  1. 1990 Loyale Turbo MPFI 4sp Automatic Full time awd/4wd (whatever it's called) Try as I may, I find conflicting evidence as to the number of splines. I just ordered from Rock Auto and they sent me 23 splines. I don't want to tear down the axle just to find I have the wrong one then send parts back and forth while the car is out of service. Thanks in advance for the information Rainman
  2. I'm surprised I haven't bought one a long time ago  I said the same thing about 5 years ago. Then I figured out how versatile of a tool it can be. I probably use mine 5-6 times a month for various things, not just automobile work. Is the battery in that toy low or is the toy just trash? Get out the multimeter. That fuse looks good, I wonder if it really is? Get out the multimeter. Is that light bulb dead? Get out the multimeter. Is circuit board blown and if so, what part? You get the idea..
  3. What mikaleda said plus clean the throttle body if it looks dirty.
  4. Eric the Car Guy on YouTube has an excellent parasitic draw video. That would be a good place to start.
  5. Cool. Thanks for the replies gentlemen. I'll look into it further.
  6. Thanks nipper. The problem is that I can't find any fuses or relays or even fuse/relay holders so I don't know if there are any missing or not. About the 4WD fuse, should it normaly have one in there?
  7. 1990 Loyale Turbo AWD/FWD 4EAT So the air conditioner has never worked since I've owned the car. I believe the previous owner mentioned that he disconnected the a/c until the auxillary fan switch was repaired ( a good move in my opinion). The first thing I did was replaced the fan switch and got that working. Well now a year later I'd like to get my a/c working again but try as I may, I can't find any kind of fuse or relay that he may have disconnected, not even in the fuse block under the steering wheel. Can someone tell me where to look for the fuses and relays and anything else that I can complete the circuit? Also, I've noticed that the a/c compressor is located in a different position that other ones I've seen. The alternator sits between the compressor and the power steering pump where others I've seen the compressor is in the middle. Is this some kind of dealer vs. factory option? If so, are the fuses/relays located in different locations than where the factory would have put them? Next topic: The car is full time awd or 4wd however it's said. I know it's full time because it runs in 4WD mode all the time without any kind of lever or indicator to switch from front wheel drive to 4WD. However, I see under the hood near the firewall a fuse holder with the letters FWD printed on it. It doesn't have a fuse in it so I'm thinking that it came from the factory that way. Does this fuse have any operation in this car? What would happen if I put a fuse in there?
  8. Replaced distributor cap. Car was missing badly (every once in a while), idling erratically(every once in a while), and had to crank for up to 10 seconds at start(every once in a while). At its worst when pulling out from a stop the car would either have no power or buck very wildly. I tried pulling the rotor off but it was stuck on pretty good and I didn't want to mess anything up by pulling harder or using any kind of prying tool. Is there a set screw or trick of some sort to to remove the distributor rotor? 1990 Loyale MPFI Turbo 4EAT
  9. Redhill, Any updates? Also, I have a question. Does the engine run like it has a miss, or at least a partial miss, when it's smoking?
  10. Hi Meeky! I'm still around. wBrat, welcome to the board
  11. Found it! Done and done. It was off by 10 degrees. I've never messed with it so it must have been the previous owner. Runs much better now. No more bogging on the lower end. much better throttle response.
  12. '90 Loyale with MPFI Turbo SPEC: 20 degrees +/- 2 degrees BTDC Inder hood sticker says "WITH TEST MODE CONNECTORS (GREEN CONNECTORS WITH TWO POLES) CONNECTED" Where are said connectors?
  13. I'd be paranoid that there would be some kid in there working on a car he called Christene.
  14. GD, did you delete your pictures on your pic hosting site? I can't see them and I'd like to look at some of the spacer pics.
  15. I'd second the coolant temperature sensor. Same thing I experienced once on my Loyale
  16. That's exactly what I did, and it worked. For a while, it still comes back now and then. Sometimes really bad.
  17. My 90 Turbo Loyale does the same thing intermittently throughout the cooler winter months. I've subscribed to this thread to watch your progress.
  18. I bought mine in good condition with 180K for $800. I could probably find more near or at that price locally.
  19. I'd like a report on that when you're done. Mine does the same thing. In drive at idle, vibrates like a mother. If slipped into neutral, smooths right out. Been considering this job for some time. Let me know how it goes K?
  20. Thanks. I have a pair I want to try and fit first. If the magnet is too deep to clear I may take you up on yours. I was actually going to try and fit them in the hatch but since the wiring is already there in the doors I'll just keep it simple.
