  1. Very impressive work! This thing is coming along greatly.
  2. Yes, it is a very nice camera for what it is. Very compact, lots of resolution settings, and yes it does take pictures. It can even take pictures like for a slideshow with certain increments of time from taking a picture every half a second to one minute in between. It's a little hard to figure out at first, but if you do choose to get one, you should be able to find your way around. It can hold up to 4 hours of filming in a 32 gig memory card. One problem is that it records to .mp4 files which have to be converted if you want to do any video editing, or if you have editing software that supports .mp4s, you should be good. It comes with a bunch of mounting equipment as well. Very nifty camera.
  3. Recently got a GoPro Hero 2, so I went out in the BRAT to test it out.
  4. Yes, it is on the rear of the coolant crossover pipe, passenger side. It will be the brown 2 wire connector to the right of the spade connector which is for the temp gauge in your cluster. Blue connector is for the purge solenoid. Part # is 22630AA041 and I got it for invoice, $22. List price is $39.95 from the dealer, see if they can cut you some slack. If you want to test your old one out, I have measured out resistances at certain temperatures. Don't go by the Hayne's book, their readings are 100% wrong.
  5. Boy has it been a while since I've done anything with this car. Got my winter tires mounted today, and quickly threw them on the car. Having troubles getting registration as expected... it is either DMV breaking my balls or having trouble getting in contact with the previous owner. Thanksgiving is coming up though, so I'm sure the previous owner has a lot to do so we'll see what happens. Back of my father's Legacy. Nice pink interior! That is it for now...
  6. Very nice. I just rolled over 100,000 on the cluster in my 94 Legacy last week (157,000 on the car) . Still running like new, we'll see how for I can take it.
  7. Looks like it just rolled off of the showroom floor. Nice find!
  8. This. That damn pump is so sensitive and will warp even with the tiniest bit of force. As bheinen said, he learned the hard way, as did I. I very GENTLY removed my oil pump and still ended up warping the damn thing. After the re-seal it was still leaking, so I ended up getting a new pump and that solved the problem. The old parts guy at my dealer said it was very hard, even for their well trained techs to not warp the pump upon removal back in the day. He said they always kept some in stock because 90% of the time they would warp, and he said whenever they took the pumps off they would just replace it to avoid putting the old one back on and having it leak anyway. I got a new pump at the dealer for like $60. You can attempt to re-seal it, but there is a good chance it will leak anyway. Good luck.
  9. Getting this thing through DMV has proven to be a humongous pain in the rump roast. In order to apply for a lost title, I must have the paperwork "notarized" so I went to the DMV the other day to take care of it and they turned me away, even though I had the previous owner there with photo ID!!! They don't notarize anything at the DMV which seems stupid, so now I have another problem to accomplish. Oh well, enough bad news, it whipped the BRAT around in my river today. Here is a quick vid of me driving the BRAT through, then my dad driving is Jeep through. It gets really deep and there are some big rocks on the other side of the river which is why I avoided it. Really don't feel like breaking anything on the BRAT since I have already gotten this far with it haha. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VEXz84GYdso&feature=channel_video_title
  10. This thing is really coming along well! I really like the wing mirrors, I've always wanted them on an old Subie, maybe I'll put a pair on my brat...
  11. Picked up a nice set of winters the other night for the BRAT. Came off of some old Escort wheels. A lot of tread left. However, these will not be going on my wagon wheels. They will be instead going on the crappy wheels that the BRAT has on now. My wagon wheels will be getting a fresh set of all seasons or summers or something. Actually, the tires on the BRAT now are still in decent shape. I'll probably keep those around just because. My DMV trip was cancelled today because they don't open until effing 9:15. So I will be going next Thursday to get my papers and register this thing in my name. I hate the DMV so much.
  12. Nice welding and nice project! I have a FWD rear end if you're in need. I will be doing the same thing on my BRAT soon, cutting the floor out and welding some new metal in. What kind of metal do you use and where do you get it?
  13. Thanks for your insight. I definitely want to keep that low end, so I'll probably just cut the cat out and mess around with the muffler or something.
