    87 GL 4WD Pulling apart my shift linkage and I'm stuck. I've got everything apart except for the T shaped part on the transmission (called "Boss" in Haynes manual). The bushing is gone and I'd like to replace it. I can't get the bolt out because it hits the guard on the back of the transmission. I assume I'm doing this wrong or overlooking something. Do I need to hammer out the spring pin to remove the linkage and get that bolt out? I'm hesitant to bash on my shift rod. Thanks for any help

    DERP This is why the fan is on. when I pulled everything I just unplugged all the wires that run into the A/C hose. looks like a thermistor or something. If I unplug the black connector the fan comes on. So, I wonder what I should do... just stuff it all back in or try to figure out what these wires do and get rid of them properly?

    So I've been talking to jzacher85 and he wants them but maybe you need them more... I'm not sure how to do this but I'll ask him how desperate he is for 3 wheels

    I kind of told him he had priority because he asked first and I don't want to piss anybody off, but again maybe you need them more and he might understand that

    did my whole ea82 front end seal/water pump/oil pump/timing belt off that, never owned a subaru before

     

    we've got a subaru alliance over here in humboldt, hit me up if you're making a trip to northern california any time.

    wheels still not sold, jzacher85 wants them but I haven't heard from him yet

     

    I'd like to sell them to someone who could pick them up so I don't have to pull the tires, but that's probably not too likely.

     

    I'm guessing with tire disposal and shipping fees it would end up being more like $150 or something

    Not sure if this thread is alive anymore, but I just removed my AC and power steering, used an alternator bracket from an 85 ea82 with no PS or AC and got a shorter belt (35 7/8") http://www.flickr.com/photos/jeffkinzer/7576949716/ The only problem I've noticed is that my electric fan comes on automatically when the key is turned one click and never shuts off, whereas before it would come on once the engine reached temperature. I wonder is this something I can fix and get working the same as before, or is it just better to add a switch on my dash for the electric fan?

    Hey I've still got the 14" peugot wheels, someone in colorado seems to want them bad but it would be much easier to sell them to you, especially if you wanted to come pick them up, please let me know if your still interested
