Cool. Thanks.

I am doing an EJ swap on my 91 Loyale and realized I have a GL radiator, with the 45* upswept bottom radiator outlet. I was wondering if anyone found a hose that would work. here a pic I was thinking a flex hose could work, but what length

What about the starter wire Prwa101? The way I interpreted Numbchux write up was that its not essential to hook up, its only for different fuel mapping on cold starts. It Starts! I feel pretty darn ridiculous but I spliced into the wrong blue relay. I found the the correct one and she fired right up! Thank you all

I know the starter wire you're referring to. Should I be using the EA or EJ starter wire? Car turns over with EA starter wire but not with EJ one.
-
No I'm not using the EA fuel pump relay (FPR). The black/red wire from the EJ FPR (pin 3) goes to the fuel pump. I am splicing it into the existing fuel pump wiring under the dash at the EA FPR. My EA wiring diagram shows: pin 1 blk/wht, pin 2 blk/wht, pin 3 blu/blk, pin 4 blu/wht. from the pic you can see the wires are colored differently Just trying to figure out which wire to splice.

Also this is an automatic seatbelt model. I just discovered that it grounds the fuel pump through a different circuit. Could that be part of my problem?

Guys Im having trouble getting my EJ swap to start. Im not sure if I spliced the EJ harness fuel pump relay into the correct point. I found the blue relay plug above the Loyale ECU, which I believe is the ea82 fuel pump relay, and I spliced into pin 3. The color codes don't match what my manual says but from my searches I think that is the correct relay. Also I can hear the pump run for a second as soon as the car is turned on but nothing when cranking. Please help! Thank you, I really want to get this thing running.

German cars are way over engineered. A lot of aircooled vw guys only install 3 engine bolts, even with built motors.

Age old oil question
Carl B. replied to 92_rugby_subie's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
If you have a worn out old motor that leaks oil just run the cheapest stuff in a weight that matches the climate. Thats what I do. -
I just bought the kit from Oreilly Auto, only $99. Brand new Valeo parts, they're an OE manufacturer for a lot of car companies, but its a good idea to open the box and check. I've heard that parts stores rebox parts from all different manufacturers. Exedy clutches are great but a little more expensive. Also 2wd or 4wd use different clutch.

I'm thinking from a maintenance standpoint. The offset studs combined with the bottom studs are a pita. Also by drilling the bellhousing you have two less bolts than the tapped style adapter plate.
-
I got an ej adapter plate that uses offset welded studs at the top mounts. I dont really like this method and was thinking of redrilling the bellhousing. Has anyone tried this? Looks like I could drill the engine side bellhousing and TIG in an aluminum wedge where the nut would tighten. Or has anyone else gone a different route than an adapter plate?

Select Monitor, what is it?
Carl B. replied to Carl B.'s topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
Thanks guys for clearing that up. I found the plug on my loyale, but not in my obd2 harness. -
I have done it with coilover sleeves for a 90s subaru. Sleeves and good shocks cost me $400, but havent found a good rear shock. I would look into Raceland coilovers for a 08+ impreza. Theyre about $500, you can go very low, and I've heard good things from the german car and stance guys.

never mind. ignore/delete this post. ej timing is computer controlled. I was having a brain fart.

when redrilling an ea flywheel for an ej do you ignor the timing marks?

Select Monitor, what is it?
Carl B. replied to Carl B.'s topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
Also are there two obd plugs in addition to select monitor? Anyone a diagnostics guru? -
Just bought a clutch this morning. Spline counts, input shaft diameter, and disc diameter differ between models. I got mine from O'reilly Auto parts only $99.99 and its Valeo. I did a lot of searching and price checking, heres what I found. specs: 4wd spline-24 shaft-1" disc-8 7/8" 2wd spline-21 shaft-7/8" disc-7 7/8"

Trying to finish up my obd2 ej harness today, but I dont know what the select monitor plug looks like. Anyone have a pic? I'm not even sure what select monitor is. Is it similar to data blocks on VAG cars like VW/audi? I've tried looking it up and it seems like a memory that logs sensor readings (data blocks that I'm familiar with). Thanks

I've been thinking about something that was brought up by Gloyale, the MAP and MAF in a 25rs. I have seen this in some GM cars but I'm new to Subaru. Looked at a 00 25rs and couldnt locate a MAF. Does anyone have more insight on this?
