Frankenmotor question. Searched.

Stock cams are the way to go in my opinion. The little extra hp is not worth the headaches that comes from the ecu(obd1). I think the obd2 is a little smarter and can correct everything that the cams cause. I am running stock cams and the motor runs out great. Never a crazy idle or anything weird. -
I believe I am the one with the brat. Very few people that done that to a gen 1 body/car. Read up its pretty good. http://forums.nasioc.com/forums/showthread.php?t=2338561

I was planning to go turbo in the brat, even bought a 91 legacy turbo car for the swap lol. Then I thought do I really want all the extra headaches\work without reliability? I understand if you do it right you'll get decent motor but there is always something that needs attention. ?.

Dont know the power its making but I know the torque is amazing. I running the legacy 5 speed with 4.11 gears. Didn't do any cams, I think it great the way it is...
-
I did a motor swap on my 78 brat. I used a 02 legacy 2.5 block with 91 legacy dual ports heads and I love the power. Mind your car might weigh a little more but for the price of a good used 2.5 block its well worth it..

SubiBratz replied to Fenix747's topic in Meet n' Greet. Your USMB Welcome Center
Lets do a Brat meet.. I doesnt have to be big just a get together of the best 4WD little trucks made. I live in Spokane and I see there are brats in Idaho so why not use are beautiful backyard. Just saying.. I ready and down.. -
The Legacy's 5 speed trans needed more room so......... Trans Tunnel was made... This also helped with the angle of the driveline so the pitch wasn't so severe.

This is a picture of the shorted Legacy crossmember and custom trans mount. Crossmember had to be shorted about 2 inches to fit the brat along with a custom trans mount made from round tubing. Also you can see the mounting brackets for the Legacy's A-Arms. See the kick rump roast power steering in the 1978 Brat, has this been done before? I haven't found a Gen 1 with P/S yet.. LOL
