Personally, I wouldn't even think about using any e85 garbage in any car or truck. 50¢ cheaper dosnt add up or compair to the amount of mileage and power loss from using it. I know in both my subarus and my 69 Chevrolet pickup hate even this 10% etho stuff they are forcing on us. If your thinking about cleaning your engine, just dump in a bottle of redline cleaner. You can get it at auto zone I think. Works great. Or use a tank of premium at chevron. Many options. But my advice is stay about from e85. -Prwa

Just a suggestion, if you drill it out you might now I say might, make the hole a little larger. But it prolly won't do anything. If you can't find one you could prolly find a nail that's the same size that fits snugly and make it work. Hope that help -Pat

Drill it out, lol. If you have a drill? I just took mine off and it took me atleast 30mim to take it off because it was stuck in there good.
-
Oh and if worst comes to worst, you could dtill it out. You want a bit that just larger than the small hole that goes through the pin, then go up from there. And then just get a new pin. The drill will fallow the path of least resistance, so the other end of the pin.

Yeah brase it up agins the seat so you can really hammer on it. A chunk of 4x6 or a peice of fire wood. Also if your tired of messing around with it tonight, put some WD or rust oil something that's lubricant for rusty stuff, put some on tonight and let it sit then hammer on it some more with roughly the same size as the pin to push it out.

Oh it's all good, I agree with you, that why I said if the fan fix dosnt work couldn't be something else haha. Just a thought too, are you running the electric fan and the one that hooks to the water pump? How's the fan going?
-
Try a nail and a big hammer, mine was stuck pretty good too. Just needed a little anger you can also try it from the other side to make it budge a little. It's also best to put it into second or reverse so you can hammer on it good, also a use a peice of wood to lean up aginst.

There's a little hole just below the the top of the knob, it's a pin you need to push out so it'll come off. A small screw driver or punch will get it out easy. See it? -Pat

If the working with the fan dosnt work...... You prolly have other problems you need to attend to. Radiator, thurmastat, waterpump... ect ect.. Good luck -Pat

Swapping a 350 small block into my 88 gl
Prwa101 replied to ABawm 88 GL's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
Just my 2¢ but I have a 69 Chev pickup with a small block 350 pushing 260hp and there's been times where it's a lot to Handel and it weights less than 3000lbs. Your Subaru weighs about 1500-1900lbs. I'd be afraid that you'd poop your pants with a 350 in your gl. Haha. But on another note, I know the chev vortex v6 would be much more suitable for a Subaru application. Good engines too, my brother has one in his s10 and it runs like a champ. Never the less it's going to be Spendy any way you go, custom fabrication and a lot of it. -Prwa -
1993 Loyale Electrical Problems
Prwa101 replied to bsc09's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
Sorta the same thig happend to me on my woman's car, I was messing with the radio heard a pop, some of the light stoped working and the auto seat belts stoped working. I looked at the fuses several times. And missed the one that was burnt out, untill I found a diagram that showed me what it was.. I'd pull each and every fuse out and inspect it so you know for sure that there's good. Good luck! -Prwa -
Just a though, I had a similar problem on my forester, it started all of a sudden. Felt like something broke and ran really bad. Pulled the timming covers off, tired out the timming sprocket bearing went out, bent the bolt and all 20 degrees. Start with the simplest work you way up. Good luck! -Prwa

I know for me and the experiences I've gon through..... I have a 2000 Subaru forester, does great in the snow! And I'm not talkin a little snow 2' or more. My buddy have a sidekick with a 1.9 turbo diesel, I think he's running 30's. so we went up in the snow lots of snow, I Of course got stuck there was so much (bottomed out). But he was good the entire time. The nice thing about his rig we were headed back down and the snow mobilars we had saw had cut track all over the road so he got pulled into a 3' drift.... But it being so light we littlery pulled him out by hand with out tow strap. There's pros and cons to both. I love my forester though, planning on giving it 4" soon you won't regret getting one though, I know I havnt. You can go from the town paved roads to snow mud trails in a second with no problem. The 4wd auto system hasn't let me down yet. -Prwa

wanting to lift my 86' GL
Prwa101 replied to cunningseb's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
Personly I'd go with the beast I drive, ive never liked the way sjrs crossmember blocks are a "C" may work for light off roading but if you hit or jump high enough they are going to pinch.. They are really cool looking and are easy for fabricastion but not my cup of tee... Which is why I built my own. 2x3" 1/4" full length blocks, for my 4" lift. Just my 2¢. Prwa101 -
