  1. Extra-s! It's what comes in Subaru's when they come off the lot new. Subaru dealer ships have contracts with another company so they don't use it for changes. And they only sell it in 5 gallon drums. Still is the best for Subaru's, no more thirds gear grind. Prwa
  2. "Designed and developed by Subaru Gearboxes Australia is 1x 5MT Dual range conversion kit to Suit American Market Subaru vehicles only. This kit features all the necessary parts to convert your existing 5MT into a dual range Hi/Low range gearbox. Improve off road driving ability with either a 1.29, 1.47 or our custom 1.6:1 Low range gear." Deffnintly true with the AWD vs the old school. Although I have never had any problems with my 00 forester AWD, other than it dosnt have low range... Haha. And I've had it in sum good amount of snow. As far as the gearing if its true what they say about the 1.6 low range that's the same as the ea low range. And they don't send it with the front diff weighs to much. So substitute you current front diff, prolly 4.11 like most foresters. That would be a killer machine. But yeah, all depends on what you really wanna do. Wouldn't hurt to contact them as well. Yeah GD has had two shipped over from Europe payed around 800$ shipped each, but that was years ago. Prwa
  3. This is your best and strongest bet. http://m.ebay.com/itm/Subaru-Gearbox-5MT-Dual-range-conversion-kit-USA-only-Legacy-Impreza-Forester-/271274224042 I've been considering it for a couple mo the now. Once I have enough saved up I'm going to do it. The advantage to this is its build, bolt and go. No adaptor plate, axel change hybrid, or gear ratio issue. And who can say, "I have a ej dual range in my forester"? Very few in the states. Haha. Prwa
  4. Yeah got the new turbo in it a week ago, polished and ported tdo4. It rides so nice! And can get it on. My wife has been driving it, and has had two people already want to race her haha.
  5. Prolly the flux capacitor switch, pretty common on thouse older rigs. Haha
  6. I've been stalking Craig's list for months looking for a forester xt. But the truth was I did not have enough money for one.. The other day I was looking on there and saw one for $5k! No info other than miles and needs work. Started talking to the guy, come to find out its an auto... Bummer... So I offered him $3k cash for it thinking ill just flip it, he said he was interested. Went and looked at it the next day (partially thinking it might have been a scam) saw the car driving by thinking I was at the wrong house... Turns out he was the original owner, had a stack of paper and services 3" thick on the car since he bought it in 04 and it just needed a turbo! Well that was true it was toast! And sadly it only has 10k on it... It was almost new he had just replaced it before he moved to Oregon.. Huge fail on eldons automotive, didn't change out the banjo bolt filter.... Should have a turbo by the end of this week! Huge score! And My wife is happy!+
  7. 4" lift on a older wagon (ea82) minimal trimming. Or 6" lift hardly touch the fenders.
  8. Is this the "subi gold mine"? Isn't this near forest grove Or or something? I know of a place over there aswell that looks a lot like this. -Prwa
  9. Well it really depends on how much money you have to spend down the road. From what I've seen the ea82T tends to get cracks between the valves. Really depends on the price of the car though. Prwa
  10. 2" is easy to build, and easy to put in. You can always change it out down the road. I suggest to look at pictures of other people's cars on here and see what you want yours to look like. Prwa
  11. It wasn't just the head gaskets that the 25d had issues with it was also that it had smaller rod journals than the 2.2. Advice, stay away from the 25d engines. We have another one coming in the shop soon to swap it for a 22. Not a cheap swap but make it a much more reliable car. Prwa
  12. I used a 1/4" piece of rebar on the end that the gap is. Tighten us down good. Can't find a picture though. Good luck.
  13. If your mechanicly inclined try and bleed it, run it squeeze on the hoses to get bubbles out of the rad cap. And Make sure your fans are turning on! Should cycle on at about 190f-200 degrees. Next thing would be considering the radiator is clogged. Not likely though at 97. Prwa
  14. Haha nice job! If its starts it shouldn't matter I guess. Always refute to the wiring diagrams, from what I've seen there always right. Haha.
  15. Your using the ea fuel pump relay? If you can hear the pump turn on fuel pump relay is working and you have it right. Check you starter silly wire, it's the black clip on the back of the starter on the pig tail. Picture would help to see what you got going on.
  16. also, but good luck getting ahold of them.... they use no larger spacers than 2.5" but use wheel spacers to fit larger tires and use lifted springs (kings springs) its fun to look at all the pictures they have though https://www.facebook.com/forestertuning
  17. I suggest iron man springs. Taller and better weight capasity for around 200$.
  18. Check your vacume lines to the diaphragm, it's on the right rear on the engine. Push button are all vacume diaphragm operated. You can engage it buy hand (not fun) but down on the passenger side of the mid section of the tranny is the arm, push it forward or back and it should go in 4x. -Prwa
  19. Sadly enough my computer crashed a month ago and haven't fixed it nor have I figured out what's wrong with it... It had all my drawing on there including my r160 auto locker... Sorry dude Best advice for you, get a blank price of paper and draw it out with a pencil and ruler. Like many have done before us. -Pat
  20. Learn solid works or cad and re draw them. That's how I did mine, with calipers and a tape and solid works. Or print it out, see how much it's off, calculate the diffrence and then either blow it up of shrink it till the measurement = true.
  21. Personally 5mm difference ain't much. That's .1" But go with the same size one that came on the motor your putting in?
