  1. id check the psi in each cyl, in my 90 loyale that i have it sat for a while and when i went to start it did the same thing. turns out had 0psi and the rocker arms some how fell off when the valves stuck, with a little WD40 and some time fired right up!
  2. Are you talking about the two notches one on the crankshaft where the belt is and the other right under the sensor? Both are lined up when I did the timing and book and Internet says it's right.... I tripple checked it. Along with the cams.
  3. okay ive been working on a 93 impreza, had a ton of oil leaks. took the motor out fixed them all up the motor back and now it wont start!!.... has fuel, has power turning the starter and motor over.... timeing is dead on did it several times thinking thats what it was... but no spark!!! does any one have any ideas? i have all the main wires hooked up and still nothing... ive gon through everyhting that i know about these cars and nojthing is comein got mind... and it ran really good befor... and now on top of this i think i might have damaged the tranny seal when i put the tqv back in so i have tranny fluid leaking...... anything will help! -prwa:slobber:
  4. I've read your thred over and over! It really has been my idle of Subaru swaps. Totally the best and most pictured best I've seen! Thanks!
  5. On the ecu, will it need to be a 5speed manual one?
  6. eating axels dosnt sound to great to me..... so if i did put a 2" suspention lift in mine, it would eat axels? so would it be better to go with a 2" body lift to run bigger tires?
  7. AWSOME! That sounds good to me, I read Nux webpage and he said he's been busy and it hard for him to do them any more, so awsome! How much do you charge for loom striping and addaptors?
  8. Thanks 2.5loyale, ya my buddy drills flywheels and has his own company for Suzuki converzenz, so he won't mess up. But the add plate I'll buy from sjr. They have a pretty good company there =) And the quistion about the wiring, I know I won't be using the old ecu, but the wiring that goes to the ecu will still be there, that goes to the test of the car, but it was just a thought... I got it wrong, I'm thinking all the lights oil Gage tack and all that runs through the ecu. My bad. My brain thinks faster than my fingers can type ha ha. Found my donor car though! My girlfreinds parents are going toget rid of there legacy, runns and all, just has a crapy heart core and they don't want to deal with it, only 120k. Figure they'll trade 500$ and help finding a loyale like they want and help fixing it up! I've notice there's a lot of nicer subarus up where you guys are, I never see any down where I am in Sandy, Oregon. Gotta give it to ya, you all got some nice rides! Good to have you on my side! Hey sorry my quistions are all over te place! New to this...
  9. yeah that is true buying a junked legacy would be a good idea, but im pretty sure the last time i was at my yard, motors are only 110$, it may have gon though... and the price for the clutch was off another one of these forms, and yours is also a 2.5, all the prices were about what it cost lol. i was just on the sjr lifts yusterday and the addaptor plate was only 185, the one that was 400 was the one with the readrilled flywheel too, i have a buddy thatd do that for free. and its not that hard to make the add plate, but ill prolly end up buying it from them. when you wire the ej22 harness in, does it get wired into here the only ea wiring goes into the ecu? so if i got a feemale addaptor to it i could just plug it in insted of cutting wires and dubbing in?
  10. haha awesome and good to know thanks!! im not going to end up spending that much though. im more of a do it yourself kinda guy, i figure i can get a motor from the junk yard for a 100$, wiring 200$ from nux, ecu junk yard too couple bux, the addaptor plate ill prolly make my self if i can find the dimensions for one, seems pretty easy maby 40$ for the metal. also do an over haul on the ej22 motor depending on how many miles is on it, dont want it craping out on me couple miles up the MOUNTAIN, after getting it in there. clutch kit 200$. other random crap another 100. im cheap, so the junk yard is my best freind! pretty much the only reason why my subaru is still running. once i start with the swap this summer, (or when my motor goes out) ill load some pix up and show off my ride
  11. okay a spisific quistion that i didnt see in the manual.... -do you end up running both ECUs? the loyale one and the ej22 one? nice ride! how much did that cost you for the swap? nice pix too! thanks man!
  12. i guess i found where i could buy the wiring, 250$ http://www.numbchuxconversions.com/services.htm not to bad saves a lot of wiringing time.
  13. ive read most of the wright up for the ej22 swap. Is the year of my car compaired to others going to make a diffrence in what i need (parts) for the swap? pretyy much, what do i need to make this EA82 to a EJ22 possible? Does any one know where i could buy the wiring already moded for my loyale ready to put in? and how much? im not a big fan of wiring stuff up, but if i have to i will. im not swapping out the tranny, i like my 5speed push button4x4, good on mpg. so i will need an addapter plate. hey and thanks to every one whos been posting!
  14. 91loyale, yeah it was from a couple freezes thats why its so bad, the crack is pretty much from the top center of the block where the tranny mounts to just under the manifold. (its hard to take a picture of it in that area, its pretty much my every day driver right now) i got the car from my uncal, he was replaceing the waterpump about 5 years back and got lazy didnt finish it left it all exposed and became one of thouse portland bikers... so it sat with water in it for 5 years, then i got ahold of it fixed what i could, took me a couple months to fix it and to get it to where i am now. i agree with you, it is toast, thats why im looking at diffrent options in motors to swap out, either keep the same type of motor running in there or go to something with a little more power like the ej22? and deal with the huge job of wiring and swaping...
  15. Oh okay, and it's the carborated one that are easy, it must be the one a year befor mine 89? I see now.... Hmmm so would it be worth the swap in my loyale? Cost wize? Or should I just rebuild my 1.8 or put a diff 1.8 with no problems. The leek is a crack about 3" long not to pretty, on the top of the block under the manifold. I used ligiud steel on it, didn't work very well, still leeking a little but not as bad as it was. So I'm pretty much done with this motor, unless I pull it and weld it up. The car was free other than the time and little bit of parts I putinto it. Not to bad so far.
  16. well my 1.8 is starting to run down, has a crack in the top of the block leeking antifreez, but epoxyed it up pretty much running till it dies, so im getting ready to swap that out for a EJ22 out of a Legacy. So what are some things that i should know about the swap? Computer wize, will the EJ22 work of the EJ18 computer or will i have to swap it out for the Legacy computer? Will the wiring thats in my 1990 fit right up with the Legacy computer for the swap? Motor mount, will i need to buy a conversion kit from a 1990 Loyale to the EJ22, or will it bolt up easy where the EJ18 was? If so anyone know where i could buy one? If there is anything else i should know feel free to let me know, anything helps. thanks! PRWA101
  17. hey thanks, yeah your both right, i do need bigger tires for more clearance. thanks for the tires size! i start looking for a set! im a poor subi runner, im more of a home made kinda guy cheap cheap cheap. thanks though!
  18. ive seen people making 2" lifts with 2x2" square tubing for the front, and then cutting them at a 15d angle so it dosnt change the camber. Does a suspension lift change the camber that much if any at all? Does any one know what the degree cut would be for a 3" lift rectangle tubing so it dosnt change the camber? What ive come up with was a 21.5d? how much does a lift increase the tip rate? or decrease the distance between the two front tires? Im looking for more clearance under my Subaru for this summer, not really wanting to run larger tires as it will kill my mpg, but if it comes to that what, are a good size tire for terrain? thanks, anything would help! kinda new to the Subaru world, but im lovin it so far!
