Exedy, http://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B001B5EMS4/ref=mp_s_a_1_1?qid=1370925066&sr=8-1&pi=SL75 And Gates makes a good timing kit. Replace it all though if your going to do it, hate to see you down the road in 20k with a blown idler bearing or smacking tensioner. Double cheap my search with your exact make and model.

Is it an 4wd awd model? Are all the tires the same size?
-
So a compression test. We have a 251 in the shop now that had so much slak in the tensioner that the crank skipped 4 teeth and it's still looking fairly good as far as compression and smoke testing. Personally don't waste you time with the 25d if it has bent valves. Pooparu on this board went through everything resurfaced the block and head spechial head gaskets. And in 2 years they blew agin. Not worth the time nor the money. You can get a jdm import 2.2 use a 2.2 non import (US make) intake and the 25d harness with that. Drill and tap a new hole in the motor for the egr.

The unthinkable 4eat conversion 87 GL-10
Prwa101 replied to AKghandi's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
I was talking to GD about this the other day and he had mentiond that most of the 4eat's that came out of the turbo the front diff will interchange with almost any ej front diff. Making it possible to run either ej or ea82t engine without any addaptors. But make sure the front diff matches the rear diff ratio. -Prwa -
Yeah I did, we've been swamped at the shop and that's why it hasn't gotten done. Now that I'm working there now were starting to catch up. It's having some wireing issues is what he said. I'll see if I can't get it ready for you, might have time after this tranny swap today to look at it. I'll talk to him more about it today. -Prwa

Yup! GD and I do them. I'm pretty sure it's 250$ for obd1 an 200 for obd2 harnesses. Superior Subie and Imports on McGloughlin 503-880-4084

This Would be bomb! We've been talking about this alot in the shop. Autos are nice because if you get the right one you can wire in a dile to change your front rear lock ratio % 50/50+ which you don't have on the 5 speeds awd. -
I'll let him know, I take it it's the white wagon that been in the way for a while now haha...
-
Haha I take it your the guy who called GD today? Nice, he does great work. I'm currently working for him and I've met no other mechanic that compairs to him yet. High respects. It's Spendy but it's worth it, much more power. -Prwa

It's fine, I've seen worse. My fiancés car has had a crack like that prolly the entire time I've been working on it so prolly 4 years. Get one when you can,

2003 Forester
Prwa101 replied to KFoxArt's topic in 1990 to Present Legacy, Impreza, Outback, Forester, Baja, WRX&WrxSTI, SVX
^^^^ what he said! Sounds like what we saw last week at the shop with GD and I. A 03 out back that had just gotten all done up and turns out they put cheap after market head gaskets on it from car quest. Poor quality. And another thing, I'm not terribly familier with how often the head gaskets should be done, BUT at 91,000 miles sounds fishy to me. I have 250k on my 00 forester and as far as I know they've never been done and it runs strong. Personly I'd as for the documentation on the parts they used and then make your choice. -Prwa -

Prwa101 replied to Prwa101's topic in Subaru Retrofitting
well after a long long long amout of time not working on her.. i finnaly got back to it! i finished the power stearing line last week, i used the upper EJ hose and the lower elbo and made a sleave to weld them togeather worked great! AAAND i lowered the shifter linkage! i used a peice of 1.25" knureld stressproof and threaded it to 8x1.25 to screw on to the exsisting bolt. i can make more if any one wants one?? prolly 5-10$? now i think i might want to exsted the shifter rod. but ill take it for a drive before i do that. only have one more large thing to do, figure out the exhaust.. i could go with an all new system.. but that to spendy for me.. lol. -

Does the Distributer rotor spin while cranking? Or even the fusible links? -

I'd go with the Ecu then, save your self some time and go and get a used one off a low mile subi at you pullit you save in boring. Espeshily if you in Gresham nice and close. if you had crossed any wires at any point there's the chance of frying it. -Prwa -
Check and see if you getting spark at the correct timming. Cheak and see if your timming marks are correct. Cheak the power to the fuel pump relay wires(voltage meter), when you turn the key in the "on" posistion it should send power to the fuel pump(you'll hear it turn on). Should be the larger wire. Then it'll turn off because its primed. Could be the Ecu or coil pack If it has a new fuel pump in it I would lean away from that.

I just did this swap the last two days with GD. AND NO CEL. you need to fallow the diagram on the hood so the vacume lines are right. 2.2 long block, 2.2 intake, 2.5 intake harness, which ever coil pack will fit on the 2.2 intake, may need to solder diffrent connector. If the lines are hooked up right there will be no cel. It's hard to explain how GD did it, but the canister isn't there after the swap, larger line goes to the little nipple on the intake for vacume. And the smaller one is not used. Or just put a used 251 back in what ever you get, it's a miss conception that the 25's are bad. It's the 25D that's prone to blowing head gaskets. My 251 in my 00 forester has 250k and runs strong. You can find more info if you search Good luck -Prwa

honda boys talking smack. need motor ideas
Prwa101 replied to drake13's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
This is pretty funny! I'm getting a good laugh out of this hondog guy wanting to race a loyale. It's sounds to me like he's to afraid to race a real car so he had to pick on the little ones. There's a lot of diffrent swaps you could do to win this dog. It really comes down to money and having a car that can take the power increase Haha. Building a Nico car would smoke him haha. Although he has a money tree in his backyard. Haha Race him in the mountians and you'll take home the gold and you'll prolly have to tow him home. Haha. GD says hi, were working at the shop today -Prwa -
Go with a ej22 swap, or build a Franken motor that'll push 200hp easy. And ol ea wouldn't be worth your time, upgrade! just about done with my ej swap talk about power

My bad guys, didnt mean it like that... I tryed going to napa to get it took him the kid 30min to find the xt6 clutch kit and then orderd it. Left went home, looked at the paper and turns out it was just the disk.... Had to drive back and get my money back which took them 3 days... Then he couldn't even find the full kit not the Pressure plate to go with it... I was suggesting not going to napa for the kit, because they don't have it. Lol. Other than that, Napa is where I go to get my parts other than Subaru it self. Your right it just depend on who's in there and who you talk to. Some are good some are bad. Sorry to be blunt in the previous post. It's best to cross reference you clutch kits with rockauto to amazon so you get the right one. -Prwa
