil too 6. Add another fan underneath the intercooler if possible to limit heatsoak 7. Still not enough? Build yourself an intercooler and radiator water sprayer! 8> I haven't had the need yet.... Oh yea running an OEM Subaru thermostat...period. Yes my RX is running all of the above, will jaunt up the I70 corridor at 85mph on the turbo with the A/C on without ever going over halfway. Want it cooler...I just hit the sprayer button a few times and it will go down to 1/3rd and stay for awhile. Hope that helps some (And yes I'm crazy about my cooling systems) Pic: Look close enough and you can see the sprayer lines on the radiator and the one running to my hood scoop (it sprays down on the intercooler with hood shut). -
Are you down town Denver? Or someplace on the outskirts..and if so where? There is a ton of good Subaru mechanics all over the place and I can name several of them off the top of my head even though I do all my own work. S-Wings is one of my favorites to recommend, those guys know Subarus. Of course CCR, but don't think they really do "maintenance" services, but if you need an engine best place you'll find! If your on the west-side of town at all my Brother runs an independent shop in Lakewood, spent 10+ years in Bailey (10k feet in the mountains) working on pretty much all Subarus. I send people to him all the time with Subaru's and never heard one complaint. I also have a rather large driveway (no garage yet) and pretty much most tools one could need that any USMB member is welcome to come use. May just have to move around a few of my 5 Subaru's....LOL! I also have an "Shop Account" at the Golden Subaru dealership so I get parts at shop rates if needed. Oh and by the way welcome to CO

Well I've been meaning to getting around to replacing the clutch and resealing some things on the wife's 94 Legacy Wagon. I'm off for a few days of vacation time and took advantage of the beautiful 70 degree day in March (rare here in CO) and finally got to work. Things that got done: Rear Main Seal Oil Separator Plate Reseal Oil Pan Valve cover gaskets/grommets Freshly machined flywheel with new pilot bearing New tough Exedy clutch kit (complete with Subaru clips for throw-out) Full coolant flush and drain (duh had to pull the engine anyways) Change all fluids (Tranny, Rear Diff, Brake, Coolant, Oil) New exhaust manifold gaskets New thermostat & gasket (previous owner did something crazy see pics below) A cool new fresh engine paint job (went a little nuts compared to what I originally was going to do, but looks good ) A pretty full day, job time roughly 8-10 hours (including going to the machine shop, breaks, & slacking) all with hand tools...and one electric impact, oh and my engine hoist. Didn't start taking pics till I was about halfway through putting the engine back together, that's when my wife asked me how many times I've done this.... counted it out and between all my Subaru's and friends' Subaru's this was number 25 for pulling a Subaru engine! So special occasion today Lots O' Pics here: Doing the wife's clutch/engine reseal But here's just a few from my lovely day: OK Previous owner was insane, I've known this from other things I've had to fix but I pulled the thermostat to replace it (Water Pump, Timing had all been done less than 20k ago..5 years ago when we bought it, then I had to redo the timing belt because of that previous owner). So notice anything crazy wrong with the thermostat on the right? Yes let's cut holes in it...that will fix it! And a random few through the day and finished product..a nice blue tone and wife loves it even though I'm the only one who ever sees the engine.. Oh Pretty... So here's to my 25th Subaru engine pull :drunk:

Another red rocks meet

Hmmm I really need to get off my rump roast and go get the lifted sedan and my RX re-registered (both expired at the end of last year). But that means I have to drive to Bailey...though I do need to go check out a Hatch twin for Jerry that's up there. Hell if I'm going to show up in my 2000 OBW you guys wouldn't ever find me :-\ . I don't think any of you guys except Eric have even seen my new one. So I need get the other ones legal quick like... -
I haven't been around much but the rig is still in fine condition. Hopefully will have more time this summer..:-\ Though I am planning an EJ swap for it this spring/summer if I can manage. I know webster pass, red cone, & slaughter house fairly well as I lived in Bailey for several years.

Yea was annoying, but as you put it over there..."I'll play" So posted some pics.

Ahh yes was a moment in history! 200k on mean conversion that happened 12 years ago. I doubt anyone else has a 200k on an EJ conversion, don't think too many people were even doing it in 96'.... Was a pleasure to come along for the ride and was a beautiful day for it. Though I spent the rest of yesterday working on my cars..which wasn't nearly as fun. Video actually turned out good, and I have a couple pics to add since it was such a special occasion. The salesmen drooling over Eric's wagon as he points at it (notice how it's just as shiny as the new Subaru's around in the background, minus my dirty rump roast OBW sitting to the left): And because Red Rocks is so gorgeous and beefaru fits in perfectly with the scenery: Good job on keeping Beefaru running so good for so long, here's to another 200k for you Eric

Essentially yes it does, fairly easy job just gets greasy taking the old stuff apart with blown boots. Hardest part is getting the outer off, and that's not that hard normally Funny you brought it up as I just picked up a load of parts for my various Subaru's from my favorite dealership, and just so happens I need to do them on my wife's 94 legacy so I have a nice picture of a shiny new one that you can clearly see the inner and outer threads on. New boot in the pic too, along with several other Subaru parts. Yes lots of work on a few different cars ahead of me. Remember to go get an alignment right after you finish the work.

