  1. Some ideas for urethane removal: http://cr4.globalspec.com/thread/42204/Windshield-Urethane-Adhesive-Removal Here's a hot knife at HF, don't know how thick the blade is: http://www.harborfreight.com/130-watt-heavy-duty-hot-knife-60313.html Try an old butter knife, heating it repeatedly with a torch & pushing through. Maybe.
  2. They are finally here!! Part number H1631spk051s ............................................... My friend Mike's comment was that now that the gaskets were ordered once it should be easier next time. His biggest beef was with the ordering desk - dropping the ball on a relatively easy order. People on the other end of the phone line arguing that the specific die number doesn't matter(??!!!!)
  3. Hey John! Nice work there fella! Replaced the radio some time ago in my 87 with a Kenwood KDC-MP342U head & Metra kit for Subaru. Metra kit included wiring harness adapter. Didn't have to add any spacers with the short single DIN sized chassis. Replaced all the door speakers in the wagon using the stock stamped steel mounts, just sheet metal screwed on. Everything fit under the door panels just fine. Found the Metra kit on fleabay but I don't know if they're still available.
  4. Yes, however these might be helpful insight.
  5. Not the same linkage but similar principles apply. Shortens the throw by lengthening the shaft below the shifter pivot. You could do likewise. http://www.indysworld.com/80s/general/USRM/mick-usrm/ea81-shifter-fix/EA81ShifterFix.html And here's GDs fix: http://www.ultimatesubaru.org/forum/topic/84045-new-fix-for-4-speed-shifter-slop/
  6. IIRC, General Disorder posted a fix for the EA82 shifter. Replacement of the shifter pivot & bushings/pins with bolts or something like that.
  7. Flywheel bolt that was too long for the flange hitting the cam gear? Crank thrust bearing is shot allowing the flange to hit the cam gear? Push & pull on the crank flange to see how much play there is.
  8. And bugged the shop owner to bug Cometic again. C'mon, really? Sales losing the order 3 times???
  9. Yes, some Porche dealerships in the 70s used them as replacements. I worked at Bozzani Porche-Audi back then. Here's a link to Lobro catalog: http://www.gknservice.com/fileadmin/user_upload/Brochures/English/CV_Driveshafts_Industry_SpecialVehicles.pdf and http://www.gknservice.com/global/passenger_cars/sideshafts.html and http://www.gknservice.com/fileadmin/user_upload/Brochures/English/Universal_Boots_App_Spidan.pdf
  10. Here's a scan of the 87 FSM full time 4wd page Nevermind...keep getting "Error 403" when uploading the file. Grrrr!
  11. If it wasn't into the cylinder liner it wouldn't be that bad. Clean up the very end of the cylinder with a half round file wrapped in 300 grit sandpaper. Wire brush the heck out of the top of the block with lacquer thinner & then JB Weld epoxy the dents. Gently flat file the excess. Check the deck with a ground straight edge & feeler gauge to make sure its flat.
  12. Yep, I'll be able to spot you in a crowd. Barkin Fotoph*cket indeed!
  13. I do like the SJR bumpers. I will add to the front - a bull guard from a 83 GL wagon I had found at the local PnP. Built out from the bumper with like sized tube just far enough for a winch plate & tied into the cross member with tabs for a skid plate. Scott also built this rear bumper for me with one end open for a 2 pc fishing rod. Found these black trailer hubs that fit a flat center Mazda 6 lug whl on fleabay. Glad the end of the tube is open - thinking I'll add a RH swing away tire carrier like this(posts 9-13): http://www.pirate4x4.com/forum/chevy/1027758-mild-wheeler-dd-72-blazer-build.html Could put some fishing rod clips inside the wagon if the end is closed off with a spindle for the spare mount.
  14. I have the front & rear regulators from my 87 GL wagon listed in Parts for sale. Yours for the price of shipping if you like. Things need to go soon or they'll be going in the trash.
  15. Near forgot I had this lying around from a 96 Lego. Here's the backside. Edit: Yours if you want it for study, 987686. .
  16. There's a twelve step program for that too. Heh heh heh!
  17. Wonder if the reed switch pulses in the speedo head could be measured in Hz with a DMM on 5v scale. My BK Precision 2707A DMM has such a setting. Tap into the ECU wiring for your DMM connection. Then test run at say 65 in 4th gear(1.0 ratio?) & a GPS(cell) to determine pulses per mile. Just a suggestion.
  18. Thanks! Abrasive blasted the headlight buckets, lightly sanded the trim pieces & grill. VHT epoxy coated the buckets & valance, Krylon plastic painted the rest. Was fortunate to find a complete 88DL headlight system with grill on a 50% off weekend. Here's some reading material for those interested: http://www.ultimatesubaru.org/forum/topic/110898-dl-square-headlight-upgrades/?hl=%2Bheadlight+%2Bconversion&do=findComment&comment=930708 and http://offroadingsubarus.com/headlight_relaymod.html
  19. "Droooooooool........ Wow... With I had the time to do this to my 69.... Looks amazing!" Two tone original colors for '65 - 522 white & 521 gray. Will change over to 8 lug front spindles & Dana 60 later then some nice Centerline wheels.
  20. Do yourself a favor & buy the taller 6 ton square base jack stands. I have 4 & have used them for 20+ yrs with no trouble. Worn out 2 floor jacks in that time too.
  21. Been awhile since posted any changes on the wagon. 88 DL headlight buckets with 8000*K 35W HIDs outer & 60/55W halogen inners. 3 relays controlling all headlights/foglights - low beam outers, then high outers + high inners, fog light switch on dash to control inners low + fog lights. Oh yeah, SJR tube bumper! ......................................................... Just high enough on low beam that some, not all, move out of my field of illumination at night.
  22. Looked into the same hinge. Here's an idea from Pirate, posts 9-13: pirate4x4.com/forum/chevy/1027758-mild-wheeler-dd-72-blazer-build.html Didn't want to post a live link in this case.
  23. Have requested a price & ETA for one set thru my friend. His response was that the order desk dropped the ball at Cometic. I keep going back to friend's shop to remind him to put a bug in their ears at Cometic. Will keep at it. I need a set as well.

    Trooparu

Yeah, it was just a mock-up. 91 Trooper rear brakes test fit inside 14" Mazda truck whls & it would be very close, but 15" whls are fine. Likely would have to turn down the 6 lug hub to fit inside the rotor(but not much) & longer studs. Wheel 'spacer' only 12mm, per side. Pad area is about twice that of the GL-10 pads. Piston bore is 42mm.