  14. Haha, I did not want to get on it too hard because an old neighbor started breaking my balls about it not having any tags, even though it is insured. I did not want to piss him off and have him call the police or anything, you could hear this thing coming from a mile down the road. I am really surprised at the amount of low end torque though. I thought my 1993 Legacy had great low end torque, but the BRAT has it even lower. I will hopefully doing a 2.5" full straight pipe with a resonator once I begin welding in the new body panels and whatnot. There is something loose in the cat, so it has to go.
  15. I got bored after work so I made this quick vid: http://www.youtube.com/user/Jessekrs123?feature=mhee#p/u/5/-uj7LXXol88 Waiting for a call back from the previous owner so we can go down to DMV to request a duplicate title. Then hopefully less than 20 days for it to come in, then bring a bill of sale to DMV, get this thing registered and ready to attack the road. I will also be mounting my wagon wheels and throwing those on once it is registered, so I'm definitely looking forward to leaving the crappy wheels in the cellar. I really want to get this thing on the road before it begins snowing, because I plan on having all sorts of fun with my 4WD.
  16. Thanks Bill, it's good to hear from another person in the process of building up one of these things. Definitely clean your engine off before you drop it back in. There is nothing more appealing than a car with a nice clean engine. It must be nice not having any rust as well. I need this rust removed and some new metal welded in.
  17. Well guys, back with some good news. My oil leak has been fixed. Turns out that when I took the oil pump apart to re-seal it, I warped the aluminum plate that is screwed into the pump to separate the gears from the outside. Apparently this is unavoidable from what I hear so I got a new pump. Some pics: Yeah, we like our Subarus... And the occasional 12 second Cummins. Flashy new oil pump: NO MORE LEAKS!!!!! This thing is now ready for the road... once I get it registered. Been working so much overtime lately that I have been unable to meet up with the previous owner and go through a lost title process. Soon though.... soon.
  18. Haha yes, the rubber was originally on the clutch but I moved it to the brake. I like to slide my foot off the clutch when I let it out. The part number for my first gen 1994 should be the same for your second gen 1995. I'm pretty sure that part number is 82501GA240, it just says "RELAY" on my invoice but the date matches up to around the time I got it so I'm pretty sure that is the right one. It costs $35. You might be able to get it cheaper at a local parts store or something, because I got mine for $24 because I'm very familiar with my dealer. It was like $28 at Advanced Auto Parts so I just got mine from the dealer.
  19. Here is where it is in my Legacy. Probably not too different from yours. This is the actual relay. The white/neutral color. It will be on a bracket, it is easy if you just break it off of the bracket.
  20. Test out the knock sensor connector. Make sure that there isn't any exposed wire hitting any metal. From my experience, the only reason an OBDI Subaru will throw a code is because of the following: - Plug is disconnected - Sensor is not properly grounded - Sensor is not receiving required voltage - Sensor itself is so bad it is unable to communicate with the ECU
  21. I had this problem with my Legacy a few months back. An easy way to trace the problem is to look for power. With your air system on, check for power to the blower motor, if power is getting to the motor, but it doesn't spin, the blower motor is bad. If there is no power to the blower motor then... Check power to the blower motor resistor. If power is getting to the resistor but your blower motor still fails to spin, then your blower motor resistor is bad. If there is no power to the blower motor resistor then... Check power to the blower motor relay. If there is power into the blower motor relay, but no power to either the blower motor resistor or the blower motor itself, then the relay is bad. From my experience, it is rare that the blower motor and blower motor resistor go bad, so I would point my finger at the relay. A relay that is going bad will cause intermittent problems. On my 1993 Legacy, the blower motor relay is located underneath the driver's side dash panel, where all the wires and junk are. If your car is anything like mine it will be on the left side close to the fender. The blower motor relay is just a white color, and it looks similar to the fuel pump relay which is green. The relay will be on a bracket, I just yanked it off the bracket for easier access because it is a tight fit in there. Get a new relay from the dealer. In my experience, the relays are cheaper at the dealer than at the parts stores for some reason. Replace the relay and check your fuses. (I blew my blower motor fuses after I crossed some 12v wires and blower relay wires with my test light) So check blower motor > blower motor resistor > blower motor relay. My guess is it is your relay. Do the tests, develop a conclusion and report back here and we can furthermore help you out.
