  1. Are you saying that you literaly don't have any of these things? The place to start would be getting the parts you need. Or if you do have them: Check the heater blower motor, mine was in need of replacement. I thought it was burnt out, turns out it just spun very slow. Put in a new fan motor and had perfect working heat.
  2. I've had to jumpstart friends cars before. (non subarus) They were running fine and then after a cold night in the morning it just wouldn't start. Jumped them, ran their engine for a while so the alternator would charge, and they didn't have problems again. It may be that the battery is getting old?
  3. How long has it been sitting? Try jump starting it. You could have a bad ground going from the negative terminal to the engine block as well.
  4. Anybody can take their non-sube suv and do that. Rugby is at stock ride height and wheel size.
  5. Its not much, but a sign of good things to come.
  6. Cut them off so theres about an inch of the piping left. Hammer them in and weld shut if you choose. Just hammering is good enough but I welded them just to be sure of no leaks.
  7. WA state for the win. This project looks like it will be fun, watching for results.
  8. She looks pretty solid. Best of luck with her, and I like your shop!
  9. I am strongly considering this swap for my wagon. The ea82 is going out and I have a ea81 that can be resealed and swapped in. Just to recap and confirm what I've read so far in this thread. Use ea82 clutch and flywheel, the pressure plate as well? I'm guessing that is the case. Notch clearance in the ea81 bellhousing for the ea82 flywheel. Use the ea82 exaust headers. And lengthen the disty to coil wire. Can I use the ea81 intake manifold? I would much rather do this than use the ea82. Or is there a plus for the ea82 manifold? What about grounds and sensors? Any differences there to slow me down? Thank you in advance for any insight.
  10. Keeping in trend with Subaru abuse. An example of the bulletproof ea81.
  11. You talking about the 8 spoke wagon wheels that these usually come with? Or something more fancy?
  12. Sad day... What trim? Have the third eye?
  13. Thought I would post up a build thread for this. I've had the car for a year and haven't done much to it, being busy with other projects. Now I'm going to focus more on it. Its a 1986 GL wagon. EA82 5speed dual range 4wd. Manual Everything. When I got the car, the engine was in the back; dissassembled and missing the heads. I took the EA82 out of this parts wagon to get it moving. Thats when I got my Brat. This kinda fell to the backburner... and became the parts shed. Shes been feeling sorry for herself lately. Needing to fix or replace the slow leaking tires. And full of my crap This last week I have been paying more attention to her. I fixed the exaust leak, emptied out all the crap and vacumed her out. Next is a bath and swapping on some tires that don't go flat every other day. Future plans: EJ22 or frankenmotor swap mated up to the ea82 5speed. Possibly lowering the suspension a little. For now: I just need a vehicle with more space than my Brat. I have some spare EA81s... I may do a EA81 swap for now. The engine I swapped in is in need of a rebuild anyway. Also it chugs gas like an alcoholic for some reason.
  14. Off topic I know, but could we see some pics of your '82? I really like the '82s.
  15. Use a image hosting site such as photobucket. Even facebook photos work. Just copy the "image location" and when posting select the little icon up above that looks like mountains and a sun. Paste the image location in and there you go, images in the forum post.
  16. Ooops. Forgot to update. I replaced the bulb with the correct size one. Problem solved.
  17. I think a sting operation should be put in order. Put some scrap right out in the open and just wait for them...
  18. The hatchbrat has been done by a couple people. If you choose to go that route you could have a pretty cool wheeler. (first in the lineup)
  19. That looks like so much fun. Great pictures I want some louvers like this. These (I think) are for a sedan/coupe ea81.
  20. The gas guage on my Brat works when it feels like it. I guess its a common problem. I would like to know the fix to this as well.
