Prwa101 replied to Prwa101's topic in Subaru Retrofitting
Good news guys, a three days before classes started i got a phone call from the integrated metals machine shop program that i had applied to during the summer, I GOT IN!! So looks like im going to be making the locker my self, the teacher said as long as you get good enough in the shop you can make what ever you want! (other than guns........ really sad day.. haha) Looking at making one units for extensive testing, then hopefully i can begin production and will start taking orders. maybe by the end of the term ill have it down and can sell a few of the ones i made Havnt given up! -Prwa AAE -
16 ton Hummer, the Marauder

Hahahhahaaha only the price of two houses in my area.... totally worth it! I'd live in that! I don't even know if that would be street legal in the states haha -
The ticking is the lifters not getting oil, how's the oil look? If its been sitting for that long run some redline fuel cleaner through it clean it out. Does it run rough? Like its missing? I got a loyale from my Uncal that ha been sitting for as long as yours, could get it running till I found out three valves stuck open and the rocker arms fell off... I'd suspect it to smoke for a little while after sitting that long. Change the oil though.... Haha. Get it warm and then drop the oil while its hot. Good luck! -Prwa

Prwa101 replied to subaruguru's topic in Subaru Retrofitting
http://www.ultimatesubaru.org/forum/showthread.php?t=134627 Read up, Sounds like the same problem I had... You fried the Ecu and doide like me, got the Battery cables back words, even for a second will fry it... Check you posts. I was stumped for a couple months and almost gave up... Do you have power in the car when it's hooked up? And weird sparkage when hooking the battery up? -
For an over all ej swap? There are a lot of other threads on costs, Good Engine 500-600+ Stripped harness 250$+ Add plate 150$ Clutch kit 180$ Miss 200$ There's prolly more I'm missing I can't remember all I had to buy and spend. I did almost all of my build my self, total cost for me counting the car and a home built 4" lift and 235/75's maybe 700-1000$ but like I said I did it all my self and traded work for the engine. Plan on spending about 1000-1500$ you can also use the search button for costs for ej swap haha. As for this build! This was my inspiration for my build! You've gon and awsome rig man!
-
Nice build you got here!! haha although you know what would be better than that LSD? An AAE locker haha... Looks like a clean Subaru though! -Patrick

I defiantly agree with you guy on the He's pretty lame on REALLY wheeling that thing.... It was for the Forester it self, all of his videos suck when it comes to 4Xing that thing.... Needs to get some REAL videos up... OR I'll build mine and put some real ones up NOTE: Wheeling Sucks... Foresters a beast, and not getting its full potential....

Dude i stumbled on this vid today and am drooling over it, i have to do it to my Forester!! What size lift does that gotta be?? 6"? 8"? That thing is a beast! Time for Prep!! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XzoRETaaRdo&playnext=1&list=PLAF27B5D3544EF808&feature=results_main

Thats crazy! I wonder if he's running an ej22?? Next time I see this guy I'm going to flag him down, I only know of two other guys that run lifter subarus in this area sandy and welches need to grow my contacts for wheeling! -
Hey thanks guys! Got a used alt and MAF at upullit and bam she runs perfect!! time to button her up! -Prwa
-
YES! You guys were right! I unplugged the MAF while it was running and it ran much better and didn't want to die as much. But I think I fried the altonator, while its running at has low output about 5v at the white altonator wires, so it wasn't charging the Battry sooo It won't start after turning it off, does that sound right? -Prwa

Saw me??? haha it still hasnt even left the drive way i saw some one that has the same looking GL as mine the other day! although im a little taller i think and it sounded like the ol ea82 haha. Im drivin my green Forester with a nobama sticker haha hard to miss, the irony screams at people hahahah BUT!!! I FIGURED IT OUT!! i didnt hook up the air filter... it was getting to much air.. haha.. i got the harness in all the way just cleaning up the mess and making it look good, i think i got a dead battery or alternator though.. getting close!!!!! moved it a little last night, going to make an airfilter addaptor like this, at school and print it out in PVC plastic, it should hot up pretty good, and free is good too!! haha also messed around at work and started to make a rear bumper for it too!! -Prwa AAE -
Wow........... Agin I am retarded... Thanks Gloyale, when you mentiond the MAF I fired it up and started looking around it...... She LIVES!!!!!!!! For other people who may do this simple mistake........ Heres my photo of what I did wrong....... It was sucking to much air with out the filter system hooked up so it was choking it..... Over aired... I can't believe I did this... I stuck my hand over it and it reved up perfect..... H Thanks guys!!! Should have my sub finished with in the next week!! Then hitting the trails!! -Prwa AAE

Maf and PVC are good and hooked up along with the oil cap. I'm going to check the MAF though I may have knocked it and broke the film in side.. I noticed when I tryed agin today, I fired it up, did go agin, so I looked under the hood and heard the ignition relay clicking every couple seconds with the key off along with the fuel pump going on and off.... So I think the ignition relay is bad now or has been. Could this cause this? I'm guessing it could of it turn off the fuel pump or turns off one side of the relay that goes to something else... Hmmmm... While that was clicking I could hear something else clicking? I'm going to go and check voltages on the fuel pump why'll it runs till it dies...
-
I would think that there would make it hard start and not idel perfect when first fired up. Oh and the engine ran perfect when I pulled it, I drove it home. poor ej auto trannys.
-
Just went and looked around my IACV for hoses unhooked and it looks like nothing is unhooked.... And it looks good no cracking old hoses either.
-
Okay so the symptoms are, it'll run for about 5-10 seconds then die like its being choked. I can keep it running only if I use the throdel and move it up and down really fast, wont stay running if I rev iT and hold it, it'll just die. Only stay running if it's reved up and down fast. Been building it for a while now so it's been a project for almost a year so it's been sitting. Sounds perfect when it's first fired up. I have fuel, pressure and power to the fuel pump. 12v running. Anything would help, I really want to get this going so I can hit the trails with some of you guys! Any ideas? -Prwa
