  1. Swap will make a world of diffrence and would be better than rebuilding you ea. rebuilding an ej is much more worth your time. Steven at infurno fab makes perfect (dowell pins line up perfect and no movment when it lines up) adapter plates and are the cheapest I've seen anywhere. http://www.infernofab.com/ I strip down harness's for 250$, I illuminate the SmJ junction with solder and shrink wrap. Go EJ. you won't regret it. Prwa
  2. might have a cracked turbo, causing a leak of coolant. how may miles is on it?
  3. Okay here what ive come to the conclustion of, Max tire on SF 98-03 forester struts are 215/75/15 which is a pretty good tire and some what easy to find new. 235/75/15 is a very common tire and you can almost find at any shop in many different mud treads. as far as lift, king springs and 1" spacers are amazing and i love my forester like it. But if you want to run larger tires you run into the perch past 215/75/15. Now this is where other people have extended the bottom on the strut with brackets and what not. thatll give you another 2.5" which allows you to run that much larger tire. If i end up keeping my forester, (king springs and 1" spacers total of about 2.5"), im going to add the 2.5" at the bottom of the strut along with cross member spacers. Then i have 5" lift and can run up to 30" tire with stock 15" wheels. this combination is personally is the ultimate build for lift and tire size for a forester. Prwa
  4. Yeah im assuming that its a mixture of a couple different things that's causing it. but it runs great now, so i cant complain Num 3 was 220ish psi and i cant remember num 1 but it was up above 200 aswell
  5. You'll blow it up before you can say wahooo.. If you wanting power do a ej22 swap. It'll be less work than a ea82t swap and the ej gives you a much needed gain for the only wagons.
  6. So yesterday while diagnosing my car missfire on CYL 4 in my 2000 forester 251 with 270k, i ran a compression test to see if the valves may be causing the miss fire. Turned up negative on the valves, but it shot all over 200 PSI on all cyls. #4 was around 240, #2 220, and so on. i found out the problem was a mix of spark plug wire, plug and coil pack. but GD was kinda at ahhh, of how much psi the cyls were pushing. Is it possible i have a high compression build in my forester? It almost dont make sence.. We know the pressure gauge is good because we used it the other day on another car. i know very little about the engine it self other than the stuff ive done to it since i bought it at 220k, which is nothing major. I do know that the person who had it before me had the HGs done at superior import, did they put thinner sti Hgs in it?. Is it possible for a 257 head gasket to give that much more compression? if this is a higher compression build wouldn't i have killed it, since ive ran regular gas in it for 50k? haha.... prwa
  7. Yeah you'll be able to run 15" tires. And yes 215/70/15 will work great. 215/75/15 will fit with a little rubbing. You can get new struts for 240 on amazon and king spring are around 430. Not sure about normal ones are, prolly could find a set on forester.org If I was you I'd save up a little more. You won't regret it, best upgrade I've ever done suspension wise.
  8. Ej22 swap. It's the perfect build. More power and very reliable
  9. My wife and I XT's. Just got here all fixed up just need to put in on insurence then i can drive it around town to see how it does
  10. I love my subaru she just keeps on going
  11. http://www.mishimoto.com/aluminum-radiator-performance.html?gclid=COnD2qOhmr4CFcRafgodnUsAZA I highly suggest aluminum mishimoto radiators. Oem are plastic and i have seen them break time and time agin.
  12. WD40 is your best friend. you could always unbolt the lower balljoint bolt 14mm, pry it out and move the hub outa the way and see whats up. must be caught on some grease/dirt/grime. this will make it so you can pull the axle shaft all the way out and asses the problem. fallow this, the bolt im talking about is 52 seconds in.
  13. I figured itd be the opposite on of what i posted haha. Did you look in the female ends? make sure you look in them all.
  14. SF is 98-02, SG is 03-08. Both forester. The only reason to run 03-08 forester struts is if you want to run an inch larger tire than SF. But you lose an inch of strut travel with the SG strut! If you planning on running near stock or less than 27.5" SF is the way to go. also the taller you go in tire the more itll kill your mileage. Personally, running SF in the front and SG in the rear dosnt sound right. SF are 1" taller than the SG, thus lowering your rear 1". even if you put king springs on them the SG, the strut piston will only extend so far, still not being level with the front. If thats the case SF forester struts will give you the most lift, and the most strut travel.
  15. Tack a little ball or nub with a welder, on the end so it dosnt slide off. itll last longer than duck tape haha. prwa
  16. Took this yesterday, ive got a little over 11" of clearance under my rear diff the front is about the same! That a 12" ruler kinda hard to see though
  17. Sf 98-02 1" taller than sg, which gives you More exstention. But limited to I think 215/70/15. sg 03-08. 1" smaller less exstention but was simple sated with an inch larger tire. 215/70/16. The only reason why people suggest the 03-08 struts is because you can clear a larger tire with put wheel spacers. And if this wasn't true whoch it is thay would male the 03-08 foresters taller than 98-02 forester. Which there not. I have a 2000 forester and 2 04 forester xts and they were the same highth before I lifted my 00. I'm running sf struts, king springs, and 1" spacer and I have 11.25" clearance under front and rear diff on my forester. Read up, only reason why it sits taller in this thread is because his struts and spring were shot http://www.subaruforester.org/vbulletin/f70/sf-struts-vs-sg-struts-26131/
  18. Look into king spring for which ever struts you do end up useing. Huge diffrence from oem Also 98-02 forester struts are taller than 03+. They went smaller strut in 03 and compensated with 1" larger tire to make up the diffrence. I'd go with 98-02 personaly. Run wheel spacer to allow larger tires Prwa
  19. Normal # 92100 Slip yoke# 22100 Impreza 08-11, Legacey 05-09, Outback 05-09 Normal # 92505 Slip yoke# 22505 Forester 03-08, Impreza 03 Normal # 92200 Slip yoke# 22200 Baja 03-06, Forester 00-02, Impreza 02-05, Legacy 00-04, Outback 00-04 Normal # 92276 Slip yoke# 22276 Forester 99-98, Impreza 93-01, Legecy 90-99, Xt 85-91 92276 is not going to have an abs tone ring. and look in the pdf for the rear numbers this is only the ones for the front slip yoke. They dont make this style in the rear
  20. ^ +2 1/4" tube will take 10x more of a beating than any other lift. And i wouldnt cut that C out of the tube to get to the bolt. It weakens the block and is more work. Just me though. I used a box end ratchet to tighten mine up. Oh and BTY this is a great build guy! you just need a EJ22 in her! but when you do Let me know when you get ready to do one, i have accuses to cheaper and higher quality adapter plates and can tare down your harness if your not going to do it. Then youll have to come down to Oregon and wheel with me and my crew Sorry to see the quality of SJR's rear diff plate drop has gone down.. I could have made that for you for free.... This was a couple years ago, but he only had me pay 20$ shipped for the one that is advertised...
  21. so ive been toying with the idea to lift my forester and finally did it! This is a 35mm Raised king spring, 1" AAE lift kit and new KYB struts all around. Total lift is about 2.5" of lift. She rides so much nicer and after yesterday of being up in the snow i didnt even touch the rear diff in the snow and there was about 8". Much stiffer and corners so much better. i failed though at doing a before and after photo shot... Ill post some more photos when i get home next to my Forester xt. The plan is to run 235/75/15 by next winter itll being be up about another 2". This was a while ago next to my GL After lift
  22. Haha thought you'd like that. On a seriouse note though, If you got some sheet metal and bondo you could build a pretty nice one though. Or graft a newer Subaru one on there haha.
