the check engine light has been on for a while now, and i would like to know how to read the codes off my cars computer, its a 1990 loyale wagon throttle body injection 5 spd ea82, i have located it under the dash, i have the repair manual so i can figure out what is wrong but i cant make sense on how to read the codes from that light, do you just count how many times it blinks after u put the green plugs together? if you know any help would be appreciated thanks:cool:

i cleaned the IAC, and it got better, then i replaced the coolant tempurature sensor wich turned out to be bad, wich i noticed after i replaced thermostat and gasket, problem fixed:banana: it idles at 750-800rpms now, thanks for the help and suggestions!

the problem is getting worse, now there is a winding noise at high rpms that wasnt there before and the rpms are just ridiculous, wastes lotsa gas, idles at like 2200rpms when warm could this be a bad throttle position sensor? please help if anyone knows of any way to fix this

heres my first subaru, bought her for 300 dollars only 162k tiny rust spots on hatch other than that its in good shape besides dents on the other side.i will never get rid of it. great soobie.

there are no apparent vacuum leaks i have checked, i was thinking of cleaning the IAC valve but i cant seem to get it off, any ways i could clean it to see if thats the problem?

i gotta give you props for the justy, never seen one like that!

fixed some frayed wires and replaced a fluid resivuior pump, changed the manual trans axle fluid, washed her, gave it a new EGR valve gasket, and replaced a solenoid purge valve

Okay, here is the problem, i bought my 1990 loyale at the beginning of the summer, its a manual 5 spd, EA82, push button 4wd, throttle body injection, only got 163k on it and runs great, but ever since i have had it, its had an erratic idling problem, it will idle up to 3000rpm after start and i have to tap the gas to make it go down, sometimes between shifts the rpms rise up, then lower when in gear, but on hot days it wil idle down to 1500rpm, ive heard lots of older subaru's have this problem, any help or suggestions would be appreciated, thanks!

I have the same problem with my 90 loyale, id like to know what causes the erratic idling problem.

I recently replaced mine, its a bearing that requires to be pressed in,and taken out with gear puller, but it is not a sealed bearing.
