Tractor Pole, if you aren't in a hurry to sell them; I will deffinately get in touch with you when the time comes to swap in the ebrake stuff. Wentz, the rear setup is xt6 right? Not legacy?

Through a series of evens, as described in some other threads, I have aquired a good ea82 for this car. I have another EJ project now, this wagon will be the daily. Should have this thing going in no time.

Here is my latest splurge for subie goodness 1985 GL Wagon, previously owned by wentz912. Made the journey down last night with my brother-from-another-mother to see this car. Ironically he had just got a new daily driver as well so we decided to put it to the test. Here we are stopped to get some grub on the way back. Did a little cleaning and sorted out all the bonus content that came with the car. Its in pretty good condition overall. Only downside is that there is no ebrake because of the 5 lug conversion. But that should be remedied by this: http://www.ultimatesubaru.org/forum/showthread.php?t=134321 That is Jeszek's rear disk ebrake conversion from an older Accord. Wonder if it works on this setup as well? Now comes a point where I have to think reasonably... I need a commuter for winter, and need to take my Brat off the road to treat some little rust problems and get moving on the suspension for it. This wagon needs a little attention here and there to be completely road worthy. My red '86 however is good to go minus an engine. I'm thinking that this wagon is a better candidate for an EJ swap than the '86 I have since it is already 5 lug and rear-disk. I'm going to pull a switcheroo. :-p You are looking at the new EJ project here. Going to be lots of fun. Thank you again Wentz, this is a great little wagon and I will treat it right. I found a note on my Brat today
6 Star replied to Speedwagon's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
I'm guessing me, shes only been in the car once since we started hanging out. But she had nothing but good things to say about it. -
Heating up my brat bed??

Turn on the heater with the cab slider open for a while. -
Clean wagon down by Harbor Freight in Kent the other day.

Saw a black second generation Brat down by Family Fun Center around 5:45pm today. Had some lumber sticking out of the bed and looked like it had chrome calmaster wheels. Anybody on here?

I had a note waiting for me on my '85 Brat one day. It was a girls phone number. Made my day. -

I second the weber swap idea, I'm going to go that route on my '85 and the '82 we have already has one. The '82 has been in my family slightly longer than my '85. http://www.ultimatesubaru.org/forum/showthread.php?t=133190 I didn't want to do any cutting either when I installed my stereo so I just found another console I didn't mind hacking up. Junkyards are your friend. Heres what models will have the console you need: wagon: 1980-1984 sedan: same coupe: same Brat: 1982-1987 hatchback: 1980-1989 I just spliced the old harness in with the new one, was kinda unavoidable. :-\ Just left lots of room in case I wanted to go back, but my '85 was already missing a radio and a lot of other stuff when I got it so I'm not concerned as much about it staying pure.

That is a very nice looking Brat. The '82 is my favorite Brat because it is different (slightly) than all the other years. Looks like yours is in almost collector condition, I wouldn't repaint it or mod too much. Just my bias on this model. :-p We have a '82 DL Brat we are restoring. Cheers.

I thought that was pretty badass too. I wish I could get my hands on some of these old JDM goodies. More: December 1977 - Leone 4WD Booklet - Japan See the Whole Brochure in the Historic Section, HERE -
There are a lot of cool subies around this area that I see, thought I would dedicate a thread to it. Anybody else can feel free to add their "spots" as well. A coupe I saw out behind B&E Meats in Burien. An early gen2 wagon that was in the parking lot at work. Cool sedan up at the Lynwood PnP.

Sorry I didn't see this sooner. I would like to take mine off but my yard would absolutely destroy the bed. I was surfing around the forum and found another good thread (rather the first post) relating to lowering ea81s. http://www.ultimatesubaru.org/forum/showthread.php?t=82668&highlight=ea81+wagon+lowered Just waiting patiently until I source up all I need and waiting for time off work to get things in motion. I'm also planning on getting a weber kit, this rebuilt engine is sad with the old carb still sitting on top. The kit that The Loyale ordered looks pretty good, I may go that route. Was doing some work around the house today, on the roof, and decided to take a picture of (some) of the heard.

The pump and lines out of a F.I. ea82 should work right? I've been reading numbchux's writeup, very informative. http://offroadingsubarus.com/downloads/EA2EJ.pdf I'm thinking this build will be a bit slow, the wet season is approaching and I don't have a shop or garage. We are lucky that summer has lasted this long here in the NW.

Work has been heaping on the overtime, so I have had virtually no time for this or any other project. But finally it looks like I will have some room to work on this thing. The thought of spending money on an outdated ea82 rebuild doesn't seem attractive to me anymore. I'm gonna go EJ The plan: Get a first generation legacy donor to get the ej22 and harness from. Get an ej-ea tranny adaptor. Install everything non-electronic related. Have a professional take control of the wiring. Drive. A few questions: Will it be better to take the harness from a manual tranny ej or does it not matter? Will there be any holdups being that my '86 doesn't already have an ecu? (carbed engine) I know these have been answered already elsewhere so I'll be doing some research, but if anyone wants to shed their wisdom here I'm all ears.

Vicious Cycle Overheat Scenario
6 Star replied to 6 Star's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
Hmm kinda like the a/c fan that comes on ea82's. After I check the radiator flow and replace the thermo switch I'll look into a electric fan upgrade. -

I don't have a mechanical fan. It could very well be that the radiator needs a flush. -

I remember replacing the thermo sensor on the intake manifold when I did my rebuild. I know that sensor only controls the dash gauge. The thermo switch in the radiator worked and seemed ok, it might be starting to bug out huh? Might be worth just replacing to be safe. I have a new waterpump on, but my radiator has seen better days. It has a lot of little rocks from the road stuck in it and a few mushed fins here and there. -

It did kick on, I checked that after I got to my destination. Never had a problem with the thermostat or fan before...
