SJR T-shirts and Stickers
Prwa101 replied to Scott in Bellingham's topic in Products for your Subaru
I like 7b. Is it going to be a transparent white? How much are you going to sell these for? I like the sign one, but another one could be, *SJR Lift required beyond this point. * -
Didn't even think about the Manifold harness! Okay so I'm good on grounds!
-
Well just about to drop my ej22 into my gl, and started thinking about the grounds in my harness that I seemed to forget about when I stripped the harness down a couple months ago. I started looking at it, there's no ground wires that contect to the frame in my harness, all ground wires lead back to the ECU. Is the ECU the ground in my case? Or should I ground (cut and wire it to the frame)? If so which item grounds should I wire to the frame? In the swap right up, there the diagram that shows the Ignition relay grounded, is that the one that should be grounded to the frame? Need a little help here.... Thanks! Prwa.

The timming sprocket is in good shape, nothing messed up on it, I had to get a new pully and bolt. Because those were striped out. And ya I've read the same thing about people who ran it without it, Im just double checking, better to be safe than sorry on the road. In thinking the crank key hole is prolly a little wore, and so that's why it's a loose fit... The sprocket moves about an 1/8" on both left and right. Ill see if I can glue on a peice of scrap to make it fit a little tighter in the crank. And if that dosnt work I'll just bolt it up with the marks lined up. Thanks for the double checkin!

Hey guys, just starting to button up my ej22 for my swap, and I had to get a new keyway for it because the other one striped out. Okay I'll slide the timming sprocket on, then put the keyway in and it seems to be a loose fit, a little wiggley. So do I tack weld it in there or something or is it fine like that? Thanks.

EA82 6lug swap? Or re-drill 6lug rims to fit 4lug hubs?
Prwa101 replied to Prwa101's topic in Subaru Retrofitting
I havnt done mine yet but, I'm pretty sure when drilling the rims your goin to want to drill the new yotarim holes as if it were the stock rim for the car, to make a tighter fit. And your only drilling two new hole in the rims, to fit you 4lug sub. As long as the stock lug nuts arnt really small and fall through the larger rim hole. It should be fine. And I'm pretty sure you could but a larger set of lug nuts. Prolly could find them online. Prwa -
Yup that's what I though and was trying to say. I won't balence it. Thanks guys!!
-
Yeah the guy wants 40$ so it's not to bad but if I don't have to that's save me 40$. And seeing as the holes are being drilled outward away from the original holes, the fource should be the same. If you know what I mean. Lol.
-
So I drilled out my wholes for the ej swap. Getting ready to resurface it. Should I balence it too while I'm at it? The holes arnt perfect but work. I tryed with a drill bit and didn't work, so I used a egg dermal bit in the drill press that worked really nice. So balence The flywheel? Thanks.

I just did a set of HG's on my fiancés ea82. I only could work on it during the weekends because i have school and I still Almost had it done in the first weekend. But desided to wait one more. So it took me a total of 4 days. With the motor in. ( also considering it was my first HG jod.) I would have had it done sooner but it took me all day to put the rocker arms and cam case on, BUT since then I found out to use electrical lub grease to hold them on. Sould have no problem doing it with the motor in. Pretty easy, but Thats just my 2 cents. -prwa

Ea82 head gasket replacement how to
Prwa101 replied to Murdockleone's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
Didn't even think of that! Would have made it way Easyer! -
I did my own, it was pretty streight forward. If you search my name I have a couple posts on stripping them down. http://www.shoptalkforums.com/viewtopic.php?f=28&t=136053 This link helped out a lot. It has all the Ecu wires numberd and labeld. It not for a Subaru but I found it to be help full. And its pretty much a good labeler. I think there's also a PDF in one of them that nux wrote of stuff you tap into in the car. If you pm me I could help with some of it.

Ea82 head gasket replacement how to
Prwa101 replied to Murdockleone's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
I just did one last weekend for the first time, if you get a Haynes Manuel theyer pretty good. Are you doing it with the motor in our out? I did mine with it in but it was a pain getting the cam covers back on with the rockers falling off. Pretty much take everything off the motor, including the intake manifold, valve covers, cam covers, heads. Have to take the timming belt off too. Un torq the head bolts slowly in a crisscross patter. Milesfox also have some videos on it, I think YouTube. -

Well she's about half way done for all weekend.. Really wasn't thu bad doing the HGs with the motor in... Other than when you put the cam housing back in and messing with the rockets... Damn those things.... Took me all day to get them in right... Guess I'll have to finish it next weekend. Oh and the HGs were pretty bad cyl one was clean so water had been getting into there. -

Prwa101 replied to Prwa101's topic in Subaru Retrofitting
Well darn... Considering I already installed it.. I thought I was copying sjrs, with the tubes and longer bolts, but now that I look at it th tubes arnt 3"..... They look to be 1.5" or 2? Does that sound right? I was going to do that but, I thought I'd try something new, and didn't want to spend anymore $$ on those long bolts when I could just tack weld some metal in on my Spare time. I'll go and look at the driveline and see how catywompis it is.
