  1. Don't ask why I'm still awake. I just noticed the core support has space for the large single headlights. Did this Brat use to have single bulbs? Like:
  2. The white hatch was a sighting posted on Japanese Nostalic Car. A "survivor" She is pretty nice lookin.
  3. Here is my '86, I deleted the a/c and used factory mounts for an ea82 that didn't come with a/c. It looks very similar to the ea81 setup, if you know that engine.
  4. Nvm, Fox I think I get what you're saying now. I was just overthinking. :-p What would you recomend to "open up" the exaust? Cherry bomb? Straight pipe?
  5. Sorry, I'm a little confused... When I swap in the SPFI longblock, wont the asv be deleted in the progress with the old engine anyway? Or can I not run the SPFI heads with the carbed intake manifold? I just looked under both my SPFI EA82s and the heads look exactly the same as carbed heads, they just have the (would be) ASV ports already blocked off. Glad I'm asking questions now and not later, staring at a problem.
  6. Well now I can see them. Weird. No viruses here. HP running Vista.
  7. Since the funds/means for an EJ swap are a bit out of my reach, I'm thinking of making some improvements that I can actually get my hands on. (and not have to do tons of wiring ) My '86 wagon has a stock carbed hitachi engine, and its on its way out. I'd like to go through and just reseal the engine and retune the carb, but if I'm going through the trouble I'd like to make improvements while I'm at it. I tried some searching and didn't come up with much. My question is: If I were to swap in a spfi longblock (higher compression) all I have to do is use the disty from the carbed engine, and the intake manifold from the carbed engine. Correct? I'm also planning to ditch the hitachi carb and put a weber in its place. Let me know if I am forgetting anything. Thanks in advance.
  8. Is it an inboard or outboard a/c? (alternator furthest from the crankshaft or alternator closest to the crankshaft)
  9. That shell wont be road legal anyways. The owner inherited the car without a title and has been fighting the DOL for registration for a long time. Theres all kinds of hoops he has to jump through, so he decided to just part it out to people that could use it.
  10. Hey thats Petey's Cannonball Run hatch resto. http://www.ultimatesubaru.org/forum/showthread.php?t=127546&highlight=cannonball She is pretty fly.
  11. The ff1 is like the sport version of the generation that came after the 360 series. Heres the link. http://www.ultimatesubaru.org/forum/showthread.php?t=80021 Hope you have a few hours to kill. A really amazing build.
  12. If you are having a hard time finding parts, you should get in contact with Kostamojen, he knows his way around the japanese ebay. (If you've ever seen his ff-1 restoration thread )
  13. bheinen74 answered correctly. Just curious, why did you cut the bumper off when it looks like it was bolted in the stock place? Why not just unbolt it? Or was it a weld job?
  14. This thing shouldn't be named safariwagon 3... Having ski team decals doesn't exactly project images of trekking through the sahara. Something along the lines of skiwagon or snowwagon would seem more fitting. :-p Just saying lol.
  15. If you have the means, do it with the engine out of the car. Much easier. Remember which head goes on what side, there is a threaded inlet going from the carb into the passenger side head.
  16. Thanks Ed. I need to take some more current pictures... I did find some progress shots we took after the first week we got it. Since these pictures the tray area that the jack and charcoal canister sit in is now back to normal. Same thing with the fender wall next to it. Pretty much all thats left to straighten out is the area where the hood-bumpstop thing is and surrounding area. The hood also needs a little more attention.
  17. Subaru sponsored the US ski team durring the '70s and '80s. Subaru put the decal on the car, only for the ski team's vehicles. I say if it works well, keep it. Mine still has the hitachi on it and has never given me grief. +1 and +1 for pics. The hood release inside or under the hood? Inside is the same as a ea82 body and the hood release you pull up on a handle instead of push sideways. Welcome to the ea81 club. If you cant tell I'm just as excited about this as you are.
