  1. Sounds amazing to me! I'm stoked now! -Prwa
  2. Yeah 4" are a pretty good choice, not to big not to small. Now for the stearing I have one laying around that I could fab up for you for some green?$$ and springs no need to diffrent springs, it's a spacer bracket that hooks from the top of the frame spacing to the top of the spring. And the front struts are simmaler but diffrent type of set up. EJ stuff Now the clutch your going to want it an Xt6 clutch kit, the pressure plate is stronger and can hold the extra torque from the ej. Xt6 years I think are 88-91, I just bought one off Rockauto for 150$ not bad for that clutch when napa wanted 230$. For the motor your going to want to get a doner car, prolly pick out up for cheap crashed but can. Or out here in Oregon there's a place that sells the motor and harness(not stripped) runs and all, so you don't have to mess with a rebuild. Turbos I've read arnt good for wheelin. Gears wize as low as you can go is 3.7 I'm pretty sure but you won't have to change any of that. Many guys run 3.9 and 4.11 with larger tires with no problem. And you'll need an addaptor plate, I'm getting ready to make some now, so keep an eye out for it or pm me when your getting ready for the swap I'm pretty sure than answers everything? Haha. Lot there. Oh! Here's my build thread! http://www.ultimatesubaru.org/forum/showthread.php?t=127240 I'm poor due to school, so I've done everything my self and in a tight budget.
  3. Welcome guy! You can pretty much find anything you'll ever need to know on here! This is where I first started for my ej swap at age 17. Conservative lift, so like 2"? Depending on how high you want it, I thought I wanted a 2" but I figured out its not enough if your going to be wheelin (for me) with out fender cutting to run even 27" tires. Planning on running stock tires? 14" rims are hard to come by unless your willing to spend some $$. I saw some on here the other day that were 15" rims for our wagons for 75$ each. Theres two other methods you can go at this, 1. Get some 6lug yota rims with a 5.5" span like the wagon, either reseill the rims to fit the wagon Or 2. Do a 6lug redrill to fit most yota 6lug rims not that bad of a job. Tons of stuff on here about it.
  4. I woundnt weld the holes up! Welding them changed the molecules structure of the metal and makes it even harder to drill. I just redrilled my ea flywheel for my ej22, took me a while but did it really nice. You going to want to get the little ej (templet) peice that comes off when you take the ej clutch or tqv off. It's a spacer with all the holes your going to be drilling. I have one laying around I could sell you for a couple bucks if you can't find it. All re drilling is its offsetting the ea holes outward to fit the ej, the ej is a larger diameter. Look at sjrs pictures of his redrilled ones to see what I'm talking about. And google images would have this too. :update this is what your doping to be doing. -sjr's The holes don't need to be welded up. I uses a cone dremml bit in a drill press, worked great after I figured out the right method. The dremml it self was large and eat the entire hole for me. But depending on what kind of dremml you have. Hope this help! Sjr does it for 95$ i think? Not to bad. But not bad doing it your self either if you have the time. Hope this help! -Prwa
  5. the ea82's are one that should be made, every once in a whole you see a good bumper for it for 2-300$ Ive been thinking about making one for mine but havnt had the time. Would be pretty simple to fab something up for these older rigs. And much more reliable hitting a stump or aomthing and not mooshing the bumper compleatly. Good luck man! Always good to hear of people starting something and making Some money at it these hard days! I think these icons are awesomely funny!
  6. The green plugs are for when you put a timming light in it, it shuts the Ecu offish so you can read the correct timming of the car. The Ecu corrects what's off in the timming when plugged of un plugged. Can't remember. All this that your saying is telling me that your timming is off! Do you have a timming light to check it? If you loosen the Distributer, at idel and turn it left and right, it'll change the timming by hand. And by doing so you can hear the idel change, advancing and retarding the timming. I'm damn good with out a timming light, I can hear the engine and tell when it's on. And 99.9% of the time it's dead on. The black plastic rubber thing near where the motor butts up to the tranny on the right passedure side is where you out a timming light one and it'll tell you the degree it's running at. Let me know if that works
  7. i cant seem to find a picture so show it, but one cam should be pointing up and one should be pointing down. when the crank is a 0 Degrees(shown under the black plug) 90 degrees. (pointing up and the mark on the crank) check the crank. and if thats looking good,,,,, then you need to check your timming with a timing light (to show if you distributer is on) prolly off if you saying it has a hard start, and you did the HGs.
  8. yeah i saw that too!! people would pay a fortune for a swamped wagon and brat! i want to be the first to do so.... if i had money to... haha
  9. haha Ill keep that in mind! ill keep you guys posted !
  10. also ive been looking for a pattent on this but not seeing anything, also not seeing any one else having completed this set up. and i think if i change some of the design to make it my own it wont fall under anothers patent?
  11. thats pretty much what im making just a smaller scale, and then applying it to the r160 ea82 rearends
  12. I'd pull the timming covers off on each side and check the timming, make sure each cam is 180'degrees off from each other. Then go from there. -Prwa
  13. Never done it my self, But miles fox has good youtube videos on the auto to manual swap for ea82's. Hope that helps! -Prwa
  14. Oh yeah! She's in! And all buttoned up! Hookin up time! As soon as the rain and lightning stops....
  15. Yeah! General Desclosure hit my post and Ive got diffs! He says he has both ea and legacey 3.7 and 3.9. Any one in particular I should be looking for? +1 for him!
  16. On the same note, I has access to 3d print the diff gears Asembly in class and have a working model of it when I'm done! Which will come in handy!
  17. I'm looking into make a locker for Subaru and am in need of two or more diffes one from each to compare and measure. To mock up a working locker in solid works for an ea82, for further development if it takes off. Student at Psu and mhcc and would buy some but can't afford to. Thanks guys! -Prwa
  18. Yeah that's what I'll do! Yup good ol sandy Oregon! 30 miles from Portland. Man looks likes it's going to come together, I wonder who all would buy a locker like this of I made it? If this really takes off, I owe you! BIG! I was messing around with solid works yustersay day and drew a random miss dim mention gear in 5min. So If I can get my hand on a rear one to use calipers on to get actual dimms its going to go fast!
  19. Nice man! That is for sure some great Info I'll be needing!! Yeah I'll be looking for thouse diffs, so if anyone has one Layin around let me know! And dang I just scraped a legacey diff a couple months ago...
  20. Nice page guy! Digging the bumpers and skid plates!
  21. Nice! Great info! Yeah I was starting to wonder about the one I had found, because it acted almost like a clutch pack LSD. But what you found is what I'm looking for! thanks man! Haha I've been getting really bored in class because I learn so fast. So I'm going to be making on of these! Oh nice! Yeah I saw your post the other day! I don't have the numbers with me right now, but my upper bolt holes are a little farther to the right and down. Both the larger dowel pins are a little to the right maybe .04? And larger by .15 I'm pretty sure. But it's prolly not even enought to change anything line up wize. Thanks agin guy! I'll keep you guys posted on the Detroit!
