  1. I've done plenty of searches and while I have found advice (chances are you don't need to rebuild the bottom end) and tricks (port heads, use EA71 or 82 pistons etc), I have not found and actual build thread. I have built 4 EJ25 race engines and the Haynes manual for the ea81 looks pretty straight forward but I want to see if anyone has actually composed pics and a walk through to address any "tricks" and "shortcuts". Thanks for your help!
  2. I have a yellow set of those NIB. Do you know anyone who has a late model cyclops light like yours? I have an older one I am looking to sell.
  3. Friend of mine who owns the Subaru dealership up here gave this to me... never used... original from the 80's!
  4. My BG5 twin turbo 2.0 in Okinawa If you look behind the wife and kid... that's our Super Charged 660cc Subaru Sambar... AWD of course My 05 Legacy GT Wagon... at the end it had over 300whp on a built motor. Current ride... not the fastest... but definitely has the most soul.
  5. HAHAHA... pretty Damn Close... I even have a basket to go on the top and was planning on painting the Brat and the topper the same factory blue it is now! What size lift, wheels and tires are those? That looks a little higher then what I was thinking. But that thing is pretty awesome!!!
  6. Figured I'd post a picture from this weekend, camping on the beach in Hope Ak... Car comes off the road in a couple of weeks for complete rebuild over the winter. Plans are: Fresh EA81, body and paint, lift (still deciding between 2-4") wheels, tires and a few custom items to make it a great go anywhere camper for AK. The original engine is on a stand and work will start next week on tear down. More pics to come as things begin to happen.
  7. Nice landcruisers are getting harder to find and it looks like you have a nice one. I agree with selling the legacy or insuring seasonally. If you were in AK I would have bought it!
  8. One and the same... Best cheeseburger I ever had by the way.
  9. I paid $5.39pg up at Coldfoot above the arctic circle a few weeks back..:-\
  10. The weight of that beast + AWD + under powered (though tourqy) straight 6 will not return that type of mileage. My 97, 3.4 V6, in 2wd returns 16-19.5... Less in 4wd. Like he said... Check mileage after a full tank. I think you'll find much closer to 12-13mpg:mad: But hey... That's why we have these awesome little subsides right!
  11. I looked at several of those but eventually went with a 97 4runner with rear locker... I love the land cruisers but 10 mpg is too rich for my blood. The truth is Toyota makes very torquie 6 cyls. but they are all gas hogs. OME is a great option... I have a mild lift, love the ride and yes, Toyota makes a great truck... Just past 200k earlier this month on a hunting trip above the arctic circle and the engine just purrs at 75mph... Very quiet. It is a totally different beast then my brat... I'm looking to park my Brat this winter and do a similar build as your Loyal... I just need to figure out what to do for 14's (they're hard to find) Enjoy your Toyota...
  12. Ugh...I don't think I can stomach putting prem into my 26 yr old car...maybe after I rebuild the motor.
  13. Sand blasted, polished the center caps and beauty rings and then hit them with rustoleuom "metallic black" (it's actually dark gun metal) paint.
  14. I just buy a big bottle of the cheap, original stuff
  15. Spray the crap out of it with armorall and let it sit overnight... As it evaporate, it turns to gel and you wipe it down. I only had to do it one time, now I just give a quick wipe after I wash it.
  16. Took my youngest on a run to Homer, Ak in the BRAT (about 500 miles) for his first football game this weekend. Had a great time with my son... and the BRAT ran great. Paying our repects... A little 4 wheeling in Deep Creek Quick, find the BRAT His first drive... yes, he's hooked. Fishing at Summit Lake
  17. I'd be interested in one or both of your over riders. PM me if you're interested in getting rid of them:banana:
  18. Are there any other lights on? Mine had the EGR and the brake light showing brake light showing on the dash... Turned out to he a bad altanator.
  19. Congrats on the BRAT. Had the same issue with my cluch when I got it ^^^ I adjusted the clutch as instructed and I haven't had a problem since. Let me know if you need an parts here and there... the guy who owned mine used to collect anything he could find (I even have 3 complete engines). Good luck and enjoy!
  20. I have two extra complete engines. My zip is 99515... check the shipping cost and I will help a brother out:banana:
  21. Hope you let the guy who found get first crack at it. Delta Junction Ak is 3,200 miles from Iowa.