CO peeps! Feb 23 BBQ!
DrKrazy replied to kingbobdole's topic in Meet n' Greet. Your USMB Welcome Center
I thought when we talked on Tuesday you were going to hold on to the hood while I took it up to 100mph for the 200k mark? Eric and I shall have this documented tomorrow as I have the day off (first one besides holidays in almost a year!) Will try and get it on video for the rolling.. I look at it as actually somewhat historic, gotta be one of the first EJ22 (with lots of other specials) converted EA82 Wagon's to roll 200k since it's conversion. Gotta hand it off to Eric for taking such good care of it. Off for Valentine's night..Eric call me in the morning Woot! -

Whoa, wait did you get who I think you got on the phone? Interesting....I would like to turn my spare RX tranny into 4.44 if possible, with the real low range, and I wan't to keep the center locking diff....that would be exactly what the rig needs! Eric I'm close and we can run up the highway at 100mph on that Digidash of yours for the magical 200k mark! Of course timing is everything and I'm busy tonight...maybe tomorrow after I get off work. Ring me if you haven't hit 200k by tomorrow night. -
Mine is similar to most people's rack setup. A couple of cheap crossbars, with an XT spare tire rack mounted between them to hold my spare tire. 60 watt yellows up top, 100 watt white's on the bumper. My experience with alts is killing a couple original 60 amp ones. Swapped to a 100 amp GM alt, ended up killing that also, needed to get a smaller pulley on it as it was worse than then stock for me at idle. Then I swapped to a dual battery setup and haven't had an issue.

uhhhh wow no tunes no start!!!!!

2nd that, mis-wired..then check your fusible links in the black box near the battery. -
Don't think it's what your looking for it's been a parts car for awhile. Not much but the body left. Would take a tremendous amount of work to put it back on the road, unless all your looking for is a body.

There is most of an RX Coupe sitting on the side of my house.....and I'm not that far. I actually work here in Lafayette, but live in Golden.

Hmm bad luck winter I guess for some of us... RX and Lifted Sedan are both out of registration atm but run and drive fine, (haven't had time to run to Bailey to get them re-registered).... Wife's legacy needs a front end rebuild (ball joints, tie rods, etc) and clutch like now... My new 00' OBW has taken a hit in the rear quarter panel (partially fixed already) and is now barely leaking externally on the passenger side head gasket So I have a busy month ahead of me, but will try and make it in something! Just don't know what yet, prob the new OBW as it's not a huge deal and a quick coolant change and Subaru "conditioner" may fix the problem for now. Or I'll get the RX and Sedan registered..then Jerry you and I can take the RX for the jaunt up the canyon (as long as there is no snow). -
EA82 Sedan lifted pictures( would like to see some what ya got?)
DrKrazy replied to Scott in Bellingham's topic in Off Road
You ask and you shall receive Scott. I need lift some parts from you so any pics you want just ask! Have tons more from the build, and it's sitting in my driveway (covered in snow atm) if you need anything specific. From right after I got it lifted, think I was still running the crappy carb too (looks like hell compared to what it looks like now): Or another more direct on side shot (minus the fact it's climbing a hill): Also a ton of pics in the original build thread from a few years ago: http://www.ultimatesubaru.org/forum/showthread.php?t=42459 -
EA82 Sedan lifted pictures( would like to see some what ya got?)
DrKrazy replied to Scott in Bellingham's topic in Off Road
Wow been awhile since I've seen my Sedan mentioned. When I started to build mine the only other sedan's that were lifted that I knew about were from our brother's down in AUS. I know there's a few more now in the US... Here's a before and after build pics of my sedan (of course the build never stops, in fact it's going to be getting an EJ over the next summer I hope). 86' D/R Sedan, Converted to SPFI, Twin Sticks, LSD, Rear Discs, Dual Batteries, running 2 sets of 29" Tires (one set M/T's, one set nasty Snow's) (Numbchux, I don't remember taking that pic, never seen my driveway so empty before Glad you posted it as I haven't been hanging around as much) Day I bought it for $100: After I finished most of it: Lifted Sedan's Rock! -
Looking hot Russ! Gotta take my RX for a tint job as that is the shiznit.. ?? Where is those obsidian black painted ground effects at ??
-
Yea 15" Alloy's on the 96' so hoping they will fit, looks close. Even my subaru parts guy said maybe but the 00' has bigger brakes on the front than the 96' had him look it up since I just put new brakes/rotors on the 96' also and the 00' needs them...so far nothing is the same. I just gotta get off my rump roast and see if the wheels will fit but been a hellish few days here. This car commutes like a champ and I'm already in love with it! Oh and +1 for tinted windows too.. Here's some actual daylight photo's for all you pic people..no I didn't wash it today either so still dirty.. And yes there is way too many Subaru's in my driveway now!
