  1. Or just wear a good fire suit when you drive it.
  2. Same... I wish I had the brackets.
  3. Cleaning out the garage to fit in the next project (70 Datsun roadster) and found the 50# bucket of rust I cut out of her. I had always intended to take a picture of it but then lost it in my garage for the last year LOL. Now I can throw it out!
  4. Thanks, I'll be using some of these ideas. Looks like if I'm not going with a lift or a mallet I may need to get a little creative.
  5. I've seen the factory airfilter fitted to a weber on lifted vehicles (2" plus) but never on a factory hight vehicle... has anyone done this before? If so is there a "how too" out there. The filter box needs to sit 1/2 to 3/4' lower... I have an idea of how to do this but it will require additonal cutting, welding and trimming a notch out of the air filter itself as the filter box sit on top of the larger carb body and electic choke. All doable but wanted to see if someone has done this before. Pics below give you an idea of where it's hitting and how off it is (see bracket vs. bolt hole on the right). As always, thanks for your help.
  6. Bought mine used on Amazon for 19.95, great condition. They pop up more often than you think.
  7. I give my newly acquired cars a full once over, tune-up, new hoses, wires, cap, rotor, radiator flush, tans and diff change so you have a reliable base line. $200 worth of prevention goes a long way. If your buying a "new to you" Subie you may want to have the compression checked. Go buy "How to keep your old subaru alive" ($20-30 used on Amazon)... Follow the maintenance plan in it. Your talking about driving it weekly... The above should take care of the "predictable" failure points. Other than annual tune ups and oil changes you will have many years of trouble free driving.
  8. Brought her home on Friday and fitted the pushbar I picked up this past winter and the NOS fog light kit that I've had for a few years.
  9. The owner of the dealership sent this to me today... He said every car on the floor had to have a price listed.
  10. The "rising sun" is not the national flag... It is a war flag adopted during the late 1800s and used by the imperial navy and army. It is still a sensitive symbol for many WW II vets, Koreans, Chinese etc who suffered under the hands during that time. Westerners have adopted it as a cool design but it has some pretty nasty history behind it. With that said I think the American flag motif is more to paint Joy as a red neck. BTW... I was born in Japan and spent 10yrs as an adult there, my 3 boys were born there and my wife is 1/2, I have a great respect for the people and culture.
  11. How it looked in Summer '11. Rusted and dented, no driver side window, but a bargain @ $400 with 2 spare engines and an extra set of wheels A little elbow grease, and found a driver side window and I enjoyed it for the rest of the Summer. Took all of 2 years but here's how the little guy sits today.
  12. How about Kamie style front spoiler or a cab wind deflector/spoiler like the first gen BRAT option.
  13. Good luck... Lame situation but you're getting good info, nothing I would add.
  14. Cleaned up the new (to me) brush guard and finally mounted my NOS (new in box) fog lamps. Will mount on the BRAT in Spring.
  15. Sorry, I thought you were talking about in the picture of the brush guard... yes, that "brass thing" is a block heater. All the EA81 motors I have, have them.
  16. Not in the picture but I have an extra one if you're looking. Got this for Christmas too... Vintage travel mug.
  17. Cleaned up the push bar and mounted my NOS fog lights... will mount in Spring.
