Wow the few I've seen ,including mine have it. I just assumed (yea I know) that cruise just made sense as part of the RX package. I have a diagram and list of the parts for it in one my lame manuals someplace here. Will see if I can find it and scan it for you.

It doesn't have it?? I didn't know that the RX coupes came without it..learn something new everday..

91 loyale died on highway, no warning
DrKrazy replied to mountainbikeak's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
No problem, it's called passing it on..nothing these guys haven't done for me a hundred times. Bolts on the cover should be 10mm (be careful with them, the plastic covers like to go SNAP!) and it shouldn't be too bad, might need to take the electric fan off to make it easier though. Only another 4 bolts that are either 10 or 12mm. Just depends on how cramped it is and how skinny your arms are. -

You can pop your distributor cap off and watch to see if your rotor turns while you crank your car. That will at least tell you if your driver's side timing belt is still on/not broken. You'll have to take off a cover to check the passenger side. -

How did you check for spark though? And I take it the engine did still crank over? (might be pass side timing belt that broke, seem to recall my 86 GL-10 running still ran after it broke that one, just off 2 cylinders) -
Is it going through coolant like it has a bad HG? Or do you know for sure it has one? Kinda wondering if your turbo isn't just totally wasted and your burning coolant and oil through it. But yea I agree weird problem.

Whoohoo! My newest!! It's home, It's MINE!!
DrKrazy replied to ezapar's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
Nice and a decent price too! -
Well there is 2 oil lines attached to the turbo, 1 that's an actual metal tube that runs from the block to the top of the turbo (from your pictures it doesn't look like that's leaking, unless it's doing it at the block). The other one is the oil return line which runs from the bottom of the turbo back to the block and is just a small piece of a rubber hose. I'm taking a wild guess that the rubber hose is cracked, and or leaking thus spraying all over. But hard to say really. The stuff that's actually in your exhuast, well that could be a totally different story..just coolant that's turning black because of the exhuast? Or the seals inside the turbo are blown causing oil/coolant to mix? Not sure just random shots in the dark.

Ok was thinking along those same lines. From what I have been reading etc I was thinking the recirc valve was the way to go also, just needed to hear it from you guys who are actually running the IC's or have experience/knowledge with turbos. Will pick up a recirc valve for the install too and plumb it in somehow. Thanks guys

Ok guys, gathering the last pieces to get my MR2 Intercooler installed on the RX this weekend. Got it all mocked up last weekend to see what I would need. Minus the hood scoop and finding a local alum welder to do some mods to my extra intake plenum (cut off end and weld on tube) I'm basically ready. BUT my question is since I have decided to just keep it at around stock boost (under 9psi at all times) do I need to put in a recirc valve to keep it from freaking out or will my stock system take care of me? Just adding the IC to help the engine last longer, not looking for super power gains or anything. Still learning all this.

Wow! Nice job man! D/R Tranny..np tons of them around here in the JY's. Stereo? NP again got a few extras sitting around here too.. Problem is letting the secret out that you have the equipment and know how to do that stuff right here in state..release the hounds! Just kidding..but seriously nice work and keep it going.

wrecked my wagon this weekend
DrKrazy replied to torxxx's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
Ouch man, doesn't sound good. At least it sounds like you are mostly ok which is always most important. -
Wow that's a clean RX, nice!
-
Was silently watching this thread for the info, but now I will say something...ouch!

Yea my RX actually had one that looked pretty similar to that, and just like Moosens said held on with velcro strips. Looked pretty good (except seemed to be attracting the previous owners hair, I don't have much not a problem here), fit well, and probably was good at protecting it but when I saw it was covering a perfect dash I ripped it and the velcro strips right off , couldn't help myself.

Congratz and welcome to the board, Dr. RX already pointed you to a good place for parts for brakes etc..Some of the downpipes/header are made by Techworks, if you do a search on the board for it you'll come up with more info (I don't have much of it). Be sure to check out the ever growing USRM repair & mod link at the top of the board for some more good information. Lastly welcome to the land of RX owners (think most of us live here)

my trunk wont stay shut, help!!!
DrKrazy replied to subyrally's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
My 88 DL always had that problem, luckily my solution was easy...just push the trunk release lever inside the cabin down a bit and it would close all the way. Just a bit picky about that lever inside..chances are your problem won't be that easy though. -
Well I just went through a whole bunch of vacuum mess up's after my new motor swap in, from not paying attention. Looking at your picture, yea it doesn't look quite right, but hard to say with out standing there. But looks like your check valve is in the wrong spot (it's after that big round plastic tee atm, thus not holding vacuum??). Not sure about a few other things also. Will refer you to the following diagram which may or may not help you out (also should be under your hood)

Whats a good price for a set of EA82t heads?
DrKrazy replied to pwoens's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
I believe it goes like this if you look on the underside of the engine on the heads you will see the marking of EA82. This is on the heads not on the block. if it has just EA82 = first gen if it has EA82 underlined = 2nd gen it it has EA82 in a box = 3rd gen Correct me if I'm wrong guys...? Edit:Cab beat me to the post. -

DrKrazy replied to Caboobaroo's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
So did you run it for more than a couple of seconds? -
my hatch is now er27ified!(new pic)almost done.
DrKrazy replied to archemitis's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
haha yea your right it's fits, but just barely..damn. That will be one quick little hatch when it's done. -
Where to tee in for a boost gauge?
DrKrazy replied to DrKrazy's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
I figured it out, turns out my guage is smarter than the installer. And yes I went straight into one of the block offs this time (used the old the brake booster stem from old intake). -
Would you use ACL composite hg's on a ea82?
DrKrazy replied to pwoens's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
Not sure about ACL but these guys are good and cheap for getting OE quality (at least made in japan) and possibily OE parts from: http://www.autopartsplace.com Haven't used them for Subaru parts yet, but for other imports I have and have gotten excellent service, products and really good prices from them. All of the parts I have got from them were OE Japan gaskets, and parts. Worth a look but prob a bit more expensive.
