  1. You'll still love the twilight blue metallic after you've had Ned for 30 years! I speak from experience since mine is virtually the same color. :)

Suspect you don't eat quite as much as Jobie. He polishes off a minimum of 10-12 pounds of carrots a day, about 9-10 (or more) pounds of vegetables/melons, about 10 pounds of grain, and a bit of hay! Of course, he also drinks about 10 gallons of milk to wash it all down (I don't measure his water--just keep the tank full). :)

Best get back to it. Have been tied up with one of those 4 letter words (work) and it beckons yet again. Later.

Give Ned a pet for us.

  2. Aww hes a big one! Im just like him, I like to eat :D

I have had Ned since November 2010, hes getting repainted, but itll be the same Twilight Blue Metallic that he is now, just a fresh, clean color that I can wax and make it look better.

  3. Glad to have another member of Jobie's fan club! :)

Have no idea what he weighs--more than the bathroom scales can handle though. He's been estimated at varying weights between 2500 and 3000 pounds by people who are supposedly "in the know". Suspect he's a tad bit "fluffy" (does like to eat), but most is muscle. He's just about as tall as I am at the back and, if he lifts his head up, taller. Thankfully, should quit growing (or so they say) by the time he's 5 (only another 9 months to go)!

How long have you had Ned? He is such a handsome lad--the blue is definitely "his color"! :)

  4. He is so adorable!

How much does he weigh? He seems like a big boy!

  5. I have a 1981 DL sedan. Over the past year and a half, I've been having problems with dust building up on the turn signal. I suppose I should note that the problem coincided with my start of driving on a lot of gravel/dirt roads (inside of the car looks like I could grow a garden after just a couple of days of commuting). The left turn works fine, but the right balks. I'm pretty certain it's dust on the contacts as cleaning it off with compressed air (big stuff at a garage, not the canned stuff) seemed to help for a couple of days. Have also used the contact cleaner in a can (didn't really help) and a Q-tip with rubbing alcohol (worked for a couple of days). Nothing seems to work for long. My logic is that the problem is with the right turn because the dust settles on the top which is where the contact for the right turn is--hence, I figure dust is the issue.. Wondered if anyone had a suggestion as to a preventative measure so it would function for a bit longer. Thanks!
  6. Good luck with the Subaru show! Ned will be great!

Best dash as time to feed again--seems a never ending task sometimes.

As a side note, if you want to see another "fun" picture of Jobie, he's modeling Crocs knee pads on eBay. Yet another accident in our lives. Happened because of the vet wrap I was using to protect his legs from the flies (bad this year despite having tried everything). Friend at the post office decided Jobie needed bright green instead of the white and contributed same. A seller in DE had sent free knee pads early spring due to a mix up on an order--had promised her a picture with Jobie in them for her kids. Hadn't done it so added them to the leggings. She was thrilled and asked for permission to use Jobie on her listing. Not sure, but he may also be on their eBay listing in Poland. At any rate, if you get bored, you can see him as the alternate view at:

    Enjoy!

  7. Ned needs some work, hes currently at GeneralDisorder's house awaiting a driver side wheel bearing (passenger side fixed) and both front tie-rods. Then he will have new tires and a fresh alignment and hopefully be set for the Subaru show.

I like Jobie :) it works and through the pictures, he just looks like a Jobie :)

I have no problem helping out, let me know if you need anymore help :)

  8. Ned is cute (both as a name and as an entity)!

Jobie came with him name, too, although I did modify it slightly. The first day I met him, they said he was "Joe B", but I heard "Jobie"--so that's what I kept. Decided it's appropriate because he kept a good heart even while he was abused (just like Biblical Job). The "ie" fit because he used to be so little he could go under my legs and I'm only 5'1".

Someday, I hope to grow up to be as good with computers as you are!

    Later.

P.S. Thanks for being you. Jobie and I think you are very special!

  9. Perhaps a bit more elaboration is in order for those who may be concerned that I am exploiting a poor animal for personal gain. The Jobie phenomenon came about by accident. I rescued him to keep him from starving to death. His first outfit was for purely pragmatic reasons--a coat to keep him warm and dry because he had no shelter (was not legally mine then). Many of his first toys were cast offs from other people because they enjoyed watching him play with toys. Legally, Jobie is mine--bought and paid for. In reality, as one friend put it, Jobie is the Community Calf. The local organization that provides employment opportunities for adults with special needs has designated him as a "Community Resource". People in the cattle industry have, upon meeting him, declared that they don't know what he is, but he's definitely not a "livestock". We came up with "Black Angus Terrier" since he behaves much like a dog. I spend a minimum of 10-12 hours, 365 days a year on all things Jobie. (Most of my days are 20 hours or more since I also work and take care of various needs for my 80+ year old father.) Jobie sends cards or letters to anyone who is in need or has an interest and does not have an opportunity to meet him. We do not charge for anything that he does (whether in person or long distance). We are fortunate that many people do "Recycle to Jobie" and give him excess produce or things like corn stalks--far better than having it go to the landfill! Jobie does take a significant part of my income (serious carrot addiction being only one part of that), but my personal choice has been to continue. I have seen the difference he makes. One of his special friends that did not (could not?) talk signed excitedly to Jobie while making "moo" sounds--the joy he expressed is hard to put into words. A stroke victim (never met the man, but we sent cards at someone else's request) said his first word ("cow"--gender wrong, but so what) after getting the cards. He has also been very educational for the children. Jobie actually seems to enjoy being dressed up or photographed with props--a "real ham" for the camera, if you will. I do take safety precautions and ensure that there is a fence between Jobie and those that interact with him. He still does not know how big his feet are. I am the only one "at risk" and I feel comfortable and trusting enough that I can use him as a pillow. Jobie's friends range in age from babies to 90+ year olds. They cross the entire spectrum of employment from professionals to the homeless. They also cross the entire spectrum of abilities and disabilities. I am currently in the editing stages of a book of the daily letters that Jobie sent to his Grandma while she was in the rest home (trying to figure out how to edit the photos where we do not have model releases). The draft has been well received by children and adults, alike. I am not an egotist and would be happy if the book would simply help support Jobie, as well as provide entertainment and education to people. As to the most important question, "Is Jobie happy?" I do believe that he is.
  10. Without doubt, Jobie is part of my family. Most people don't remember my name, but call me Jobie's Mom, Bull Lady, or Red.
  11. No problem. :)

    5 am? Yuck :(

The profile picture comes with privelege... Like I have almost 1000 posts, so I have the profile picture and stuff... the avatar is fine for now :)

Subaru is better than anything in my opinion... I love my Subaru.

Ned came from His Oregon License Plate - NED 108

  12. We're in! Not certain if I did it the best (had to use the avatar option as there was no profile picture option), but Jobie and I are in (admittedly, a younger version of us--best shot I had).

I like Ned as a name. Mine was named Benzy because I think he's even better than a Benz (and always have thought so).

Guess I'd better quit for now--the 5 am feeding is an early one (not to mention the prep time involved).

Thanks again for all your help!

  13. Heres how I would do it:

User CP in the top left of the page

Youll see Edit Profile Picture (if you can)

    Edit Your Details

If not the profile picture, you can scroll through the options on the left, and find the EDIT AVATAR and that will give you the little picture, as you can see, I have the profile picture of me and the avatar of my car, Ned.

  14. Thanks to you, we feel quite welcome! (Yes, I do discuss things with Jobie on each visit--scarey, but I'm pretty certain he does understand.)
  15. I was trying to do a profile picture. Thanks to you, I figured out the ones in the text.
