  1. Another option is the pre-facelift '85 and '86 ea82 bumper. Personally I think these bumpers look better, and have the turn signals in the bumper flush and easily visible.
  2. It could be that the copper pickups inside the motor are more worn down on the side that faces down than on the top side. When I replaced mine I took apart the motor just to see what was going on inside. TONS of dirt/grime in there and the contacts/pickups were all wore out. Its easiest just to replace the motor.
  3. Does that still work if the stock radio I have for the EA81 isn't the radio that had the optional tape player? Sweet, I think I'll try this out tomorrow when I get home. (going snowboarding tomorrow)
  4. Thanks for the info. And thats a cool wagon! I like. You sir have/had some nice brumbys. This silver one is just awesome looking. Nice tasteful mods and a clean look. Hats off to you.
  5. Nice Thats what I'm aiming for. I'd like to get an OEM radio and modify it so it has AUX input. But since the radio console in my Brat is all cut up for an aftermarket radio (previous owner special), and the spare I have is gray not navy, I might just go aftermarket. Cool. I'll give that a test.
  6. People are hurting for money. The hatchbacks and coupes are just as rare. The sedans are getting hard to find too. The only EA81s I usually see running around are the wagons. To be honest I want to snag up one of each kind before they're all gone. But more than likely just when you think that they're impossible to find, they pop up, just like the Brats right now.
  7. Pictures stolen from the Ebay ad: Looks like his alright. Stupid flippers... Sidekickin: I think the idea about friends on here posting some ads of their hatches to help you out is a good idea...
  8. Sounds like a good solution. Hey maybe we could all post up interior shots. I could believe that Subaru would do something like that, being that the ea81 was now the "obsolete" model with the ea82 vehicles out. I'm ready to tackle this, or see whats going on at least.
  9. Wow, a little off topic but that Brat for sale looks just like the one McBrat sold. People...
  10. Thanks for the tips guys, I will look into the bulbs behind the heater controls. Tom, your '85 Brat and '87 have the hvac controls backlit? Just checking because it conflicts with what TundraBrat said. I'm guessing he just has the same problem I do. :-p Bill, the ignition chime works flawlessly for me. I was just wondering why my door chimes and door dummy lights didn't work. On top of that, the dome light doesn't come on when doors are open either. I can switch it on manually though. Cyfun, are these bulbs hard to track down? Or do most auto part stores stock them?
  11. Hmmm... well if thats the case I have a parts brat. zzz I'll get this thing back-lit one way or another.
  12. Haha! Is that really whats going on or are you experiencing similar problems? My dad had a '82 gl wagon, I remember the heater controls being lit up. You can't tell me Subaru started half-assing display options for the '85 Brat. lol
  13. Lets play a game. Is it, or is it not, photoshop? Most are painfully obvious, but fun to think of.
  14. So, on my '85 Brat there are some things going on that are not critical but annoying none the less. First, my heater controls (dails/function selection/ect) don't light up when I have the headlights on. All the other dash lights (speedo/tach area) light up. I poked around under the radio console and under the drivers side of the dash and all plugs/wires are attatched like they are supposed to. All of my fuses are good. I don't have a radio currently, so I don't know if that would be affected right now either. Does anyone have any idea why this is happening? Also, my door chimes do not work. And the little door ajar lights on the dash don't come on when either door is open. When starting the car, it chimes like its supposed to... lol. Any ideas on that? My car is a goof.
  15. Just recently my dad was hit while he was driving his '89 diesel jetta. The insurance company we dealed with had to have proof that the car was in as good of condition that it was. (it had a rebuilt engine and all other kinds of work that we did to it) So we collected all the reciepts and everything, trying to sum up what it was worth to us (easily over a $3500 car) but they were not satisfied with that. We had to find a comparable car for sale somewhere in the US, it had to be the same year or newer, which didn't make much sence. Anyways, its kinda hard to find a '89 or '90 diesel jetta (for sale, and in as good of condition as ours was) and in '91 the body style changed. Long story short, you will probably have to find a nice '87-'89 hatch somewhere for sale to show as a comparison. Best of luck.
  16. I'll just leave this amazing thing here for your enjoyment. You can see his other masterpiece outside the gate. It started its transformation like this: I want. *Bonus Edit Photos*
  17. 1982gl4 How did you score that wagon for a $1?? I love the '82 plaid interior. (envy) I'll just do a photo dump while I'm here.
  18. Not mine, lol I wish. It belongs to Beechems (think thats his name) He also just aquired HatchSub's clean ea81 coupe.
